I believe that a love of learning and a love of teaching go hand in hand. Teaching and tutoring allow me to help others develop that same love of learning that drives me in my studies. I find joy in showing students that intelligence is not fixed, helping them prove to themselves that they can improve their performance in any class with hard work.

The best tutors are people who love both the subjects they tutor and the feeling of helping someone succeed. I have always loved math and science, and part of my tutoring process is helping others to appreciate these topics as well. With words of encouragement and a non-judgmental attitude, I guide students toward a deeper understanding and better problem-solving strategies.

My name is Mena. I have a strong background in math with a degree in Actuarial science and have been tutoring the SAT, ACT, Algebra 1&2, and Geometry for over four years. I have extensive knowledge of the testing strategies needed to make the exam fun and easy. I work with students to find areas that need strengthening then work patiently with them to hone their skills. Successful test preparation is largely about demystifying the test through time spent learning the correct approach which I have years of experience doing, with that confidence students can achieve any score they set their minds to.

Math doesn't need to be hard, you can understand it and even have fun with it! Math is my favorite subject and one that I have been tutoring for several years. While I aim for comprehension over scores, grades typically improve with comprehension. In each tutoring session, you can choose to receive homework help, test preparation, or extra practice that I can supply. When possible, we will try to work a few games in too!
