I have taught all levels, using the methods of Giuliani, Carcassi and Sor. Also I encourage my students to develop a basic repertoire for performance, a knowledge of theory and fundamentals.

About Juan

Originally from Colombia, Juan has been a resident of New York City since 2008. His music blends classical, modern, and avant-garde elements. He draws from his experience as a recording and touring rock guitarist in Colombia and Miami, his studies of East Asian music, inspired by interaction with m

Juan went through many fundamentals of classical guitar, how to place your hands over the strings for articulation and economy of movement. Very useful.
Dawn G.
Juan is wonderful and very knowledgeable in music. He is very patient and makes you feel comfortable. I leave a lesson feeling like I am accomplished and relaxed. It nice to see progress in such a little time. I go home with enthusiasm to learn more and want practice to do so.
Chrystine R.
With a patient and intuitive approach, Juan tailors each lesson to fit not only the student’s skill level, but also desire for depth of understanding. When I first began taking lessons, I was only able to plunk a few chords and play along with a few basic songs. However, over the course of a year and a half with Juan, I gained a foundational knowledge of the classical guitar, as well as the confidence to site read and play a range of other styles of guitar music. He seamlessly integrated music theory concepts into song studies, helping me learn major/minor scales and chord shapes, and then apply this knowledge to better understand song structures and composition. It has been such a great experience learning from Juan, especially because he is both an exemplary teacher and guitar player!

Music lessons with me are vibrant in all the sense of the word, and at the same time my abilities to connect with the students are seamless. I had the opportunity to work with young kids from the age of four years old to forty years of age, because of this I have developed a special kind of patience that transcends my students and the classes.

Aside from muy musical background, I am from Mexico, Veracruz where there are so many sounds and rhythms that are part of me and that are very unique. Also, my travels around places like Brazil and Italy has given me a peculiar way to see, think and express music.

My methode of improvisation is based in concepts developed with the help of my mentor, the Master Drummer Michael Carvin.

About Eduardo

Im a classical trained guitarist, I did my classical studies in UDLAP (Mexico) under the mentor-ship of the great cuban educator and guitarist Manuel Espinás and did my counterpoint studies with the American composer Brian Banks. I worked in the musicology field in Mexico collaborating with importa

Mr. Aragon has continually shown me his love for music through his teaching. As an instructor, he paid close attention to my technique when playing the piano, guitar, or flute, and helped me improve it. Through the years, he has strongly influenced my love for music, and I continue to use what he has taught me when playing instruments and music outside the classroom. Overall, Mr. Aragon is a great, professional instructor who is passionate about teaching students music through music theory and his love of rock n roll and classical music.

I went for my first lesson this morning & John was excellent! Very professional & informative. I look forward to more upcoming lessons in the following weeks!!!

Mr.Aragon was my son’s grade school music teacher for 8 yrs. He is very patient and encouraging, and my son really enjoyed it when Mr.Aragon would teach the class music from the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s. Now my son appreciates Motown, Michael Jackson, the Beatles, and Billy Joel as much as he does current alternative music, and he is 13!

She combines yoga, psychology, singing, and digestible music theory to every lesson. You will stretch, sing, and clap your way to greater piano proficiency. Taking piano lessons from Marye is good for your soul.

“After decades of thinking I'd lost my ability to sing, I learned how to finally sing utilizing my diaphragm while studying with Marye! She helped me locate my vocal range, which was huge, while making it feel so inclusive and safe! The joy of singing has returned to my life through Marye's skilled, sensitive and sweetly cultivated music space.”

"My daughter has been taking lessons with Mark for a little over a year. She has learned songs she likes and Mark helps build her abilities and confidence. In her words: Mark plays along with you and tells you what you’re doing well and what can be improved. He gives good tips about how to work on what you need to improve. He recommends songs to play but also asks what songs you want to play."

Off and on since my 20s I've fooled around with guitar lessons but never lasted very long. I am 62 now. I relayed this to David and he laid out an organized plan for systematic improvement. But he was very honest with me about the importance of good practice habits. I've been with him almost 5 months and showing progress. His enthusiasm and patience is appreciated. Thanks, Dave."

"I love that the 5-star rating description is "Best instructor ever" because I often tell people that my son's guitar teacher is the best music instructor we have ever had. I have 5 kids, and they have played piano in the past. This year my oldest is taking guitar for the first time. The thing that I love most about KJ is that he doesn't just teach my son how to play the notes -- he teaches him how to play music. There is a big difference between those two, and KJ is helping my son to see the music beyond the notes. KJ does a great job teaching notes, theory, and technique, but he teaches so much more that that as well. I can't say enough good things about KJ."
