About Ross
Ross has been teaching for five years in both a school environment - in which he helped develop a performing arts department from the ground up - as well as private lessons, where his students succeeded musically and theatrically, having performed on Broadway, Off-Broadway, with the Rockettes, and on international tours. His teaching philosophy is simple. Everyone can sing, most simply don't know how.

As a performer himself, Ross is a singer, actor, and photographer who graduated from the prestigious New York University with a Dual-Degree Master's of Music in Vocal Performance and Vocal Pedagogy. He has performed across the country regionally and on tour, in such iconic roles as "Marius" in Les Miserables, "Jack" and "The Baker" in Into the Woods, "Roger" in A New Brain, and "Anthony" in Sweeney Todd.

About Rod
I specialize in Test Prep (middle/high school Common Core, Regents, SHSAT, etc), college/graduate admissions tests (i.e. SAT/ACT, GRE) and tutor a number of academic subjects in Mathematics (Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus, Linear Algebra, Combinatorics), Statistics and Science (especially Physics). I am particularly interested in Number Theory, Systems Engineering (Feedback Theory), Electronics (Analog Circuit Design), Cosmology. In the social sciences, I was practically exposed to Marketing and HR/Corporate Strategy. I have bachelor's and master's degrees in electronics engineering and business respectively and I enjoy tutoring both children and adults.

My interests also include gifted learning and STEM education. For example, I was successful in helping a 5-year old pass the NYC Gifted & Talented Test so he could e
nroll in any school participating in the program in New York City.

I have several years of work experience as an engineer (hardware+software) and as business developer in multinational companies and startups and this has given me deeper and practical insights into personality and intelligence so I can perhaps bring some encouragement relevant to your current/future vocation. Furthermore, as I have learned from experience, there are three best tools for learning: practice, practice and more practice!

Tutoring for yourself or for your son/daughter is both an investment in time and money for a future return so please also plan accordingly. I only tutor only on occasions when I am available so I am quite happy to be part of someone's educational journey but kindly make sure that you have a very flexible schedule also. When there is a match in both schedule and objectives, I consider it indeed a very special privelege to be able to help a student because it is my experience that effective education can be life-changing.

Tutoring Rate (IMPORTANT): I only do in-person tutoring because I believe effective learning is multi-dimensional and personal not flat and distant. My minimum lesson length is 1.5 hours for Academic subjects and 2.0 hours for Test Prep. My rates for children and teens will be in principle the same as adults because I invest at least an equivalent amount of time and effort and I have to consider at least 2 individuals compared with an adult student (so in reality, I have to charge more)! Different arrangements possible on a case-by-case basis and in general I do offer DISCOUNTS for 5 lessons or more after the first session (see each subject rate for more details). Finally, I am aware that other tutors may be in a better position to meet your budget and situation so we have to accept that.

When I am not tutoring, I am involved in projects related to technology, hospitality and service industries. I also enjoy cooking especially when I can make an ordinary dish into something extraordinary by adding that little "extra."

I asked Rod to work with my daughter on geometry to help her get ready for 9th grade. Rod explains each concept and its application very well. His lessons are appropriate for grade level but also challenging. I am particularly happy that my daughter is learning a broader approach to problem solving and critical thinking. As a scientist (PhD in chemistry) and a mother of a teenager, I appreciate Rod’s approach as it will provide a solid foundation for my daughter’s learning for many years to come. And he is always on time and gives me an overview of what was covered and what will be covered after each lesson. I highly recommend him.

I has reached out Rod at the point in which I resigned and I was expecting to get "B" in my statistics class. I was not confident and constantly struggled in responding to the test questions because I was not sure of concepts. Rod explained me concepts step by step in a very simple way also, by drawing the graphs and that everything was clear for me as visual person. He was able to answered and explained all my questions that I was well prepared and confident on my final exam. Thanks to him I gained the necessary knowledge and I ended with "A".

We originally solicited Rod's support in order to help get our 8th grade daughter up to speed in math class. With high school rapidly approaching, we wanted to ensure that her footing was solid for the rigors of the high school curriculum. As the New York State testing approached, we asked Rod to take some time in the weekly sessions to work on test-taking skills and to do a bit of brushing up on skills that my daughter may run into trouble with. I had my daughter take last year's 8th grade state test (which I found a copy of online), and asked Rod to review her work and help address the learning gaps. Rod's approach was to help my daughter recognize that she actually did know how to do many of the questions that she answered correctly, and with helping her reframe some of the questions, she was able to recognize that the test was not in fact, blind siding her which did wonders for her confidence. Rod spent ample time discussion stress reduction techniques, both before and after the test. As an incredibly supportive gesture, he followed up with us after each of the test days in order to inquire as to how she did, and show she was feeling overall. Rod's contribution definitely helped alleviate her anxiety and bolstered her confidence. By the end of the test she felt confident that she had performed to the best of her ability.

About Chris
Hello I'm Chris! I am a Senior Software Developer specialized in website development. I graduated cum laude with a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology and a specialization in Web Applications.

I am tutoring students in computer knowledge and Information Technology since the beginning of the year.
I worked as a Web Producer at Barnard College in New York City for a full semester and I also worked as a Lead Developer during three years.
I currently work full time as a Software Developer with a start-up in New Jersey and I am also finishing my Master's degree in Information Systems.

Learning about computers, development in school and knowing how hard it can be, I came to a realization that what we learn is most of the time not what is being used on the job. Therefore I try to teach and give my students the exact skills they will
need in order to succeed in their careers and personal endeavors.

My lessons aim to everyone: children, teenagers and adults with all levels.
The method I use is based on active learning with interaction in order to make my students practice what they learn directly on their computers.

As a tutor but also as a professional, I want to benefit the students I work with as much as possible to achieve that I make sure that my lessons are always tailored to the students and as personal as possible. I am also open to suggestions because the most important thing for me is that the students enjoys our lessons.

I am very easy going and will always answer you as fast as I can so please feel free to reach out to me with any questions!

As a Software Developer I am very competent with basic computer programming. I have a very good knowledge of HTML, Javascript, CSS, JQuery, Angular and other front-end languages. I also teach about content management systems such as Wordpress and Magento.
Having worked at an IT help desk, I also have very good knowledge of computers in general such as Macbook and Windows based computers.

Please reach out if you are interested in learning about website development or just computers in general. I can not wait to help you reach your goals!

I am a professional photographer and I love shooting events all over this beautiful city!

My interest in photography developed at a very young age. My senior year of high-school I did an independent study of Photography which required me to assist students with their work in the dark room. This is where I discovered the fulfillment that came with helping others understand the ins and outs of photography.

In college, I spent hours after class working in the dark room and the digital lab. I was completely captivated by the endless capabilities that the Adobe Creative Suite programs had to offer. This played a key role in my current style of project fruition.

In the more recent years, I spent a lot of time editing photos for fashion and advertising needs. A few of my friends in the industry asked me if I could teach them the basics
of Photoshop so they could add that skill to their resume. I happily agreed!

This quickly turned into a regular gig via word of mouth and I hope to continue to help others get acquainted with these tools and develop their digital artistic ability!
