My goal as a teacher is to help you reach your musical goals! My lessons consist of scales, duets, and solo repertoire. Each lesson is different depending on the student I am working with, but the core of my teach is based around these 3 areas.

About Victor

Victor is a wonderful teacher. He’s very patient and focuses a lot on the important fundamentals. I’m an adult student and he was very encouraging and helpful.

As a 40 year old beginner I was a little nervous about the whole online experience as well as starting a new instrument. Victor makes the online teaching experience seamless. Victor is calm, thoughtful and patient. He always finds a way to explain something in a way that relates to me specifically. To do this someone must be able to listen as well as teach. This is quality I have not found in all of my teachers/instructors/coaches throught the years. Victor is also easily the most flexible of any teacher I have had. He always finds a way to accommodate my schedule and works around any issues that arise. I have really enjoyed my learning experience thus far and look forward to each lesson. I would not hesitate to recommend Victor to anyone looking to learn the cello.

The cello isn't a particularly easy instrument to learn, but I will say that it is SO worth it. It takes work, but what doesn't? Cello is my passion, and I hope I can help it become yours.

About Leah

I have been learning music since I was 6 years old. It was a requirement in our house, but, nonetheless, growing up in a house of musician siblings had me excited to get started. With 13 siblings, you can imagine that our house was always full of some kind of music. Having grown up in that world,

Nice to meet you! My name is Eunice and I am a cello teacher. I received my bachelor and master degree in cello performance at the New England Conservatory of Music, and am currently pursuing my doctorate degree in cello performance at Indiana University. I am a teaching artist for the Boston Philharmonic teaching artist program where I teach elementary and middle school, and adult students in group settings, private lessons, as well as orchestra sectionals. I am also a part of the music program “Teach to Learn” as a cello mentor where I have virtually connected and taught cello to a student from Syria.

I will help you develop technique, musicality, and rhythmical skills that will make way for a freedom of expression. Solid technique is necessary for one to make music. The more tools one has the more variety and dimensions the music has. This will be done through emphasis and practice of scales, etudes, cello method books, as well as caprices for students who are more advanced.

As a teacher, I enjoy cultivating joy and curiosity through cello and believe in creating a warm, open environment for students to develop into inquisitive lifelong learners! While I work with students individually to come up with their own goals, some of the core objectives I have for my students is to develop solid technique and tone quality as well as expression and satisfaction through creating music. I use a variety of tools for learning from standard technique books and classical repertoire to fiddle tunes and rote learning. I believe every child and adult is musical and am excited to explore the cello with you!

"I’ve been taking jazz improvisation and composition lessons with Daniel for a year now, and it would be no exaggeration to say that these lessons have been truly transformative, mind-expanding and creatively uplifting for me. Daniel is an incredibly inspiring musician and teacher, he has massively broadened my view of what is possible to do in music in general. With his help and encouragement, a whole new creative beginning in my life has come about which I previously hadn’t thought possible. Writing music has now become something I can’t imagine my life without, and it is immensely fulfilling to receive Daniel’s thoughtful and astute feedback on my writing at each lesson. At all levels - from minutiae of notation to phrasing and higher-order structuring of a piece - I’ve learned so much from Daniel. It’s been an enormous honor and joy to be guided in my first steps in composition by Daniel’s brilliant and nourishing mentorship."

"Dwight Anderson was a fabulous cello teacher for my son from preschool through high school. He was, in fact, the best music teacher we ever had for either of my children - through all of their piano, violin and cello instruction. He was consistent and nurturing, able to push the boundaries of expectation, and able to inspire. Although he only taught my son, he influenced my daughter as well by encouraging them to both participate in the GDYO. He was masterful in choosing certain pieces of work that inspired my son to practice and to perform. Even though he certainly assigned scales and etudes, he always allowed him at least one piece of his choosing that gave him such a sense of accomplishment. For example, my son learned to play the prelude of the Bach suite in G even before he started the 1st grade. That is still his favorite piece! And, starting around 7th or 8th grade, he let his pick which "big work" they would tackle for the following year. We went through the Lalo cello concerto, Faure's Elegie, the Saint-Saens concerto, Popper's Hungarian Rhapsody, Dvorak's Rondo, and finally, "The Dvorak", for his senior project in high school. Even though my son didn't always learn all the movements of the concerto or learn it to perfection, Dwight's partnership with my son in picking these pieces gave him such a love of playing the cello! What a wonder and a gift!
In the years since high school, Dwight has kept up with my son, even though he chose a non-music career path and a life in the north east. We will be forever grateful for Dwight and the influence he has had on my son in particular, and, for his influence on the whole family for deepening our appreciation of beautiful music. Thank you, Dwight!"

"Lucas is a very patient, kind-hearted mentor to all his students. As part of the Stringwood Chamber Music Festival Assistant Faculty, Lucas has experience teaching a wide age and experience range of cellists and chamber groups, from early middle school to collegiate level. Lucas is able to thoroughly address complex musical and technical issues in a nurturing, understanding environment. It has been a privilege to witness Lucas' passion for music engage and excite the students to dive deeper into the repertoire and ignite their motivation to challenge themselves to the next level of musicianship. I highly recommend Lucas as your next cello and chamber music teacher."

"Megan is absolutely THE BEST! After 10 online classes with her, as an adult student, I cannot believe how much I have improved, how much confidence I have gained, and most incredibly, how much passion I have grown for cello. Megan is so kind, encouraging, genuine, positive, passionate, and knowledgeable! Her instructions are so concise and effective, that she can pinpoint exactly what I need to improve and offer the best explanation/technique. I have small hands with short pinky fingers that used to lead to a lot of frustrations. After meeting Megan, I have learned to comfortably face my disadvantages while minimizing the negative impact by her wonderful encouragement and practical techniques. She is WAY BETTER than my other teachers, and I had both online and in-person experiences prior to studying with Megan. I felt so fortunate to have found Megan as my cello teacher!"
