Private Piano Teacher

I studied piano at the University of Central Florida and can teach classical piano, music notation, sight reading, harmonic theory, scales, arpeggios, chord progressions, and improvisation. I'm happy to share my skills and expertise with novice players of all ages.

About Gio

I studied music at UCF (Orlando), focusing on classical and jazz guitar, but I also have years of experience playing rock, blues, folk, hip-hop, and musical theater on both guitar and drums.

I have been teaching guitar, drums, and piano for about eight years to students of all ages. Music is what I'm passionate about and it's what I enjoy. I want to inspire that same passion into the hearts and minds of others.

*** Lesson Details ***
I am a laid-back teacher, fun, and I focus on the needs, abilities, and ambitions of the student. In turn, students must realize that learning an instrument takes a lot of work and dedication. One can't expect to learn very much if s/he only practices or thinks about the instrument during the lesson. If the student is willing to put some time into practicing, then I will help them go far!

*** Studi

o Equipment ***
I have several guitars, a drum kit, djembe, mandolin, clarinet and full-size keyboard.

*** Specialties ***
Guitar: Classical, jazz, American or Irish folk, rock and pop; lead or rhythm.
Drums & Percussion: All genres
Piano: Classical (includes sight reading)

When you take piano lessons with me, we'll cover music theory to piano exercises designed to build strength and coordination. We’ll play a wide range of pieces from beautiful classical pieces to your favorite pop music. We’ll break the music down and figure out how it was composed and why it works. And we’ll work together to help develop your sense of rhythm, melody, and harmony so that you can sit down and truly express yourself in impromptu jam, join a rock band, or write a hit song.

I had an excellent experience with Kris. He challenged me but also understood my specific circumstances and pace. He was flexible with scheduling and helped me greatly improve my piano playing in a short amount of time. We worked on arranged music and songwriting. I’d recommend Kris for all levels!

I am an extremely versatile piano teacher with over 30 years of experience. My Russian-based training in both piano and ballet enables me to understand and teach a relaxed, coordinated approach to the instrument. If you have technical problems or limitations, I'm a great troubleshooter! I emphasize reading, as this is the skill that makes it possible for you to enjoy playing the piano for the rest of your life. I have developed my own curriculum for students as young as four, but I enjoy helping students of all ages conquer their fear of reading. I'm a serious teacher with an irrepressible sense of humor.

Private Piano Teacher

I started teaching piano when I was 18, and I always found it deeply rewarding. Through all these years I’ve taught both professional and amateur musicians, and both children and adults. I teach private lessons in New York City, and via Skype. I don’t teach any preconceived method or approach, I like to work according to the interests, needs, and abilities of each student.

I teach piano, both classical and jazz, and other topics that you can find at any conservatory, or music school auditions: Composition, Ear Training, Harmony, Counterpoint, Rhythmic Training.

I’ve been lucky enough to have studied with many great teachers around the world. Some of them, such as John Bloomfield, Edna Golandsky and the late Sophia Rosoff, known all over the world for their teaching abilities and considered as some of the top pedagogues of the piano in the last decades.

About Santiago

I hold a master on jazz performance from the Prins Claus Conservatorium (Netherlands), and I've studied classical music for over 15 years with some of the best pedagogues in the world (Edna Golandsky, Sophia Rosoff, John Bloomfield, Paul Komen). The thesis of my Masters was based on healthy piano playing, and how to play and teach it to avoid fatigue, pain and injuries. This is a serious issue that most unexperienced piano teachers have no idea about, and many experienced either. I'm easy going, and enjoy my time with children. They usually have a lot of fun at the lessons, and we can always learn to improvise, to compose, and to play classical repertoire, jazz, children songs or pop music.

As a pianist I've worked for Cunard Line, Royal Caribbean Cruise Line and Holland America Line.

Private Piano Teacher

I believe that the most effective teaching approach involves a positive and engaging environment with the aim of increasing a child's sense of confidence and autonomy with the skills as we work through their difficulties. This 'friend approach' promotes an environment in which children feel safe asking questions and expressing confusion in our sessions, which allows us to work together and develop tactics that allow the child to better handle these struggles independently in the future. I have seen my students flourish in both the lesson environment and at home as we have worked to learn and improve problem solving skills and passion in their music.

About Maiya

I have worked with children for years in a multitude of environments; in childcare, as a music teacher, and as a private tutor. This range of experience has given me the perfect tools to assist children with tackling the many obstacles faced both with school work and in music lessons. "It has been a joy and a blessing to have Nancy as a piano teacher for my two children over the past 6 years! She has given them not only a sound, well-ro
unded piano education, but she has also gone above and beyond by truly caring about each of them and giving of her very self for their benefit. She has taken the time to listen, to investigate, and to find ways to encourage each of them to overcome challenges and to grow in their unique styles and talents. She has used a multi-faceted approach with my children, simultaneously building their knowledge of music theory, ability to sight-read, and understanding of varying kinds of music (including but not limited to: classical, jazz, show tunes, popular music, hymns, praise/worship)... all the while fanning the flames of each child's God-given passions and talents. (For example, she has helped them develop their compositional and improvisational skills as well.) I am very thankful for the role Nancy has played in my children's lives! I know absolutely that having her as a piano teacher has had a profound positive impact on their musical journeys."

5 Jazz Piano Exercises for Beginners

By Brooke Neuman

Do you want to sharpen your jazz piano skills? Below, piano teacher Jason B. shares five jazz piano exercises you can do to bring out your inner jazz pianist... Jazz is one of the few piano styles that allows total creative freedom. Expert jazz pianists reshape not only the rhythms and melody of a song, but they are also given a solo section that allows them to create new melodies on the spot. While this creative freedom is liberating, it also can be overwhelming when you're just sta …
