I studied guitar all through high school intensely. I also kept working till now.

About Noel
Hello everyone and welcome!

My name is Noel B., and I am a musician living and working in New York City.

When teaching a new student I employ many different methods. To me, music is about playing with people. Its important to be able to play by yourself but there are things you just can't learn unless you play with people. I liken it to taking soccer lessons but never playing on a team. Also, its important to perform. All of my students are invited to perform at a venue with a grand piano that professional musicians in the city play. This really helps the students and I set goals, and achieve them. I also use some method books, theory and other things, but just making it about playing makes the lessons much much more fun and inspiring for the students.

I currently teach at two music schools apart from my Private studio. O
ne of which is in Long Island. At this school I teach electronic music production w/ Ableton as a digital audio workstation. I also teach DJ/Turntablism along side DJ 4our 5ive (he has worked with Notorious BIG, Jay z, and is the current tour DJ for Lil Wayne). We have also started working together on performing at the venue near the school.

I hope to inspire others to pursue a musical life. No matter how serious and long, or short and light.

One of my ultimate goals in teaching is to help my students develop the skills and knowledge to not only be able to play well, but to also be able to teach themselves (and hopefully others in the future). Thank you for your time! Have a great day!

Great lesson. Worked out a plan to accomplish my goals. Noel is amazing and multi-instrumentalist which helped to combine skills and a jam session into the lesson.

Simply put, Noel is a terrific teacher! I had the itch to pick up the guitar at 39 years old, and wanted to work with someone who had a laid back approach while still having the chops and the knowledge to offer some challenges. I was not disappointed!

Noel has an extremely diverse background in much that goes well beyond the guitar - He's an awesome drummer as well. This made the lessons even more interesting since he could offer perspective from the drummer's point of view, stressing how important rhythm is to becoming a solid guitarist.

On top of everything else, one of the things I like the most about taking lessons with Noel is that sitting down with him is like sitting in on a jam session - a pretty cool feeling for someone who's somewhat new to music, but has always wanted to learn.

Great Teacher

My teacher is amazing. A master professional in his musical field. He teaches like he's done it for decades, even though so young. I would dare to say he can teach with his eyes close. I love all his teaching techniques, from theory to scale, to practicing the Hanon Studies, to ear training and on. I like how he plays along with me while teaching me a new musical score. He completely dedicated to teaching his student and making sure his pupil is satisfied with his performance. He'll even help you with preparing you for an recital or musical event. He knows how. I highly recommend for teaching any pupil from age 3 to 92. He'll ask me what I want to do next, and then we look for scores that I can learn according to my level.. He's attention to your needs as a student and works around it. I always look forward to going to my next lesson and see how I improved and what's new score he's prepare for me to learn.

I have now received 9 months of training from Paul. I am amazed at how with his knowledge, help, patients and teachings I can say I play the piano and actually can play any easy piano arraignment. Being able to make this claim says a lot about Paul and his training. I am able to read the sheet music and no longer have to constantly look down at the keys. Paul has shown me so many different fingering options to achieve a much smoother transition of the position of my fingering. I know that no matter what issues I may come across during a piece that I can count on Paul to help me to figure out how to overcome the issue. Paul has so much to offer and I am like a little sponge.... Thank you Paul and I can’t wait to hit that one year mark of training and education from you.

About Eric
I'm the vocalist, lead guitarist & songwriter for a well-known touring rock band with a worldwide fan base and over 3 million You Tube views. I graduated from New York University with Bachelor's of Music in Jazz guitar and trained with the most highly respected rock/pop vocal coaches in the world. I'm currently teaching students of all skill levels (beginner to professional), locally, nationally and internationally. I am experienced, versatile, dedicated, and highly trained which helps to make lessons easy, stress, free and fun.

I play in 3 active bands (gigging regularly) & produce/cowrite with a number of artists for their own projects. I spent much of the past 15 years touring, writing and recording with my bands and with internationally known artists/celebrities. My songs have been licensed for national/international TV (E!, MTV,
VH1, Oxygen, TBS and more), commercials for CBS, Nike, Coca-Cola, Samsung and in video games. Recently, I contributed to the development of an iOS meditation/breathing app.

In 2015, I signed a major label publishing deal with Fieldhouse Music/BMG played throughout Europe (and taught online lessons while away). Since 2016, I have released 3 singles and 2 EPs, for my own projects. I am currently endorsed by PRS guitars, Elixir Strings, & Godin Guitars/Bass Guitars.

I teach my clients in my creative and comfortable home teaching studio in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. I work with Vocalists/Singers, guitarists/bassists, pianists & songwriters/producers/composers in a wide age range and of various skill levels. I help my students reach their goals!

I regularly teach these styles: Rock (Classic Rock, Indie Rock, Alternative Rock, Hard Rock), Metal, Punk, Pop, Jazz, R&B, Blues, Funk, Soul, Classical, Folk.

I'm highly experienced as an online (Skype, Facetime and G+) instructor, teaching online lessons worldwide for the past 4 years to students who reside locally, nationally and even internationally.

Lead and Rhythm Guitar:

I've developed a step-by-step approach to learning to solo and improvise.
Using simple, "guitarist-friendly” techniques you will quickly learn and begin to apply major/minor scales/modes, blues/pentatonic scales and “licks.” You will learn triads, arpeggios, interval studies, and extensions and how to use them to create interesting and melodic solos. With my line development/phrasing techniques, you will have your own library of “licks” that will help you navigate both simple and sophisticated harmonic progressions. I will help you to become a become a well-rounded, three-dimensional guitarist with a unique voice!

A few of techniques I teach:

∙ triads / arpeggios
∙ strumming
∙ alternate/sweep picking
∙ tremolo picking
∙ hybrid picking
∙ scales/modes
∙ slide guitar
∙ hammer on/pull off
∙ (up to 8 finger) tapping
∙ bending / double stops / unison bends
∙ whammy bar techniques
∙ diagonal scales,
∙ arpeggios & note groupings
∙ 3 and 4 finger per string scales
∙ fingerstyle
∙ Jazz scales, chords including
4 note open/closed voicing
7th, 9th, 11th, 13th chords
∙ chord melodies
∙ rhythm and grooves of various styles

Bass Guitar:

Right hand:
∙ finger style, pick
∙ slapping/popping
∙ groove, rhythms and playing time
∙ time signatures, walking bass lines,
∙ arpeggios, double stops,
∙ chords & improvising
∙ writing bass lines.

All of my students learn:

Sight reading (standard notation/tablature)
∙ music theory & ear training
∙ rhythm / timing (including reading rhythms)
∙ composition/songwriting

We will focus 1/2 of the lesson on repertoire and 1/2 the lesson on technique. Many of my students text/email me a few days prior to our scheduled lesson with a song selection for the week. I focus our lesson's technical study with the song in mind. It has proven to be very effective and makes the technique and theory are less "boring."

Studio Equipment
I have (7) guitars: including (4) electric, (2) acoustic/electric, & (3) electric bass
(2) tube guitar amplifiers, and various guitar effects pedals.

(1) full-size 88-key MIDI keyboard, (1) 61-key USB keyboard controller, and (1) Arturia MINILAB MIDI controller.

Also, I have an assortment of industry standard dynamic & condenser microphones for live performance and recording applications.

DAW recording software (Pro Tools 12.x, Logic 10.x, Ableton Live)
software synthesizers by Arturia, Fabfilter, Native Instruments, Spectrasonics, Steven Slate, Toontrack and more. I use plugin effects by Izotope, Fabfilter, Plugin Alliance and Universal Audio and Waves for many of my lessons and recording projects.

Travel Equipment
I can provide a guitar, videos, music recording, music workbooks and everything else a student may need. I prefer for students to print chord/fretboard & staff paper and bring to their lessons. Although I can do it if they can't. Students should just bring a list of songs they wish to learn to our lessons and a desire to learn

Specialties

I am a performer with a ton of touring/stage experience, a composer who understands the art of writing and a producer who is fluent in the latest recording technology. In addition to technical studies, my students receive performance coaching/career development. I will help you to find your unique voice, a polished and distinct sound, and your true personality as an artist. I am 100% committed to making you a success!

I will recharge your passion for music and making music.

I've been playing bass guitar for about 6 years, playing in a variety of styles and getting to know the instrument as a writing tool.

About Cory
Hello and welcome all! My name is Cory Jacobs, I'm a Brooklyn born guitarist, educator, and composer, and I'm thrilled that you are reading this, because that means you're interested in pursuing music. I have been teaching and performing for around ten years, and plan on teaching for the rest of my life. Since completing my Master's degree in guitar performance, I've decided that I'm going to use this instrument as a tool for communication, education, and entertainment, in every way that I can. I love sharing music with anyone and everyone, and being the guiding, positive force to help people pursue their goals and learn music, to whatever capacity they intend to.

There is no previous experience in music or guitar necessary to begin lessons. Most of my students began with only a guitar and a bit of enthusiasm, and that's all anyone ne
eds. We'll be doing a lot of learning, playing, listening, and hopefully a bit of laughing, if you enjoy awkward and sometimes bizarre humor.

*** Home Studio Equipment ***
Home Studio: guitar amp, bass amp, cables

*** Travel Equipment ***
I will come with my guitar, a metronome, and a cable if my student is studying electric guitar. My student should have a guitar, paper, a pencil, a metronome, and an amplifier (for electric guitarists & bassists.)

*** Lesson Details ***
I teach musical fundamentals and basic technique to all of beginner students, as well as discuss practice methodology, listening practice, and musical style. We will be delving into rudiments quite a bit, but using riffs, melodies, and applicable chord progressions to learn. Learning to read musical notation is not necessary for many musical goals, but we can pursue that route if desired, and it is highly encouraged for a comprehensive musical understanding.

For intermediate students will likely want or need to work on specific things, ie technique, learning specific songs, music theory, learning the ins and outs of specific genres, composition, improvisation. My specialties include pop, rock, metal, funk, jazz, and classical guitar.

I am very open to regular communication with my students to answer questions, share recommended listening or reading, and of course, be on top of scheduling and logistics. I try my best to make our time together a rewarding and fun experience, and to pass forward the great fortune of learning music.

When my 7-year-old son asked for guitar lesson's, my wife and I were at a loss. As we are not musically inclined at all. We found Jimmy from a friends recommendation and could not be happier. Our son, loves his lesson's with Jimmy, he is learning music theory , how to read music and how to make his guitar sing (for a 7-year-old, at least). Jimmy is very patient and attentive to the needs of such a small learner. We would highly recommend him to anyone looking to play.

I can take you down the route YOU want to go, whether that is trying to progress with music theory OR simply learning to play your favourite songs, I can help you.

I believe that a practical approach is the most effective way to learn music, we will play EVERYTHING we discuss right then and there, however everything I teach I will provide written handouts for you to take and work on at home.

ALL styles can be learnt, music IS easy! It's all about making the unfamiliar, FAMILIAR!

About Jack
Hello there. I'm a native of Manchester, England now living/working/teaching in Washington Heights, NYC. I am a professional working bassist who thrives on sharing my knowledge of my craft with others who wish to learn. I have been teaching bass for 10 years and playing for 15. I also teach guitar and piano.

I started teaching bass 10 years ago to fellow students (music/non music students) at South Cheshire College in the North West of England. When I began my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Jazz at Middlesex University (London), I continued to teach privately. I also have experience teaching ensembles. I taught a rhythmic awareness class for 6+ people over a summer at Middlesex University. When I moved to the US I resumed my private teaching classes. I have taught in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Nashville, Tennessee and New York, New York.

I have had gigging experience both on land and sea, having played in the showband on both NCL (Norwegian Cruise Lines) and CCL (Carnival Cruise Lines.) I have also played in some off Broadway productions and regularly continue to perform with various ensembles around the City and Tri-State area.

I have a strong grasp of music theory and specialize in Jazz. I believe ear development to be the most important skill in music as the ear is what we use to enjoy music after all! However I am a confident reader and will gladly help my students to develop their reading skills. I am proficient in a wide variety of styles such as Jazz, Funk, Latin, Reggae, Hip-Hop, Rock, Pop, Blues etc. So just about anything you'll want to learn, I'll be able to help you.

Being an active and experienced musician gives me the necessary knowledge to know what is needed on order to become a better musician. I really enjoy to transfer my knowledge and solve the unique musical problem that every student encounter during their musical path.

About Andrea
Bassist and composer Andrea Veneziani performs extensively within the improvised music scene, across a broad spectrum of genres. His instrumental tone, sensitivity and imagination, and melodic approach to a supposedly clumsy instrument brought him to perform and record with many established musicians. As a current faculty member of the New York Jazz Workshop, Andrea Veneziani is a dedicated educator. He has taught master classes at the National Institute of Music and the National University of Costa Rica, at the Boğaziçi University in Istanbul, Turkey and at the Olav Duun Videregående Skole in Namsos, Norway. Learn how to play bass and read music; also, develop your musical "inner ear" and understanding of music theory.

About Daniel
Hello! I am a saxophonist, jazz musician, woodwind player, and music educator. I have a degree in Jazz Performance from William Paterson University, where I studied with Mulgrew Miller, Harold Mabern, Vincent Herring, Rich Perry, Bill Mobley, and many more of New York/New Jersey's finest musicians. I have experience playing professionally in jazz ensembles (as both a sideman and leader), pit orchestras, and wedding/cover bands.

My teaching career began informally while I was in high school, showing friends the basics of what I knew at the time on different instruments. I would also give some lessons to family friends, usually the younger siblings who were just starting out in 5th or 6th grade band. After I graduated from college in 2016, I began teaching professionally at various music studios throughout the North Jersey area, and thr

His understanding to what me as the student want is amazing. He doesn't waste time and he keeps me going ahead, and the success is actually reflecting. He has the technique for every step of the way. I am amazed how much I already accomplished in such short time, Thanks to Trevor for teaching effectively. I look forward for every lesson.
