About Vincent
I have taught for 18 years, giving both private and group lessons. I am a professional musician, having played in numerous bands, recorded and played shows. I have taugh all ages, and all elvels, and all styles. I play a number of instruments including piano, guitar, bass, violin, banjo, mandolin, and harmonica, in addition to writing and singing. I took private lessons for over 10 years, and also studied music in both high school and college.

*** Lesson Details ***
A student can expect to be treated with respect, and have a lesson tailored around their abilities, interests, and amount of practice time. I make the lessons fun but also informative. I try to get to know my students so that they feel comfortable. I am laid back, but also determined that a student practice well, and learn not only the instrument but music fundamentals a
s well. I try to show students that learning music is a lifelong pursuit that can provide all types of fun and personal fulfillment, in addition to being a potential career and social outlet. After 3-6 months, the student will be playing songs, good ones, not just scales. They will also have learned basics, such as chords and scales, as well as sight reading.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Basement converted into music studio with instruments, and piano and keyboard. Parents can sit in on lessons. Street parking available.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I provide all lesson materials, listening examples, and, on occassion, an instrument. I often use my laptop to play songs and tutorials for students (who don't buy records like we did in the old days.) Generally, students must provide instrument.

*** Specialties ***
I tailor my lessons based on three factors: a student's interests, their ability, and their amount of practice time. I do not use a cookie cutter method of teaching because each student is different. I have studied, formally and informally, rock, pop, blues, jazz and classical. My specialties are rock and blues. On occasion, I will use method books, such as the Schirmer books for piano, but only if the student clearly seems to benefiting from them.

Playing the violin is easy, once you realize that it is a kind of singing! Although it has perhaps the most complicated technique of any instrument, it is simple once you understand the focus of the technique.

About Stephen
I have been playing music on the violin since the age of 7, composing since I was 14, and playing and performing on the guitar since I was 18. I've written a lot of music, and this past spring had works performed in Virginia and two in Manhattan.

I have taught music for over 15 years, in colleges, music schools and privately. One thing that I have noticed is that, with more experience, I have a lot more fun--and so do my students.

My violin and viola students study classical Russian technique--used by the best players in history. It involves efficient use of the body, both to avoid injury when playing and also to get the best possible sound from the instrument. Students progress in technique, musicality, and music theory.

About Elana
Hello,

My name is Elana. I'm a professional violinist and enjoy teaching students of all ages and levels. My students have ranged from ages 4-64. Their goals have ranged from pure enjoyment to those considering a career in music. My goal is to help each student play to the best of their abilities and for them to enjoy the lessons. Violin is my passion, which comes through in my enthusiasm during lessons. I am gentle and patient but also honest and very particular about what to look for when practicing.

I take great pride in teaching the Russian method. Not only is the technique I teach used by the best violinists of all time, it also emphasizes efficient and correct use of the body to avoid injury and develop a tone with richness and projection.

What I look for in a student is a commitment to practicing every day. It's an
adjustment in the beginning for many, but once established simply becomes part of the day, like brushing your teeth. Over time, students hear improvements from practicing consistently and this creates a very positive experience. The violin becomes a source of joy and confidence.

Violin lessons help develop skills such as coordination and focus at the highest level, persistence, confidence, creativity, patience, and many other "life" skills whose benefits extend far beyond music lessons. Many people who achieve success in a career outside music later in life often credit their music lessons as having been key in that process.

As far as my musical background, I received my music degree from Rutgers University, where I was a recipient of the Marryott Music Scholarship. Upon graduation I freelanced as a violinist in the NYC metro area. My major teachers include Neil Weintrob and Lewis Kaplan.

As a teacher I have 20 years of experience. I've worked in various programs and currently teach violin and viola lessons at a local private school, in addition to running a private studio of violin and piano students. My violin students have been concertmaster, principal players, and section players in orchestras such as All-County, Region I, and NY Youth Symphony.

Feel free to contact me with any additional questions you may have. I look forward to working with you.

Hey there explorer!

So you thought the violin is only meant to play Classical music? Think again!
With over 13 years of experience in improvisation in many different musical styles on the violin, I will show you the methods to explore and teach yourself any type of musical style you'd wish to play!

Although being mainly a Jazz violinist, I have performed and recorded in many different musical genres and improvisation styles including Blues, Trad Jazz, Rock, Indian Classical music, Bluegrass, Jewish Klezmer music and more. Since students spend most of their crucial development time individually in the practice room, as a teacher my biggest ambition is to teach my students 'how to be your own teacher' (I know it's kinda shooting myself in the foot :] ). Based on my 20 years experience playing the violin and other instruments, my training in Alexander technique, teaching artistry, psychology, philosophy and meditation, I've accumulated a set of methods and ideas about how to ...

About Omer
An award-winning Jazz violinist and a graduate of The Newschool of Jazz, These days I'm recording and performing on stages around the world playing Jazz, Rock, Folk and more.
Would love to share with you some of my secrets! Teaching improvisation and basic violin for all levels. Also teaching audition prep and ear training!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A few years ago a musician I really admire told me how he believes that every musician has to be teaching at some point in his career. He has seen it not only as a suggestion but as an obligation, a responsibility of an artist to pass on his knowledge for the next generations. My life circumstances only make this belief stronger within me year after year.

As a young Violinist in Israel that experienced a crisis with Class
ical music and the Classical school, I’ve been looking around for non-classical Violin teachers in vain. I’ve figured out that in order to play the music I want on the Violin I’m going to have to teach it to myself, thus becoming an independent learner which is most likely the greatest gift I’ve ever received as a musician and a teacher.
I had to read books, watch videos, ask people how they practice, use my ears because I had no scores to any of the music I wanted to play, explore. I had to criticize myself, I had to remain conscious about my playing and what I think is missing in my playing in comparison to other players, analyze what is it that excites me in one’s music or playing. Most of all, I had the privilege to remain attentive to any new idea being suggested to me, because no one ever taught me what the “truth” is.

Be your own teacher. That is perhaps the only “truth” I would force upon my students. As part of my teaching philosophy, I'm seeking to not only teach my students the skills they wish to acquire but to show them how to determine and teach themselves new skills they 'need' or desire to acquire.

With over 8 years of experience teaching private students of all levels and conducting Jazz violin workshops for small groups, I like to incorporate my knowledge in music teaching with other knowledge in learning techniques and education I've acquired through training in Psychology, leadership and education, Alexander technique, Teaching artistry, meditation and social work.

Omer is giving Violin lessons to my youngest son Eric for the last 6 months. Eric started playing the guitar a few years ago up until a movie he recently saw on a Japanese brilliant violinist , a week later he told us on his will to tryout the violin. Fortunately We heard Omer playing in a jazz club, and contacted him a few days after, Omer is a very talented musician but has unique capability and patient for his students. Omer is teaching with a very relaxed, positive attitude, his passion for music with small anecdotes and humour was what made Eric to get in love with the instrument and he is Impatiently waiting for his next lesson. we highly recommend Omer as a teacher and musician.

Dounis technique for string players

About Martin
I am a professional musician who has performed at Lincoln Center, on Broadway, and as a soloist in the US and in Europe. I first graduated from Stanford University and then received a Masters degree at Juilliard. I have taught students of all ages but specialize in working with high school and middle school students in developing their potential.

I learned the Dounis technique, a type of technique that teaches the performer to work naturally with the body to avoid future injuries and difficulties due to tension, poor posture, and bad habits. It is important to give students the technique that is right for them as an individual, not just the same system for everyone.

I am willing to teach at my home or travel to yours in Manhattan.

Congratulations on taking the next step to mastering your instrument and truly becoming an artist. Playing music has benefits for every aspect of life: creativity, technique, focus, and fun are encouraged as we learn how to become better musicians.

I am currently accepting students at my UWS studio, offering private lessons for all ages and abilities in viola and violin.

About Mattie
"Mattie is the best viola teacher in the world" says my six year old son. I also am a student and really appreciate taking lessons with Mattie. She is thorough and focussed and pays close attention to each student. I like her whole body approach to teaching proper form and am unlearning and learning a lot. - Rachel, adult viola student

I am a passionate arts advocate and teacher, and am here to help you bring your musical goals to life! I am a conservatory trained violist, with over a decade of teaching experience. My true love is classical chamber music, but I also have toured internationally with indie rock bands. I specialize in Dalcroze Eurhythmics, a method for teaching rhythmic movement as well as physical and instrumental improvisation.

My expectation of the student is that they are enthusiastic about their lessons and
willing to put in the demanding work that is necessary to fine tune their artistry. Together we will decide on pieces and goals according to your technical abilities and musical interests. For younger students, parents will have a role in the success of their child’s music education. Performing opportunities will be available since it is my philosophy that music is a gift that should be shared.

Hi I'm Sam and I'd love to be your new violin teacher! I have been playing violin for about 12 years now, and I've been teaching lessons on the side for 6 years while going to school. I am currently enrolled in the Conservatory of Music at Brooklyn College. I previously graduated with my Associates Degree in Music from Suffolk County Community College. I have a lot of experience with people of all ages from 3 to 70 I've taught them all. I have a very firm understanding that every person has different interests and learning abilities so I like to make my lessons very versatile to meet the students needs and wants. I know learning and instrument can be hard, but there's no reason it can't also be fun! Whether you're into jazz, pop, classical, if you're a fast learner or take some time to catch on, I will do my very best to make the perfect lessons for you! Learning shouldn't be a chore!

About Sam
I have been pursuing the violin for about 12 years, as well as viola and cello. I am currently enrolled full time a the Conservatory of Music at Brooklyn College in pursuit of my degree in Music Education. I have been working very hard at my goal of becoming classroom music teacher. I have been teaching private lessons for 6 years, privately and at different studios on Long Island before I moved to Brooklyn for school. I graduated from Suffolk County Community College with my Associates Degree in Music in 2017.

I have a wide range of experience with students of all ages and backgrounds. My mission is to find their passion. My favorite thing about teaching music is seeing how proud a student gets when they finally achieve something they thought they couldn't. Music should be a fun experience not a tedious task so I take the time to person
alize lessons for every student I get so that they can get the most out of their lessons.

I have done a lot of research about the benefits that music has on peoples brains and that is why I am so passionate about making music as accessible as possible. Music can improve test scores, improve your mood, and even your memory. It hones your motor skills as well and even the part of your brain that handles language.

I hope that I get the chance to work with you so we can dive into the amazing world of music together!

Sam was my private teacher on Long Island before she moved to Brooklyn. Before Sam I was just playing through school but my teacher said she saw potential and suggested I seek out a private teacher. Starting out with her I was not a confident player, I lacked motivation to practice, and, at one point, I thought about giving up music as a whole. Just weeks after my lessons started with Sam, my confidence boosted a hundred times over. Sam not only helped me fix things I needed help with, but also helped me to improve things I already had down in such a positive attitude. If I messed up in a passage, Sam immediately told me what I did right first. The positive feedback is what I appreciated most as her student. The encouragement, the positive attitude during lessons, and the push she gave for me to strive to be better.

Now, I am a senior in High School and looking into music schools to go for Music Education. I am first chair in orchestra at school, and I got into SCMEA and All State. Because of Sam I have a new love for music and the violin and one day hope to be as great of a music instructor as she is.

Sam is a great teacher. She has everything a music teacher should.. patience, a warm heart, and a love for her instrument.

10/10 would recommend.
