I have taught guitar since 2012 and have been playing since 2000. I am happy to take students at the beginner and intermediate levels. I believe strongly in integrating music theory and ultimately moving students toward musical self-suffiency, rather than focusing exclusively on learning particular pieces.

I have taught guitar lessons to a variety of different students, young and old, experienced and beginner! I teach a multitude of different genres and styles including Jazz, Blues, Classical, and Rock! I can help with everything from technique to theory and teach you any song you would like to know how to play. I have toured and played many music festivals so if your goal is to learn how to play guitar in a band setting I can also help with that!

Now here is a little bit about me:

I first picked up the guitar when I was eight years old and immediately fell in love. I began to play in many local Blues bands and went to jam sessions all over the Atlanta area while I was 9-14 years old. In high school, I was classically trained and won multiple classical guitar competitions. I was director of the Advanced Guitar class at my high school and we won superior ratings every single year we participated in the Large Group Evaluation Performance. I have had the great opportunity to teach all levels for over 15 years in the United Kingdom, South Africa and the USA. I have held positions as guitar teacher at many Colleges, Universities and Companies around the UK and USA. I have worked in the distant learning department at the Manhattan School of Music, teaching students around the country from their studio base. With many of my students going onto music schools such as The New School, NYC, Queens College, and the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire I believe that I have a wide range of experience with all age ranges from beginners to beyond advanced. I focus on making the lessons as fun and engaging as possible whilst keeping on track to certain goals set by myself and the student throughout the year.

I am care to keep people engaged in their hobbies. I can find unique ways to teach people from different angles. I have a lot of energy, and I'm always excited to teach.

I spent the latter part of my high school years in Alabama and had to learn a ton of Country licks to keep up with my peers. This provided a great platform for my lead guitar playing and instruction.

Chickin' Pickin', Steel emulation, tone, phrasing, gear, etc! This is a very fun style to play. I can teach both modern and old country styles.
