Hey There! I'm Chaneé. I am an American Sign Language tutor and professional Actress. Over the years I have taught ASL to many actors for specific roles and just great students who wanted to learn to communicate with the deaf. If you have friends or family that is deaf or dealing with hearing loss learning ASL is a great way to communicate and build stronger relationships. Maybe you want to become an interpreter or just learn a song for a church service or a role in a movie. Many parents use sign language or baby sign to communicate with their children. No matter the reason, I'm here to give you all the ASL you want to learn at your pace.
I studied ASL and Deaf Culture at Philadelphia College and the Philadelphia School of the Deaf while attending the University of the Arts for Theater Arts. On top of my overachieving college studie
s.. I also have many deaf friends. I use ASL in my daily life and I'm always thrilled to share the culture and language with others. I am a very friendly person so expect a good time during your lesson. I can't wait to meet you!

Thank you so much for checking out my profile! My name is Tony and I've been teaching formal and private lessons since 1996 and have loved helping my students learn American Sign Language while developing confidence in their skills. I went to Harding University and was trained and tutored by a Master ASL Instructor (CODA) as well as the Deaf community.
My former students have gone on to become Interpreters for the Deaf, Deaf Education Teachers, ASL Teachers, and leaders in Deaf ministry. In fact, I now teach with one of my former ASL students!
I'm a patient and fun person and my teaching style is highly interactive. I look forward to helping you reach your goals!
Please keep in mind that it is very important to practice in between sessions and complete all the suggested activities to help you accomplish your goals faster. ASL
is a VISUAL language and does not follow English grammar rules. ASL has its own grammar and syntax. In fact 50% of the language is comprised of nonmanual behaviors.
My favorite thing about teaching is getting to know my students. Every once in a while I will have a student that wants to be mentored beyond ASL skills and wants further mentoring in learning how to be the best they can be.
I enjoy teaching the Bible class for the Deaf at church as well as being involved in the Deaf community in this area. The Deaf community is a wonderful, vibrant, and very close knit group of people.
Thanks again for reading my bio. I hope to meet you soon!

I cater to many different needs as well! I have taught many children and young adults learning just for fun! Others are more advanced and wish to pursue careers in Deaf Ed and Interpreting. Another one of my highly effective areas is helping those in the medical field learn to better assist their patients belonging to the deaf community.

I will share personal stories and things that happened when I was learning, that if someone had told me different I would not have offended people. I will teach you by association and explain why some signs are what they are. If you are looking for a fun , and informative class sign up for mine today.
I am an instructor at the local Technology Center. I have been signing since 1990. I started out in a night college class as a junior in high school. My dad told me I needed to get a head start on my college life. I asked him what was I going to take...He opened up the newspaper and there it was...The headlines read...New class to offered, Sign Language. I enrolled the next day and have been signing ever since. I have to say it was difficult at first because I speak english, and all the words like and, but, or, was etc were NOT in the signing vocabulary.
Sign Language is not something you will learn overnight. You also have to practice or you will loose what you have gained. I still to this day practice. I practice while I am driving and well needless to say people stare at me....Oh well at least I know I am retaining my pas
sion. I stay involved with the Deaf community as much as I possibly can. I do have many Deaf friends that well keep me on my toes at times. They like to facetime me and show me a new sign they either made up or someone has showed them and they do not understand why it means what it does. I hope you will give me the opportunity to teach you ASL. It is my passion and I love to see people have an interest. Thank you and hope to see you soon
