Mr Yakov is very pleasant, patient and professional. He makes learning fun. One of my daughters is very shy and particular. I was concerned for her first violin. But she ended up loving the lesson and the instructor. We did some lessons online and at his studio. During the online lesson, the connection with our internet was horrible. He could hear her playing but she couldn't hear him. Yet, patiently, he got creative and taught the lesson with my daughter through chat. The environment of the studio is comfortable. You can tell he's passionate about what he does. That left me with a great impression of him. We look forward to more lessons with him for as long as we can.
Thanks Mr Yakov!!!
I provide all of the necessary coaching and teaching advice to get students playing the saxophone, first and foremost.
Once as student reaches a certain level, we can begin to explore the more musical aspects of the saxophone, as they pertain to soloing, playing melodies, improvising and stylistic inflections and tendencies as well as Music Theory.

I provide music lessons to the students of all ages. My main goal is to teach students a wonderful art of music performance and I strive to provide the best music education possible. Each kid and adult is an individual and has its own needs and dreams. I use a variety of music methods and tailor music lessons for each person individually.
For the younger piano students, I require to purchase methods books (Faber’s Piano Adventures). For more advanced students I choose a set of etudes, scale books, exercises and musical pieces that fits student’s level the best and help with gaining needed skills.
For the saxophone and clarinet students, I use variations of methods, etudes, pieces to achieve great results. If the saxophone or clarinet students have the piano at home I will be accompanying their pieces sometimes. In addition to this,
I give a chance to play pieces with play along songs and my wind students can collaborate with my piano students and perform the songs together during the recitals.

Instruments and skills taught: saxophone, flute, clarinet, jazz piano, music theory, composition, song writing, ear-training, electronic music production with Ableton Live.

Hi, my name is Max. I have been teaching for over 15 years, teaching a range of instruments from saxophone, clarinet, and flute, to jazz piano. I also teach music theory, ear training, song-writing, and electronic music production. I teach students of all ages and skill-levels and hold a Masters degree in jazz saxophone performance from Manhattan School of Music, where I am currently on faculty to teach Music Theory and Eartraining at the Precollege Division. I also direct the jazz band at Gill St. Bernard’s School in New Jersey.
I love helping students achieve their goals, and I think learning music should be something fun and enjoyable. I also believe every student learns in a different way and at a different pace. With this in mind, I tailor my lessons towards each individual student and help them set achievable goals, making sure
they are having fun in the process.
Besides playing and teaching the saxophone, I also teach the clarinet, and flute, as well as music theory and electronic music production with Ableton Live. From my wide experience as a performing musician I can teach in a variety of genres, including jazz, classical, pop, and World Music.
I have been fortunate to have taught students all over the world, including Singapore, Africa, and the UK, many times performing along the way. I have led my own band for many years, with performances around the world, and with which I have recorded numerous albums, which can be found on Spotify and iTunes.
When I am not playing or teaching music I love to hang out with friends, be outdoors, and travel to places I have never been before.
I look forward to meeting you and helping you realize your goals in music.
Great instructor, he’s very knowledgeable and also patient when teaching. Highly recommend.

My first lesson was extremely productive. I am an adult student and hadn't played in many years and Max focused on techniques to help me with my weaknesses, and to quickly surpass the level of playing I was previously at. He is patient, encouraging and an excellent teacher.

Max is a fantastic teacher! As a parent I would recommend him to anyone who is looking for a very experienced, kind, and fun teacher. Max is all of these things plus more. What I really like about him, besides that he is very knowledgable and amazingly talented, is that he always has a positive attitude! Lila loves to go to her lessons and she learned so much during her time with Max.
You'll be playing songs in no time! With over eight years of teaching experience with students of all ages, I know how to tailor your experience to you or your child's goals and experience level. I believe that we get the most joy from playing our instrument by developing strong fundamentals so that new musical challenges are enlightening rather than frustrating.
I began teaching in-home lessons to K-12 and adult students in 2010. Since then I have: 1) Taught thousands of fun and engaging lessons to over 150 students 2) Helped high school students attain successful college music auditions 3) Had students on saxophone AND clarinet place successfully in All-State and All-County Honors Bands and Gifted and Talented Ensembles
Whether your student is excelling and wants new musical challenges to stay engaged or you think they could enjoy music but are struggling to keep up, I have experience with that situation. I am a passionate performer myself, and I released my debut jazz album in early 2018. I truly believe that music is one of the greatest sources of joy in the world.
I played the sax through high school and then stopped playing until I retired ~ 4 years ago. I started lessons with Julian when he lived nearby and have continued with "skype" lessons since he moved out of the area. He's a great teacher: motivational, thorough knowledge of both classical and jazz, kind, good sense of humor, and a good communicator. I highly recommend him.

I highly recommend Julian as a saxophone teacher. My son started playing saxophone and taking lessons with Julian three years ago, when my son was 9 years old. Julian is patient with my son and has built a good rapport with him. Julian has always encouraged him to try his best and to not be discouraged when he makes mistakes, and that has made my son comfortable with Julian and confident enough to push himself. Also, Julian is reliable and punctual, and is good at communicating through text and email.
If you choose to take lessons with me, your money is going toward top-notch private music instruction. My curriculum includes goal-setting meetings and check-ups to ensure that my student and myself are both doing our best to realize his or her musical ambitions. I utilize 'before and after' recordings to show my students just how far they've come without even realizing it, stirring up deeper motivation and reinforcing the power of practicing. Although I've been playing for over 15 years and now perform regularly in the NYC area, I don't expect my skills and experience to simply rub off on my students. When you schedule a lesson with me, you are working with an educator, not a performer.
I'm a baritone saxophonist and a die-hard jazz enthusiast living in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. I graduated from Bard College with a BA in music, specifically jazz performance and contemporary composition. In addition to saxophone, I also play clarinet, bass clarinet, flute, and piano (I'm also convinced that I can play the drums, but my friends disagree). Since moving to Brooklyn, I've entrenched myself in the New York music scene, playing mainly jazz, funk and pop, as well as composing my own music on the side.
In addition to performing, I teach regularly, giving in-home lessons to my students throughout the NYC area. I teach all levels of saxophone, as well as beginner to intermediate piano, and beginner flute and clarinet. I offer a rich curriculum with my own set of teaching materials such as, goal calendars, practice logs, and be
fore-and-after recordings. If you are thinking of booking lessons, don't hesitate to contact me via Take Lessons. That way I can ensure that I have space in my studio and that you will get the most out of your experience with me. Can't wait to work with you!
My son, Justin, started taking lessons with Alden about a year and a half ago, and absolutely loved it! Justin has always loved music, and I think that lessons with Alden have taken this up a notch. It's so great to hear Justin's progress and for him to hear it too! Thanks Alden!

Alden is a wonderful young man! Very professional and always prepared, he keeps lessons interesting and fun for my daughter Chanda, who was just a beginner last year. Now she’s playing all kinds of songs and filling our home with music!

If I were to recommend a saxophone teacher to anyone, it would 100% be Alden! My son has been taking lessons with Alden for about 6 months now and I can notice great strides being made in both his playing and overall confidence. Alden's encouraging nature coupled with his love and knowledge of his instrument and music in general creates an incredibly nourishing learning environment for a student. If you are looking for a new saxophone teacher for yourself or your child, you have found the one!
“Is saxophone hard to learn?” Not exactly. The saxophone, like many instruments, is not difficult to begin playing. It can however, be challenging to master
Many people say that it’s easy to make a sound on the saxophone, but harder to make a good sound (at least, at first). But if you’re considering getting started with saxophone lessons - don’t be discouraged! Any self-disciplined student can progress in their saxophone skills by taking the right steps as a beginner.
