About Matthew
Hello! I am registered Professional Ballroom Dancer with National Dance Council of America. Over my time as an instructor I have competed and taught all the styles of Ballroom dance and competed nationally on the professional level in American Rhythm.

I've been an active instructor for six and half years now and have seen so many students see their individual dance dreams flourish. Starting to take dance lessons can be tough and frustrating so I tailor make my lessons by learning about you and how best you learn. Whether that means explaining to you in physics terms, sports analogies or making sure you have a video to learn from once the lesson has concluded.

Whether you are a beginner or an advanced student, you will be in good hands. Competing and placing at the professional level has made me prepared for those of you at the advanced
level. If you desire to compete or create showcase, we will go over every aspect of choreography for you to achieve your goal. For those who are beginners, I built a Salsa program at my last studio and worked almost exclusively with beginner students and ushered them through their dance journeys wherever they went. I approach every lesson with patience and make sure every student understands each step and figure before moving on.

If you are a couple looking for wedding dance preparation, I can handle that as well. I sit down with my students prior to their lesson to understand what they are looking for so that they can achieve their dream dance. We will go over the venue, the dress, the shoes, the song, the style, the level difficulty wanted and from their the dance will begin it's journey. I have been choreographing wedding dances for many years and have never had a bad review.

My goals as an instructor are simple: help you achieve your desired dreams and have fun in the process. I look forward to meeting you and starting the dance journey with you!

About Me

I grew up in the South Bronx during the 70s and 80s. I understand the importance of community and how a neighborhood can be destroyed if the people do not get involved and work together for real solutions. Music and films were my salvation. I began to write songs and play guitar at the age of ten, and 15 years ago I started a band to raise the awareness level of teens and adults regarding the world around them. The band is called Glass of Know. The group had songs playing on rotation on upstate NY
radio.

Although music was my first love I always had a fascination with film. I began to study with the successful theater and film coach Ruth Kulerman four years ago. After many lessons and plenty of encouragement from Ruth, I decided to start testing the waters. Early in 2007 I went out and started auditioning. The response was overwhelming and I landed 17 roles in 5 months. Not a bad problem to have your first time out of the gate. It wasn'€™t prime time or the big screen, but it gave me enough confidence to continue to work hard and more importantly, I knew I had something special to offer.

I've had films in the Asian American Film Festival, New Film Maker Festival, and 2 years ago the film En Route won first place at the Milford Connecticut Film Festival, in which I was the lead. I was nominated for best actor at the Columbia film festival for the short Good Bye. In 2011 I was the lead in the film Down & Across which went to the Cannes film festival. I'm currently working on a TV pilot with the same team. The Coffee List was my first attempt at the writer, director, and actor. The film has been screened at International Manhattan Film Festival, The Katra Film Series and we came in 3rd place for the HollyShorts Challenge on Indi website.

Through my methods of teaching a student could excel, learn, and become an accomplish musician at any age. I work within the age group that is, to teach in the level of that student in
stead of above them.I have help students to get into bands and become songwriters. I show students how to practice within 15 minutes and become productive in ideas and have fun in the process all ages could have fun. I am one of those individuals who love to teach music and my reward is when you learn and feel good about your studies in the instrument so my last words to conclude in all of this is “have fun and enjoy the beauty of music.”

I am emphatic about learning music I cover all the grounds in music such as theory the basics to harmony and my favorite songwriting and get you to play what you like
I have worked with all ages and the one thing I know in the beginning is to make that student feel comfortable and to get the attention from that student so they can learn, play, and most importantly have fun with it.
I show students time management in their studies how to practice in such a little time I plan each lesson and if the lesson is not right for that day I quickly go into a second plan. I can always detect if the plan does not go well because there is one thing a teacher must know and that is to teach in the level of the student and not beyond so they can succeed properly and move on to the next level.

About Josh
Hi everyone! My name is Josh and I am an actor, author, and artist currently living in Manhattan. I love working with kids and adults alike and am looking to do whatever I can to help YOU improve on whatever you need help with.

I majored in Music Theatre in college and have worked professionally as an actor in multiple capacities. I am also the self-published author of a YA sci-fi novel called CyberWorld: The Legend of Alaxeria, now available as an ebook at Amazon and BN.com. My greatest passions include acting, film, writing, theatre, cooking, photography, singing, literature, traveling, and spending as much time as possible with my friends and family.

When it comes to tutoring, there is a broad spectrum of subjects that I feel equipped to teach and teach well: English, writing, essay writing, creative writing, acting, improvisat
ion, actor's repertoire, Music Theatre, acting as a business, character acting, and many more. Additionally, I often operate as an unofficial life coach and creativity coach and am more than willing to apply this to our sessions as well or create entire sessions around one or both of these ideas at your request.

I have a very flexible schedule and rates. If you are interested in working with a passionate individual who will give you 110% every time, then I'm your guy! I'm one of those rare few who cares very deeply about what you take out of our time together. I will not waste your time if you do not waste mine. I also expect a lot because I have a lot to offer. I would never continue teaching you if I felt that you were not ready to advance to the next level; likewise, I would not let you settle for anything less than your absolute best work. I am a perfectionist myself and will demand the absolute most out of you in our time together (but don't worry, I'm very friendly!). If you're worried about tutoring being too expensive, don't be, we can talk about it and come up with something that works for both of us. I'm very laid back and want to make this work for you. I also promise that when we do come up with an agreement, I will make every penny count!

Other things you should probably know about me include my love for chocolate brownie ice cream and my celebrity obsession with Rachel McAdams. When I'm not penning my latest novel, I'm usually journaling, taking in a film, going over my audition materials, or binge-watching something on Netflix.

I have been literally to 4 youtube teachers and though I have nothing bad to say about any of them, i know that I need a long term teacher that I can see myself growing with as a singer. Our personalities just meshed. She knows how to make one feel comfortable. She is very encouraging to students with zero self confidence like me. I think I have found the teacher I’ve been looking for in Elena! i’m excited to see what she can do to transform my voice. Her resume as well as her reviews( students spoke highly of her character) are what stood out for me out of thousands of teachers online! It is also important that I love to listen to my teacher’s voice and i love her voice😊

Although Kyla is very nice and I could see her being a good acting teacher there were a-lot of issues. Late almost every-time and often seemed frazzled or caught off guard for my lesson. She was helpful with her acting technics for the first couple of lessons once we got into it, but then I took a week off for a vacation. She bumped the prices double the cost and did not inform me as a student. When I came back and was ready to purchase my next set, that we had already discussed a date and time, I noticed the price increase and questioned her. It was difficult for me to understand why she did not inform her current students of a price increase (and a big one at that). I was very clear with her in pervious lessons where I stood financially and that this was an investment already. Although she isn't an "expensive" teacher being a college student made this transition difficult. I was able to look past some of the other issues but the miscommunication between students was a NO WAY for me. Unfortunately, although she has potential as a good teacher she did not handle my lessons professionally.
