With my line development/phrasing techniques, you will have your own library of “licks” that will help you navigate both simple and sophisticated harmonic progressions. I will help you to become a become a well-rounded, three-dimensional guitarist with a unique voice!

All of my students learn:

Sight reading (standard notation/tablature)

We will focus 1/2 of the lesson on repertoire and 1/2 the lesson on technique. Many of my students text/email me a few days prior to our scheduled lesson with a song selection for the week. About Sarah
The New York Times praised Sarah for combining "thoughtful musicality with virtuosity in her alternately energetic and delicate account of a flute line laden with light multiphonics and unusual timbres." A leading performer of contemporary classical music, Sarah is a member of The Parhelion Trio, an all-female flute, clarinet, and piano ensemble known for their energetic and "effervescent" (The Strad) playing. She is also a frequent contributor to the New York Philharmonic's Very Young Composers Program, where she gives demonstrations on the capabilities of the flute.

Sarah believes in helping students set their own goals and markers of success. The knowledge passed down to her students consists of practical techniques for approaching the instrument, the embodiment of rhythm, and a natural approach to musicality. With these skills, stu
dents can gain confidence and contentment in their journey of studying a musical instrument. This holds true whether the student is a complete beginner, an enthusiast, or an advanced student aiming for a career in music.

Sarah is currently pursuing her doctorate in flute performance at The Graduate Center, CUNY. Her dissertation is an exploration of the narratives, techniques, and histories of flute masterclasses. In addition to private teaching, she is also a music professor at St. Joseph's College in Brooklyn. Sarah holds a master's degree in music performance from New York University where she studied with one of the great living innovators of the flute.

About Adam
I'm a seasoned guitarist with over 15 years playing and 9 years teaching experience. I have a Bachelor of Music from NYU, I am Manhattan based and have a multitude of both live and studio session work experience. My studio experience includes having worked with notable producers, doing sessions for a variety of musicians and doing music for advertisements. My performing background includes having played guitar for various rock groups throughout the country at famous venues including The Bowery Ballroom, Music Hall of Williamsburg, Gramercy Theater, 9:30 Club, Electric Factory, Orpheum Theatre Boston, The Roxy and festivals such as Lollapalooza, SXSW and CMJ. I've also written instructional articles for Premier Guitar magazine.

I'm a versatile player, comfortable teaching a wide variety of styles at all levels.

*** Lesson Deta
ils ***
I'm a laid back teacher with an easy going nature, but I do expect my students to put time into their practicing. I customize my curriculum based on your needs. If you are a complete beginner who really has a desire to learn the instrument, we will focus on technique, theory and improvisation as it applies to your favorite styles and songs.

For students who want to play more casually, we will focus on mastering techniques that will get you playing your favorite tunes while bypassing the theoretical aspects.

Intermediate/Advanced students are welcome to choose the areas they feel they need to improve, whether it's understanding how to apply modes to your soloing or developing a fluid sweeping technique.

My home studio has a spare guitar and amp for your convenience.

*** Studio Equipment ***
space with instruments seating for parents

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in Rock/Metal/Blues but can teach all genres comfortably.

My method is custom tailored to the student. If gaining a deep knowledge of the instrument is his/her goal I focus on technique, theory, and application through improvisation. If a student would rather learn their favorite songs I spend the majority of the time focusing on the techniques needed to perform the tune and pepper in a little theory where applicable.

Before taking lessons with Adam, I had no knowledge about playing guitar and fundamentals of music theory.

So,at the beginning, Adam patiently taught me music theory and the technique to play guitar. During the lessons, I have asked him basic questions about music theory time and again, and he patiently explained the concepts to me. Also, sometimes, I asked him to explain me the song composition (chord structure , melody , bass and etc) of some random songs, and he quickly broke it down in the class and showed me how the song is constructed.

One thing I like about the class structure is that Adam gives you the freedom to choose the lesson content. And, then he slowly nudges you on the right path. In terms of scheduling a lesson, Adam is very accommodating, and he accommodated my every request to change the schedule.

Another thing I would like to mention is Adam's depth of knowledge in terms of music history. Adam always explained me the music concepts by telling me how they got introduced into the music culture.

I will recommend Adam to anyone who wants to learn music.

I am picking up the guitar again after a long hiatus and Adam has been incredibly helpful. He's extremely knowledgeable and friendly, and his lessons have challenged me to learn the fundamentals I had been ignoring. At end of each lesson, I feel that I am developing a solid set of foundations to apply in my playing. I'd recommend Adam to anyone looking to learn the instrument from any backgrounds.

*** Lesson Details ***
What happens in a Lesson? In order to train your physical voice, it is necessary to do vocal exercises, in the same way that one needs to train at a gym. There is no "magic key" to unlock one's voice; it is a matter of daily practice and muscle strengthening/stretching. So, the first part of the lesson will be focused on vocal exercises specifically tailored to YOUR VOICE and its needs. The second half of the lesson is the fun part- SINGING! We will work on any songs and styles that YOU choose. Whether you want to sing Rock, Country, Pop, Musical Theater, or Classical, there is a healthy and communicative way to sing!

*** Travel Equipment ***
I provide a keyboard. The student should provide a recording device, iPhone, etc.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in Classical and Broadway style singing, but have extensive experience in Contemporary Commercial Music as well. I teach a healthy approach to all styles, and modify technical approaches towards the genre that the student is most interested in.

I've been playing guitar since I was 12 years old. I've been writing my own music since 2010. I'm a graduate of NYU's Tisch School of the arts and have been living in NYC for the past 12 years after college. I am skilled in teaching new students and encouraging a love of music. I currently work with the Rockasorri program which places music teachers in school around nyc, so I can work with children and adults! My lessons are all about mixing the "boring" part of music (scales, exercises, etc.) with the fun part, playing songs you love and learning how you can express yourself with an instrument.

About Jinglin
I'm a graduate from both the Mannes College for Music in Piano Performance, and Parsons School for Design for Fashion Design.

Other than the various awards I have won, I am the founder of a popular music & artistic organization in New York City, which aims to provide top young musicians and artists from top music schools, such as Juiliard, Manhattan and Mannes, to share ideas with each other and to inspire audiences to play / show something as well.

I myself as an active pianist, has performed all over the world -
Carnegie Hall in New York City, Palais Miller von Aichholz in Vienna, Concerts in Dresden and Berlin, International Academy of Music in Castelnuovo di Garfagnana in Italy, a Second Class Award from the 16th Hong Kong - Asian Piano Competition in China and so forth.

As a passionate artist, I do not limit my imaginat
ion and creativity as there are unlimited types of languages, formats of art, ways of self-expressions and no one speaks exactly the same to another. For instance, Schoenberg designed his playing cards in private and I went to Parsons and designed my fashion garments on the back of Mannes, eventually I got both my piano concert and my fashion show done together - they were soon exposed by editors from more than ten mainstream medias in China.

As a reliable piano educator, I would teach not only the piano playing techniques and music theory, but also encourages my students to explore their imaginations and self expressions. I am the teacher you should probably expect to bring you / your child to various piano concerts and competitions, but probably not to the level examinations. My goal in education is to inspire students to keep the classical music playing, to be a creative artist and a unique treasure in the world.

Teaching style: Strict, patient, effective and could be a little fun.
Topics: Basic Music Theory, Piano playing techniques and performing tips; Music analysis and "language translations”; a little about life.
