I got my first camera when I was 8 years old and have been a passionate shutterbug ever since. I can teach you how to use all of the manual features on your camera to get the effects you want to achieve, and I can help you to train your eye to see and capture memorable compositions.
Taking pictures is the first part of the journey - the second is editing them to adjust exposure, saturation, contrast, etc. I work with Photoshop and can teach you how to tune your images and fix problems like lens dust, harsh shadows, or face shine in flash pictures.
I encourage each student to find his or her personal style to express a unique vision. You don't need any experience to become an artist, just the desire to start noticing new things all around you and capturing moments to share with others!

Whether you have never picked up your DSLR camera before or are starting to become serious about photography, my lessons will help you get on the right track. We will go over: how to use your camera in different modes, how to control shutter speed, aperture, ISO, etc. what gear you should get, lenses and more. The ultimate goal is for you to be shooting in full manual mode, and then bring your pictures onto the computer and edit them! Every week, I will give you image shooting assignments and we will do weekly mini critiques. Once you feel comfortable shooting with your camera, we will get into more technical aspects such as printing, post processing, and proofing. I am a "Canon guy", so that brand of camera is my specialty! However, I have worked with students with all camera brands. Just an extra plus if you have Canon! I have been teaching Photography on Takelessons for 4 years now, and I can't wait to see you in class!

I was just not understanding some of the terms and functions...Sam broke it down in "beginner" terms for me. Which is what I needed.

If you’re interested in learning photography – congratulations! Photography is a fun, practical hobby as well as an exciting career. Although learning photography does take a little patience, the rewards are certainly worth it. So, let’s start with the benefits of why you should learn photography.
- The ability to record special events like a child’s birthday, graduation or the family’s vacations with clear, focused well composed photographs.
- Never missing a picture of a special moment because you were searching for the right button or dial.
- Taking photos that you and your loved ones will enjoy displaying on your wall. By capturing your special memories in pictures, you can have a way to document and pass on these memories to future generations.
- Communicating through your photographs. A picture really is worth a thousand words! You can capture an expression that says it all. Or as we've seen in magazines like Time and National Geographic, you can shoot photographs ...

I’ve been trying to learn how to crochet on my own and I wasn’t getting no where, so I got in contact with Larianne and she meet me at Barnes and Nobles for a crochet class. She showed me different crochet patterns and different crochet hooks. She showed me how to crochet. Thanks to her I can make different crochet items.
Larianne was very helpful and I can’t wait to see her again to see what else she can teach me.

Hello, my name is Brandie and I specialize in teaching beginner/intermediate photography. I enjoy teaching this subject to those new to the field or those that want to further their hobby. My focus is on fine art photography so I am well rounded in the use of Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom for post-processing. Photography is an art form and can be utilized in countless ways. Once you master the basics, you can walk away with the confidence to photograph in any setting.
Color, composition, camera settings and of course post processing. I am also highly skilled in photomanipulation and composite work if that is an area you'd like to work on. Photography should be fun, challenging and rewarding, we can bring all three to the classroom to reach your full potential.
About Brandie
I have been a professional photographer for over 9 years and graduated with a degree in photography in 2012. I have a passion for what I do and love to share all the knowledge and experiences I've had over the years. I have a studio west of Chicago that can be used to demonstrate lighting and tec
