In middle school, I began taking French instead of Spanish because I wanted to be different. By the time I reached college, I knew I wanted to be proficient in at least one foreign language - so I ended up majoring in it, and spending two years in Paris during graduate school. Languages are fun, and I hope to help my students discover this, too! Look out also for my blog articles in French on the TakeLessons blog.

About Beth
I earned my BA in French with a minor in math from Pomona College, followed by my Masters in French Language Education from the Sorbonne University in Paris. I have six years of experience teaching English and English as a foreign language to middle and high school students.

I have taught private violin and viola lessons since the beginning of 2012. As a member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas, I have completed their violin pedagogy courses for Suzuki books one through four. I have played in various local orchestras since high school, including the San Diego Youth Symphony, the Pomona College Orchestra, the San Francisco Civic Symphony, San Francisco Civic Strings, the West Sacramento Community Orchestra, and the Rancho Cordova Civic Light Orchestra. I also play handbells, and currently play with RiverBells Sacramento.

Mrs. Jen has been a violin teacher for our daughter for 3.5 years. She is an extremely qualified and talented musician who deeply cares about her students and is committed to teaching. She is kind and patient, but also effective and motivating. When our 8 year old daughter learned Mrs. Jen was moving she said, "I probably will never have as neat or special of a violin teacher as Mrs. Jen"- and she's right!

First lesson was fine. We took a few minutes to find each other in a cafe setting but as it was also a meet and greet session I wasn't too concerned about time. As it turns out Beth more than made up the time. She's very pleasant and easy to speak with. We went over my goals, simple traveler type words, phrases and questions, and a work schedule to cover the next several weeks. Beth told me how she was going to approach teaching me after listening to my goals. I'm looking forward to the next session where we can focus on learning the language.

About Zach
Bonjour everyone , my name is Zach, I was born in Paris, France and raised in a small (tiny tiny) village called Galluis.

I have since then lived in Paris , Philadelphia and now New York.

I graduated from "Jean-Monnet European High-school" where I specialized in English and French Literature.

I have been teaching FRENCH for more than 10 years now.

Most people I've taught first came to me saying "French is so hard , I will never be able to speak it" or "When I try to speak french, french people answer me in english"

THIS WILL NOT HAPPEN WITH ME :)

French is easy , you just need a good teacher who cares about YOU and adapts the lessons to YOUR NEEDS:
I do ! :)

Before I started taking lessons with Richard I only knew two words: Bonjour and merci :). For the past 3 monts , Richard has been a big help, I know more vocabulary now and my grammar has improved. He is always patient( eventhough I might ask the same thing over and over) . He takes time to explain words and sentences in a simple way which makes it easy for me to understand.
Looking forward to my trip to Paris :D

The public school system of today requires individuals to function as a different kind of educator. They need teachers who will not only teach, but will also inspire and lead. Moreover, they need administrators who understand the different relationships between students, parents, and schools. As an administrator, I oversaw the successful deployment of several tutoring programs and worked to ensure the longevity of these initiatives. I have a wealth of experience and knowledge to contribute.

About Celeste
I am a graduate student in Language and Literature at the University of Chicago. Still, I have a wealth of experience in the classroom and in after-school programs. I have been a tutor for over ten years and have taught a wide variety of subjects to an array of different students.

I am a native of France and have been teaching kids and adults for years.
Ranging from basic conversation to poetry and literature, I will use your favorite matters to familiarize you with French whether it is cooking, art, music, French culture... I can also assist you with all your applications, resumes and cover letters. I am willing to help my students with their French issues whether they are beginners or advanced.
As an opera singer, and a voice teacher, I also teach very specifically the French pronunciation. I coached singers' French pronunciation with operatic productions, and I love to combine the music within the language with the music itself. I also aim to help all singers and actors in freeing their natural voice thanks to the bel canto techniques.

About Anna
Dear student,
Here are a few facts about me.
I am a native of France. For a part of my life I had to follow a “practical” course, and earned a degree in aerospace engineering, a profession I practiced successfully for several years at the French spatial agency. But I was eventually able to abandon the engineering profession in order to devote myself entirely to my true calling.
As an opera singer, I have been performing in places such as Cortot concert hall in Paris or Carnegie Hall in New York. I have been teaching voice for years now, to kids and adults. I have also been teaching French since my arrival in the US.
I therefore teach French diction too, to professional singers and actors.
I also enjoy teaching music initiation to the little ones (3 to 6 years old).
I would be happy to answer all the questions regarding my work.
Wa
rmly,
Anna

Students can expect to develop a strong base of grammar and diction. Having lived, studied, and worked in Paris for 3 years, I can offer insight into the culture of the French language.

About Zachary
I am an orchestral conducting Masters student at Mannes College of Music who has been playing piano since the age of 4. I have been teaching beginner and intermediate piano for the past 3 years to students ranging from ages 7 - 65. I teach all types of styles ranging from classical to pop with everything in-between.

My students can expect to develop a strong and reliable technique while being able to express their musical ideas with a clear and dynamic level of sophistication. It's the stories and emotions that draw people to music, so I do my best to base my teachings around that concept.

I believe that a love of learning and a love of teaching go hand in hand. Teaching and tutoring allow me to help others develop that same love of learning that drives me in my studies. I find joy in showing students that intelligence is not fixed, helping them prove to themselves that they can improve their performance in any class with hard work.

The best tutors are people who love both the subjects they tutor and the feeling of helping someone succeed. I have been speaking French for 11 years, and I love the language and culture so much that I lived in Paris for a summer! Part of my tutoring process is helping others to appreciate the language and culture as well. With words of encouragement and a non-judgmental attitude, I help students tackle tough grammar, improve pronunciation, and learn to love speaking about language.

I prepare in advance for every lesson, regardless of the topic, to ensure that I am refreshed on the subject and to develop any materials I might use during ...
