I specialize with beginner, intermediate and adult learners. I currently hold a degree in music education from LaGuardia Community College, pursuing my master's and bachelor's at Montclair State University this fall for music education and performance for the viola. I'm not afraid of travelling (in fact, I enjoy it!) and am easily reachable and approachable. I understand the world of music, let alone classical music, can be intimidating and challenging; in response to this, I develop an individual basis teaching method as everyone's needs are different and make the experience as fun and engaging as possible.

About Ashley

I am currently a junior at Ramapo College studying music education but I am no foreigner to teaching. I have been teaching for some years now with general ages ranging between 3 to 25, in the violin, viola and cello. I have also taught music theory from a beginner's standpoint to a college sophom

My lesson with Ashley was wonderful. She is very patient and great at explaining things to an adult beginner like me, and clearly very passionate about violin music and teaching. She was very easy to get in touch with after I set up the lessons. Thanks!

Ashley was very helpful to me. I was floundering. I am a brand new 'musician', still learning to read music. I would still be working with her, but I had to move suddenly. She was very encouraging and I hope to be able to continue lessons again with someone in my new location.

About Kimberly

I grew up in a household of 9 where music was always center stage. We would sing as a family in different venues and were often called the VonTrapp family. I have enjoyed singing and performing from a young age. I began studying flute at age 8, after scoring highest in the harmony listening exam an

I have been working with Kim for a few weeks and I have learned a tremendous amount and can hear the difference every week as I progress. I enjoy the process she applies to keep it positive and fun yet learn the proper fundamentals required to perform well. I actually tried a few vocal teachers and Kim with her wisdom and experience made it simple who to go with!!

Kim can teach you or your child, no matter where you are!

I was 30 when I decided to rekindle my love for the violin. I hadn’t played since before YouTube was invented, and I was skeptical about learning violin online. By the first lesson, Kim had already corrected poor habits I didn’t know I had, just after hearing me play a few scales. She adjusted her teaching style to my personality so seamlessly that I felt I was just getting pointers from a dear violinist friend whose advice is always spot-on. Weekly practice never felt like work, because Kim tailored my assignments to my goals. Before I knew it, I was playing complex concertos I could never do in high school. I started out being able to play just one major scale. Within 10 months, I was in Suzuki Book 4!
I can’t say enough about Kim’s expert teaching skills. During a sight-reading of a very difficult piece, I became so frustrated that I wanted to stop the lesson and try again later. Kim encouraged me until I had gotten all the way through, and pointed out what I could learn from my performance. When I had time to calm down, I realized that Kim can do this for any student; adults, children, and adults whose inner child throws a tantrum when they’re frustrated by a musical challenge. :-)

Teachers like Kim are rare, and worth their weight in gold. I learned so much more than violin fundamentals through my lessons with her. I’m convinced Kim can teach anyone, of any age—even through an online platform.

"Charles is very professional, kind and friendly. My 9 year old is trying to learn Bohemian Rhapsody on his viola for a talent show and Charles has been very helpful, guiding him through the music with positive reinforcement. We tried a couple other instructors but it wasn't the right fit. Super pleased we found Charles. Look forward to many more lessons to come."

"If I could write anything to hope that you choose Kristen to teach you, imagine it here: _______. That said. She is Amazing, Fantastic, Patient, Fun, Understand, did I say Patient!? I am a 28 year old man that is learning Viola as his "2nd" real instrument. I play piano well, and "campfire" guitar. Kristen is teaching me to read Alto clef and play the Viola. She is teaching at MY pace and not complaining when I come in without having the most practice time accomplished throughout the prior week. She has a flexible schedule and is available for communication (email and phone) between lessons (I've rescheduled many times because my work hours are not constant). She's Great! I hope you let her teach you! Thank you for reading."

I feel that I will be progressing quickly under Calvin's instruction. My first lesson flew by, and I learned so much in a very short amount of time. His attention to smaller details in technique are very helpful as well. I absolutely recommend Calvin as a viola instructor!"

"I first met Krizstina playing a gig. I made a technical inquiry and her advice and suggestion(s) made an immediate difference; the rest is history. Krisztina is not only very knowledgeable and sensitive in her teaching, but she knows how to relate concepts so that the student grasps and understands. Since my time with Krizstina, my playing has made notable changes, not only to me, but to others as well (according to them). Krizstina is always prepared, pleasant, professional and open to suggestions."
