I am currently a last year doctorate student in clarinet performance and the clarinet teaching assistant at the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami. In May 2016, I graduated from California State University with a Master in Music in clarinet performance under the teaching of Hakan Rosengren, international soloist. In 2017, prior to my doctorate studies, I studied with Boris Allakhverdyan, principal clarinetist of the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
I am also a Buffet Crampon USA artist.

I have the experience of teaching private lessons in France and America and I am seeking clarinet students of every level and age.

I will focus my teaching on your needs and can help you improve technique, musicianship and sound production. I also can help you get ready for auditions and recitals.

Tyreese is super patient and thoughtful in his instruction and fine-tuning. Couldn’t have asked for a better instructor after a 30 year hiatus from an instrument that is fast becoming so dear to me once more!
Charles R.
Very good, very clear, very patient. I can actually make a sound out of the clarinet.

The teacher was wonderful. But the platforms connection was poor. Really enjoyed the lesson.

I have over 20 years of teaching and playing experience, and have worked with all ages and abilities. My youngest student is 4 years old, and I have helped folks in their 80's learn new instruments!

About Lisa

Lisa has been great at explaining some aspects of Jazz theory and improvisation that I have missed or only glossed over in the past. "Matt is great, he is teaching 3 of my kids! Clarinet, alto sax, and flute. Very patient with my daughters as they work through their new instruments. They have progressed so much faster than the rest of their classmates, and discouragement has turned into excitement. They look forward to their weekly lessons."

"Bill helped me get back on track with the clarinet when I returned to playing as an adult, years after I'd played as a kid. He met where I was and helped me get to where I wanted to go--playing jazz. Besides being a good and patient teacher, he had a lot of innovative ideas for music selection, accompaniment options, and practice techniques. I recommend him to students of any age."

"As a language teacher, I was looking for a clarinet/saxophone instructor with excellent communication skills and the ability to teach musical technique in an empathetic way. I was lucky to find Masaru Koga in Cupertino, California.

I enjoyed weekly lessons for about three years and really reached the point where I was constantly improving my clarinet mastery and getting closer to my performance goals. At one point, I became so enthusiastic, I also began saxophone lessons with Masaru!

I looked froward to meeting him for my weekly lessons and felt he gave more than 100% in patience, encouragement, and musical technique. He has a very warm, giving personality and when we were together, I made great progress and was very motivated to study and practice on my own.

I enthusiastically recommend Masaru Koga to other music students and wish I could be his student again!"

"Bill is a fantastic teacher. I am currently a professional actor/saxophonist, and I was looking to broaden my horizons by picking up the clarinet. Right from the beginning of our instruction, Bill struck a perfect balance: on the one hand, he pushed me to gain proficiency quickly, knowing that I was eager to begin playing at a professional level; and on the other hand, he focused on methodically and meticulously building a solid foundation of strong technique.

In addition, Bill was enormously helpful when it came to selecting the right equipment. He was accessible, knowledgeable, and even perused some available clarinets to help me find the ideal instrument for my goals and skill level.

I could not recommend Bill highly enough. He will tailor your instruction to your skill level, will be supportive and encouraging, and will give you both the tools and the motivation to reach your highest potential."
