Whether if you need to for work, school or any other reason, expressing yourself with the written word can be challenging without the proper foundation. I will use my academic experience as well as time as editor-in-chief of a publishing company to guide you through the process.

While there are several differences in the type of writing needed for an academic paper rather than a creative piece, all styles share many commonalities. I will help you find your voice and allow you to express yourself in the best possible way in a given situation.

Hello there! I am currently in my sixth year at CSUN studying Nutrition and Dietetics and Asian American Studies. I have experience in teaching a writing course at a university level for students from elementary to college. I am also certified in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages by the International Open Academy, certified in teaching students with disabilities, and homeschooling. As a Nutrition and Dietetic major, I care for my students' wellbeing. I am patient and knowledgeable in providing information and resources for my students to improve their writing skills. I've had a book published and have written for a multi-national newspaper. I also got A grades right up until I finished college with English and Creative Writing. My style of teaching is very relaxed and informal, I want students to feel they can be equals with me, and gain confidence and be proud of their work. I set homework but I also encourage students to get creative in their own time and to show initiative! The most rewarding thing is that with writing, you can nowadays find so many outlets for your work - the sky's the limit!

Lessons can involve looking at literature and different styles of writing, as well as finding something that sparks the imagination and interest. I work especially well with young teens and pre-teens, as well as those who are looking to further their writing skills.

Students can expect to have lessons tailored to their specific needs. I majored in journalism at one of the top journalism schools in the United States. I have also worked as a writing tutor at Northwestern University and have taught English as a Second Language.
