About Samuel
I've been a performing singer-songwriter since 1993. My influences include Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Costello, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, and Richie Havens. I've been teaching private lessons since 2011.

We'll begin with major scales. That way, your fingers will get to know the notes that comprise the chords you'll eventually be learning. Eventually, you'll be able to play whole songs with both major and minor chords and play solos over them (also based on the scales).

I'm a primarily self-taught musician. The bulk of my knowledge came from listening to and imitating delta blues artists such as Robert Johnson and Mississippi John Hurt. Though you will have learned to play campfire standards in fewer than eight lessons, the blues (particularly the form originating from the Mississippi Delta) is the foundation of ALL A

merican music. The better you understand and are able to play it, the more options you will have created for yourself musically. Once you've gained confidence playing the blues, I'll introduce informal jazz. For more information about my curriculum, you may review my published articles on TakeLesson's Teacher Blog. I found Samuel to be very good at making me feel comfortable at acting, even though I'm a fairly introverted person. Also he adapts to the subject and managed to have me memorize 3 pages of script, which is not something I thought I anyone could get me to do.

About Andrea
Bassist and composer Andrea performs extensively within the improvised music scene, across a broad spectrum of genres. His instrumental tone, sensitivity and imagination, and melodic approach to a supposedly clumsy instrument brought him to perform and record with many established musicians. Based in New York City, his work as an instrumentalist and composer can be regularly heard at the top jazz clubs in the city and around the globe.

As a current faculty member of the New York Jazz Workshop, Andrea is a dedicated educator. He has taught master classes at the National Institute of Music and the National University of Costa Rica, at the Boğaziçi University in Istanbul, Turkey and at the Olav Duun Videregående Skole in Namsos, Norway. He also served as an adjunct professor at New York University, where he graduated in 2011 with a Master
of Music Degree in Performance with a Concentration in Jazz as a Fulbright scholarship recipient.

I am extremely passionate for all kinds of food especially healthy food and sweets I have worked in restaurants as the pastry chef and as a line cook , I love teaching what I have learned in culinary school and in professional kitchens . Any one can cook and be proud of their skills in the kitchen as long as they have basic knowledge of what works together. I also have worked with disabled children in schools teaching basic things such as cookies and simple cake. I absolutely love seeing how someone can grow so fast in the kitchen making beautiful creations with some guidance, I have trained dish washers to become line cooks its incredible to show someone how amazing they can be as long as they believe that they can.

About Stephanie
After 15 years working in high-tech I had enough of the constant stress, demanding work and long hours scrunched at my desk trying to solve other peoples issues. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do next so I started taking classes in anything that sounded interesting. I took my first cooking class at the local community college and loved the way it made me feel. It wasn't until I took my first baking class in this degree program that I knew I was home. After graduating with a hospitality management degree, I transferred to Johnson and Wales University in Rhode Island to earn a degree in Pastry Arts

My first job was with the Rhode Island Hospital. This hospital had received great recognition for the quality of food the kitchen produced. The director wanted to create a pastry program to expand the selections even more. Thus starte
d my career.

Coming back to the bay area, I wanted a more autonomous position, so I went into business for my self; first with a whole sale bakery which morphed into a catering business. I did this for 12 years, and loved it. All this time I was teaching community baking classes, adult education baking and pastry classes, and teaching part time at Mission College in Santa Clara.

I was then asked by Mission Valley ROP program to create a culinary/pastry program from scratch. It was a real challenge, but I found I really like challenges. From there I went to work for Whole Foods as a Pastry Chef.

After a few years of working for WFM I started teaching at the Art Institute in San Francisco. From there I went to Le Cordon Bleu, Also in San Francisco.

In the middle of all this I got married to a wonderful man.

The Cordon Bleu closed in September of 2016. Which brings me to the present. I am passionate about teaching baking and pastry, and hope to create a program which will allow students to understand baking, not to just follow recipes. My goal is to flame the creativity, and passion in my student, and fuel the desire to keep learning.

We hired Stephanie to do baking classes for my 11 year old daughter and could not be more pleased!! I came home yesterday to not only delicious pastries, but a brightness and pride on my daughter's face that is rare for her. Seeing her shine and develop her passion is priceless! Thank you Stephanie and we look forward to many more lessons in the future!
