My goal as a teacher is to avoid any type of dogmatic "one size fits all" curriculum. I always want to know what music the student enjoys and build my lesson plans based on their tastes. Chords can be physically challenging for beginners so I like to work with single-note melodies early on so that the student isn't quickly discouraged. Learning chords becomes the medium-term goal. As for the long-term, I will then use specific songs as examples for how music theory works in the context of their favorite bands. I am always prepared to adjust my lesson plans based on the students progress and overall comfort zone.

About Chris

My name is Chris B. and I've been playing music for most of my life. The best lesson that I've personally learned is that a musician is never done learning. Once you start believing that you know everything there is to know about your instrument then you've stopped growing musically. Personall

Ian is fantastic teacher. He was so patient with my toddler daughter. And when she became fuzzy during the class, Ian could be so creative to always come out with a way to calm her down and redirect her attention to other musical things. I would love him to be my daughter’s music teacher for as long as possible if I did not have to move.

Ian is very knowledgeable and is great in explaining theory and great in demonstrating so you can understand.

I've known Nathaniel a long time and he is a great guitarist! Highly recommended.

Nathaniel taught my son who was a beginning player on the bass guitar. I couldn't be more please with the results. Nathaniel did all the normal teacher stuff--had a plan, had prepared goals, gave music homework, was timely--but on top of that he had a friendly, inviting personality that invited my son to want to spend time learning music. It was Nathaniel's happy, inviting attitude that really made things click during my son's lessons and I'm thankful he was willing to take him in as one of his students.

"Paul is a fabulous instructor!! He is so enthusiastic about what he does and takes his time with our lessons. I have never felt rushed at a lesson and we always use up the entire hour. Paul is also very accommodating when it comes to the practice location. He adjusts his schedule to make it easier for me to commute to the destination of the practice. In addition, Paul picks up music very quickly, so any song you want to learn, he will write the notes down for you and teach you to play it! I highly recommend Paul as an instructor because he is very good at what he does."

"Anyone who knows Jeff will agree that he loves teaching. Jeff is a talented musician and a talented teacher. With that in mind, his ability to adapt to individual student needs is exceptional. I took guitar lessons from Jeff as a child, and a wild child at that. Even with all my shenanigans, Jeff never once got angry or raised his voice, but rather he calmly redirected. I' am now grown with three children of my own. Unfortunately we no longer live in Southern California, or I would love for my children to be taught by Jeff. No matter your age (or your children's age), Jeff's ability to teach young, old and in-between is just an example of how versatile Jeff is."
