SAT Lessons in Haledon. Amazing Teachers.

I'm a Ph. D chemist trained in a prestigious US university and extensive experience in teaching and tutoring in high school sciences, freshman General Chemistry, sophomore Organic Chemistry, and advanced chemistry courses.

Through one-on-one and group tutoring, the subjects will be presented in a way that caught interest, clarified difficult topics and led student(s) through complex areas, and put knowledge into context so that its relevance was apparent.

As a chemistry educator, especially one who is tutoring at the high school and undergraduate levels, I will bring a lot of energy to my student(s). If I can't get excited about my subject, why should my student(s)? Another important element of my tutoring is encouraging reasoned thinking and rational problem solving, especially in developing logical arguments.

To help you reach your personal academic goals, (whether it be pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, Trig, pre-Calculus or Calculus, SAT, and/or the ACT test preparation, or may be GRE preparation for an older audience) I will find your weak topics and help you understand it fully. For that, I analyze your previous work and we discuss what you did and why. I will help you to see the logic in the solution and understand the relationship between concepts. Between sessions, I will happily answer short questions off the clock by email, or Skype.

For the SAT/ACT test takers my plan is usually for a student to take the practice test at home or school, then grade it and come back to me with the results. We will diagnose your problems (as in “didn’t have enough time”, “don’t know how to approach a problem like this”, “didn’t read the problem carefully”, “made a calculation error”, “didn’t know the definition” and so on) and work ...

A recent student's SAT success story:
During a Summer intercession, the parents of a soon-to-be HS Senior hired me for SAT tutoring. He had stellar grades, shining recommendations, an elite prep school resumé... the real deal! Even so, despite SAT classes and rigorous studying, his exam scores were lackluster at best. I got to work and helped him to raise his composite score by **8 points** in a period of just 6 weeks of tutoring sessions. His previous scores were below the implied minimum for his first choice school. With my help, he brought the score up in time to use it for his application a few weeks later and ... he got in! He now attends that very school, a renowned Midwestern top-25 university.

As a high school student applying to universities, I scored in the 99th percentile on both the ACT and SAT exams, which undoubtedly aided in my acceptance to my first choice school, USC. (Fight on!)

Learn techniques to ace this exam

I am an MIT tutor specializing in math, science, and test prep, and I have received a perfect score on the SAT Math. I have taught math anywhere between pre-algebra and calculus (including including test prep) for 5 years. I also have received perfect scores on both ACT Math and SAT Math Level 2 (SAT Subject Test).

Before we begin our lessons, I ask the student to take a diagnostic test that I provide and discuss the results with the parents and/or student so that we can develop a plan that works the best for the student and his/her schedule.

During the lessons, I drill the students on these topics until I am fully convinced that the student has fully mastered the materials. As we progress through the course and as the student make progress in different areas, I adapt the curriculum so that the students can most benefit from the lessons.
