I teach all forms of literacy including listening, speaking, writing, and reading English. I teach grammar, phonics, word recognition and comprehension, vocabulary, spelling, and effective, expressive, and creative writing skills. I have been an avid reader and writer ever since my elementary school days. At college, I received a perfect score on my departmental English exam. I have three education degrees: A double bachelor's in elementary education and music, and a master's in reading. I am presently a Mesa Laubach Literacy Council Board Member and Tutor. I love to help students become more proficient in the English language.

I have tutored students English and Language Arts at all levels from kindergarten through high school. My daughter was diagnosed with expressive language disorder. I tutored her extensively in English throughout elementary, middle school, high school and college. She graduated from Texas Lutheran University with degrees in Accounting, Finance and Business Administration in 2010.

Lets strengthen those reading skills! We will be using multiple forms of learning techniques ranging from I read to you and show the new words or you can read to me! You can pick your favorite book or I can bring a new story to our lesson. Working online we will be using a screen mirroring capability you can you see me and see the book up close for better exposure to the words on the screen. This lesson is open to requests and changes for what best suites the student. Lets get learning!

I am currently working on my doctoral degree in Psychology at Keiser University's online program. My long-term goal is to become an undergraduate professor and practicing psychologist at a university setting. Yet, my ultimate love is teaching. As a tutor, I enjoy making a genuine difference in the lives of students who have the potential to succeed in school, but just need that individualized attention to boost their level of understanding in subjects, level of comfort in subjects, and their level of concentration/ focus. As a tutor, I have five years of tutoring experience, working with students ranging from Pre-Kindergarten through 10th grade. In addition, I have special experience working with a range of students including those with Learning Disabilities such as Dyscalculia, Dyslexia, ADHD, and Autism spectrum disorder. My teaching methods emphasize successful tutor-student communication in which my pupils have a voice and presence in their learning environment. I focus on forming

Critical reading and reading comprehension stem from critical thinking skills. When tutoring children in reading, I try to use the Socratic method of teaching as much as possible so they can find the answers to questions by themselves and the right answers make sense to them. More importantly, I encourage them to enjoy reading and explore their own creativity. Online tools like ReadTheory and Quill (aligned to the Common Core curriculum) help me assess their reading levels and see which key concept areas they are struggling with. For school or test prep, I teach older students the most straightforward strategies to quickly and confidently find the answers in a passage or text. I also work with them to break down complex material into manageable pieces so they can better understand what they are reading.
