About Brett
Hey Guys,

I'm Brett and I am so excited to start sharing all the wonderful experiences that music has brought to my life, with YOU. I am a recent graduate from New York University with a B.F.A. in Musical Theatre Performance from the Tisch School of the Arts. I work professionally both as a performer and a teacher. I most recently created the role of Jamie in the North American debut of Bobby Cronin's musical "DAYBREAK", and have also been seen around many regional theaters in the country, most notably "The Who's Tommy" at the Berkshire Theatre Festival. As well, I am always gigging as a singer, guitarist and pianist all around New York City. I am a composer working as both a singer/songwriter, and a film scorer. I have been teaching privately for 6 years from all age ranges and all experience levels. I have worked in a variety
of different mediums, and this is exactly what I bring to the table as a teacher. My exploration of music through so many vehicles has brought about a way of thinking; that music at its core is all the same, whether you sing it, play it, pluck it,or hit it! Therefore, lessons with me are about finding your core musician, then ascribing the technical necessities needed to perfect your desired instrument. I can't wait to get started and help you unlock yourself inner musician!

*** Lesson Details ***
As my tag line suggests, lessons with me are about finding the musician inside of yourself. We often forget that music at its' core is about expression. I want to give you the tools, techniques and structure to engage fully, freely and passionately with the rewarding art form of music. For singers, this means tapping into our breath, our bodies and our support to create those sounds that excite, captivate and move not only our audiences, but ourselves. For guitarists, we are going to exercise scales, fingerings and chords so that we develop a tool box for our inner rock star to play with! For pianists, whether you consider yourself a classical, jazz or rock pianist, we are going to build a foundation that allows you to play in whichever style you wish, and a technique that will always be there to support you.

I specialize in online lessons so that I can share this lesson program with student's all over the world! If this is your first time with online lessons, rest assure I will walk you through the set-up and technicalities to ensure the utmost productivity from our sessions!

Whichever instrument you take on, we will be building general music concepts throughout every lesson; playing with theory, chord/scale structure, etc. In this way, we develop that all powerful musician in ourselves who can work in multiple artistic mediums, and find fulfillment in the many facets of this amazing art form.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Lessons are give online, therefore all you need is a computer with a web camera and microphone, and a set up that allows you to play your instrument while on camera!

*** Travel Equipment ***
I will provide the necessary URLs and PDFs needed for lessons!

I believe that progressive teaching must employ constructive pedagogical strategies to foster meaningful musical experiences for students to build and to exhibit competence. My pedagogical model is comprised of a student-centered approach to produce attainable challenges and to affect affirmative changes that will physically, technically, and emotionally enrich each student's performance.

During instruction, I exercise scaffolding methods to facilitate the students' zone of proximal development and innovative questioning to augment students' cognitive thinking and critical thinking skills. Fay is such an amazing teacher! I got into Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School thanks to her. Best Teacher I've had, she helps train your voice and goes through the vocal anatomy so you understand techniques such as proper breathing, posture, coordination, grounding, acting, diction...etc. I've been her student for about a year three years now and I have to say that my voice has improved so much as a performer all thanks to her! If you get the chance, at least take a class, you will not regret it!

With over 10 years teaching and performance experience, I can help you sing your favorite styles authentically, without strain and fatigue! My teaching is very much influenced by my certification in Somatic Voicework™ The Lovetri Method. It is a body-based method of vocal training which is based upon voice science and medicine, traditional classical training, and various bodywork approaches. If you're struggling in a particular area of your voice, I can help you work through those issues. I've worked with hundreds of singers, from beginners to aspiring artists, and I'm excited about helping you reach your goals!

About Cindy
Regardless of where your musical interests lie, I can help you improve your skills! Growing up, I fell in love with playing and singing all styles of music! I've delved into classical, jazz, R&B, soul, gospel, reggae, soca, pop and musical theater, and I can teach you how to apply proper technique to the genre(s) of your choice!

If you're looking to become a better singer, we will focus on finding the beauty and power in your voice in a healthy manner. Vocal health is an important component of everything I teach, and I work to eliminate strain and vocal fatigue. We will work on balancing your vocal registers to give you control over the troublesome middle range. With a healthy foundation in place, we will fine tune your skills by addressing pitch accuracy, vocal control, phrasing, dynamics, expression and microphone technique.

If y
ou're interested in playing piano, you will learn how to read music and/or play by ear. You'll learn scales, chords, arpeggios, sight-reading, and basic music theory. For singers who are interested in piano, I've developed a great technique to teach you how to accompany yourself.

For songwriters, I can help you write stronger lyrics and set them to music appropriately.

In general, I'm pretty upbeat and fun. However, I expect you to practice. When you practice, you hear and feel the difference and everyone's happy! If you don't practice, you'll remain in the same place, and it's frustrating for everyone. :( Please, please, please practice! :)

My degree in music education and wide range of experience allows me to accommodate different learning styles. I have a knack for breaking down seemingly difficult or mysterious concepts in a way that's easy to understand. I also understand the demands of being a full time musician, and can offer advice to students who are interested in going that route.

I would love to help you enhance your enjoyment of music by making it fun and easy for you to learn!

When I first started taking singing lessons, I thought there was no way I could really ever be able to sing. Cindy has helped me to do things that I didn't think possible - sing in key, sing different notes, and relax and enjoy it. I would give her 6 stars if I could!

Cindy is no doubt the ONE when it comes to piano and voice lessons. I have had piano and vocal lessons with other previous instructors in the past, but often felt discouraged, misunderstood and frustrated. However, Cindy literally brought my passion for piano and singing back to life! She's extremely knowledgeable and passionate in her expertise, and she's FUN! I look forward to each and every lesson. I have been taking lessons with Cindy for almost a year now, it's the best decision I have made, and looking forward to many more. I've seen the improvement in both my piano and singing techniques, and learned so much. She is an inspiration to work with and committed to helping you achieve your goals as long as you put in the work and practice. Cindy is invested in your results and growth, once you start you can't stop.

LESSON DETAILS

Whether you are a parent looking for instruction for your child, or for yourself, Rachel can customize the right program that best suits your needs. Her students come from all walks of life and have different goals, but they all have one thing in common. They love performing and have the desire to be the best at their chosen craft (singing/acting).

Some students want to sing/act for themselves, others want to sing/act for a hobby, and others want to be professional performers. That's where Rachel comes in. No matter what your goals are, she can help. Rachel teaches her students how to become true artists without tearing them down and without taking away the part of them that makes them unique. She teaches healthy technique that is based off of the human anatomy; the science of how the body/mind works and how the body/mind can work as efficiently as possible while singing or acting.

Learning how to sing/act is a process and doesn't happen overnight. Rachel's ultimate goal as a teacher is to not only make her students the best performers and singers they can be, but also give them all of the proper tools they need to have a more productive mind frame and become self-sufficient. Of course this can take years to master. It takes time and dedication.

I Havel
found throughout my 25+ years of teaching that learning to sing is much deeper than just singing. It is also learning confidence, how to become an artist how to develop and how to break through emotional blocks that we have all put on ourselves. It is a great way for children, teens, and adults to become stronger, happier, and more confident individuals not only in singing, but in their life. I have seen this confidence blossom over and over especially with my students.

About Elena
BIO: Elena started her musical studies at age 4, singing with the "New York City Opera Children Chorus". She studied at Manhattan School of Music. She studied in Hunter College and Queens College of the City University of New York and the Bejar Conservatory in Salamanca, Spain. She has performed in Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall and throughout Europe as a soloist. She has participated in the Master Classes of Alfredo Kraus and Monserrat Caballé and David Jones. My focus in lessons is on healthy vocal production with an emphasis on physiology. Because singing is very technical I want my students to feel comfortable in their understanding of their instrument. In this way, during performance situations they are able to let their musicality and acting shine without being hindered by vocal difficulty. Depending on the students need diction, music theory, and sight singing will be addressed.

About Natalie
Natalie E is a soprano based in New York City with experience singing in houses across the country. Natalie was educated in voice performance at the College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) where she received her BM in 2011 and MM in 2013. Natalie has placed in competitions such as the Peter Elvins Vocal Competition, the Brookline Music School Vocal Competition, the Baur Scholarship Competition, the Corbett Opera Scholarship Competition, and the New York Lyric Opera Theater National Vocal Competition.

My lessons are productive, intuitive, and fun! My goal is to take the best qualities of your voice and incorporate them into your entire range. My method of teaching is to build upon that which is known and apply it to the unknown in the singing voice. My method is custom built for your unique voice. Above all, I want my students to feel comfortable and confident in my lessons. I have two degrees in Vocal Performance: a Bachelor's from Florida State University and a Master's from Ohio State University.

About Samuel
I am an opera singer currently pursuing a Professional Studies Certificate at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City. I have sung with Opera Columbus, Opera Project Columbus, Ohio State University Opera and Lyric Theatre, Opera in the Ozarks, The Sankt Goar International Music Festival, and Florida State Opera. This August, I will be singing in a production of Mozart's The Magic Flute at the National Opera Center.

At Opera Columbus, I sang in the “Opera for the Young” version of Jules Massenet’s Cinderella in which I played Prince Charming. This version was in English and was toured to underprivileged schools all throughout the central Ohio area. It was an eye-opening and rewarding experience. I am passionate about Opera and sharing that passion with the next generation will aid in their appreciation of music and culture.

I am comfortable teaching many styles of music and singing, namely opera, music theatre, country, and gospel. I will fine-tune your voice to fit the style of singing. After all, technique only exists to serve the style of the music in a healthy and beautiful manner. I grew up on these types of music and I understand the vocal demands of each one of them very well. I sing them all the time!

I am an experienced singer and I know the voice well. I understand its potential and its limitations. If you take lessons with me I will not only improve your voice, but I will also improve your vocal intuition. I will give you the tools to self-diagnose your vocal problems with good technique. I understand that learning how to sing with good technique can be a difficult process, but I have had many teachers and perspectives on teaching voice. With this, I can teach you to sing in a way that you will understand and find fulfilling.

I will help work with my students to not only find their voice, but also build an Appropriate repertoire and cuts of music suitable for any audition.

About Leanne

From that point, I was lucky enough to have a family strange strongly encouraged my dreams of becoming a singer. I started off in Opera, winning second place the Opera Delaware competition at 10, then first place at 17, winning me a scholarship to have private lessons at Oberlin Conservatory. I then decided to focus on Musical Theatre and Broadway. I graduated from The American Musical and Dramatic Academy ( NYC) in October 2000. Since then, I have been very successful in constantly getting cast in shows all over the country.

During my training as an Adler Fellow at the San Francisco Opera, I performed everything from Sondheim to Wagner, and I firmly believe that with good technique, you can easily sing in any style, as I often do. I can work with any age of student, and I am excellent at balancing professionalism with accessibility. My lessons are a completely judgement free zone, your comfort and freedom to relate to me on your level are of the utmost importance. Most importantly, you WILL make progress in each lesson and you will leave feeling better and more confident after each lesson. Let's get to work!

I have sung leading roles at the San Francisco Opera, Los Angeles Opera, and so many more, and I know what it takes to make it on a professional level. I also know that singing is an intensely personal experience, and I provide a non-judgmental, relaxed environment that will help you flourish. Most importantly, I will teach you the basics of Bel Canto technique, with proper breath support, so that you can easily sing any style of m
usic without strain or pressure. I have studied with the top teachers and coaches in the nation as an Adler Fellow and I can address any vocal issues you throw at me, with zero judgement. I care deeply about my students progress, and we will make sure that you take away something from every lesson that helps you grow vocally.

Marina is a natural teacher. She loves to share what she has learned about music and singing. She has a gift for sight reading, and memorizing, which she can do almost always at first read. Everyone in her studio has mutual respect, including her. She has been my student, but now, she is my teacher. With an open mind, she welcomes the chance to learn from others, including her students. She is highly qualified, with a BA in Music from California State University Long Beach, a Performing Arts degree from University of Southern California, a summer with Music Academy of the West, as well as the Merola and Adler programs with San Francisco Opera. An excellent performer, she gives 100% to all her roles, no matter how small, and helps other cast members and crew whenever she can. You will be very pleased at your progress, when you work with her.

Marina was the perfect teacher for my shy sixteen year old who loves to sing but had terrible stage fright! She really brought her out of her shell and made her feel comfortable, AND she'll be singing the lead in Little Shop of Horrors at school this fall!!!!! We are sad to see her go to New York and we miss her but know she had to follow her career. We love Marina!

I am passionate about helping singers unlock their own voices! With over 18 years of teaching experience, I bring a wealth of knowledge that can help you overcome any limitations and sing beautifully. Singing is an expression of joy and has to be learned in a safe, uplifting environment, so I also bring a real sense of compassion, kindness and respect to every singer I teach.

With a certification in the Alexander Technique (body work), I have an intimate understanding of how the voice and the body work. I can coach you to develop the best possible breathing and work with your own body to make amazing improvement in your voice. In addition to freeing your voice, I help you understand how to practice effectively and make positive changes faster.

I welcome every level into my teaching studio from beginning to advanced. Let me show you what I can do for your voice!
