Pattricia has been great with my daughter. This is my daughter’s first time learning piano, and Pattricia makes it fun and is so encouraging. She takes a genuine interest in my daughter as a person, not just as a student. My daughter is 9 and has really enjoyed learning how to play. Pattricia gives her a combination of lessons she can do at her current level as well as stretching her skills. but she always reminds my daughter to have fun while she learns. We couldn’t ask for a better teacher for her first time experience! Thank you, Pattricia!!

Private Music Theory Teacher

Music theory is the basis for all things musical. A student will learn the rules, but I will not force a student to be confined by the rules. Rather, a student will use these rules to their own advantage so that they may excel in real world situations and not just for a grade for a class.

About Jeremy

As a spring 2020 graduate of McNeese State University I bring a fresh perspective to private teaching. I will adapt to meet the needs of any student and help any student achieve the highest level they can achieve. For me, the greatest reward is watching students succeed in what they love to do.

I have been sneaking music theory into all of my lessons from the very beginning. I have a minor in music and have a solid understanding of scales, chord constructions, progressions etc.
Science plays into my theory lessons too. It is not my intention to bang people over the head with theory, I just like to help people understand how music works.

About Ayme

Music can be as simple or as intricate as you want to make it. I will to teach you how to make the most of whatever knowledge and skill you have and to have fun while you do it. But he did sit with me and show me how to do it myself and I was happy I learned something. It wasn't great but if I had the desire to be an arranger then I would definitely study more with Jeremy."

"Kelly really knows her theory, inside and out. And she can explain how it all works. It's much easier to memorize a piece once you understand the theory behind it: the progression of the chords, and their functions. I wish my former teachers had known theory instead of making me memorize all those notes with no explanation."

Music Student Face-Off: Memorizers vs. Readers | Which is Better?

As you learn songs and work through your music books, do you memorize the notes? Or do you read along every time you play? In this post, music teacher Vanessa G. discusses the pros and cons to the approaches...   Imagine your teacher gives you a piece of music to study. What's your process? Do you listen to a recording, memorizing the melody and the stylistic aspects before you begin, and then as you play? Or would you sit down and sight read the notes, and perfect it from that star …
