Fun classical guitar lessons. Very knowledgeable and thorough teacher. My son really enjoyed his lessons.
Jim K.
I've been self-taught for roughly 3 years and sought lessons to help me get out of the rut that I felt I was in.

Nick has exceeded my expectations. More than just a great banjoist, Nick is a fantastic all around musician. He's intimately familiar with genres of music I've never even heard of and is able to disseminate his vast knowledge of technique and theory into easy to understand lessons. One of my favorite things about Nick is he completely caters himself to you and your goals. On day 1, we laid down goals that I wanted to pursue, and every single lesson since has been centered around getting me there. Never once has Nick tried to trump what I thought was important to work on, he just works with me and helps me lay the ground work that I need to get moving closer to where I want to be. The other thing I really enjoy about Nick’s lessons is that he’s always respectful of me as an individual, and the environment that Nick sets up for his students often times make me feel like I'm just learning from an old friend rather than the expert, tenured, musician that he truly is. He has my highest recommendation to anyone looking to better their own musicianship.
Jabari K. Noel
Nick is an incredible instructor! He was able to prepare me for a professional guitar audition with in 2 hour long lessons. His attention to detail and deep understanding of advanced musical techniques makes him a gem of a teacher, and a pleasure to work with. Will definitely continue lessons!

I learned to play the mandolin because it is a very common instrument that guitarist double on in musical productions. From there I became interested in playing Irish folk music and bluegrass and formed an Irish folk group.

When teaching Mandolin I like to use these styles to teach students to read written music and chords so they can confidently join in on any jam and have fun.

My main focus is to help you achieve whatever goals you have set for yourself. I tailor every lesson to each individual to ensure you are learning in a style that best suits your needs. "Alani has been wonderful. She was so flexible and understanding when I had to cancel due to family reasons at the last minute. She has taught me several types of tunes and songs and listens and lets me take the lead in what I would like to learn and answers all my questions. She even simplified one of my favorite songs by Nickel Creek that was way too complex for me to try to play as a beginner but now I can play it and work up to the more complex version if I'd like. She is good at helping me find answers to many of my questions myself and guides me so that I can figures things out on my own. She is a great teacher for an independent person and can give a great foundation for a student to build from and know how to teach themselves. (Like the teacher who teaches one to fish rather than just giving the student the fish)"
