Teaching drums professionally since 1998, Aaron has influenced hundreds of budding musicians to get the most from their instrument. He has studied privately with Rob Laytham (Modern Drummer columnist), Joe Leroux (marching band guru), Gary Chaffe (legendary drummer) and many others throughout the years. He has taken the best techniques and teaching styles from his influences and molded them together to form what he considers to be the most effective and inspiring method available.
I teach drum set in nearly every style and hybrid imaginable, as well as percussion and drum circle facilitation.
Accomplishments include recording 7 albums with various groups, touring with national acts across the west coast, drumming for the Warner Brothers Television house band, and still actively playing live shows and recording.

ils *** I put my focus on inspiring students to explore their own creativity with the tools and techniques that I give to them and nurture. I think it is very important to cover the basic skills that the school districts expect from their music students (sight reading, proper technique, note recognition, rudiments, timing, feel, etc.). I also feel it is important for a student to find his or her style and an ability to use the fundamentals to create music that they enjoy. He has written a method book based on the fundamentals of playing a rhythmic instrument with an emphasis on allowing the student to find their niche and lead a group through a piece of music or tastefully support it.
My studios are fully equipped with sound systems, the latest recording gear, acoustic and electric sets, hand drums and dozens of other percussion instruments. I believe that the more resources a person can draw from, be it intellectual or physical, the more fulfilling the learning experience will be.
Each lesson, my students will take at least a page of music that represents the concept that they are focusing on, and a goal set to accomplish by the end of the week so that they can build upon what they already know in an effort to put the big picture together. Ultimately the student will learn when and how to utilize the concepts that they are practicing.
*** Studio Equipment *** A Yamaha electronic drum set in my Mesa Studio allows me to control volume and dial up any sound imaginable. I have full acoustic drum sets in other studios that I use for recording and private lessons. Often I will integrate guitar, keyboard, or other instruments in to the lessons if needed.
*** Travel Equipment *** Sticks, Practice Pad, tuning kit, binder and books with teaching supplements.
*** Specialties *** Music, Drums, Percussion, Theory, Composition, Piano and Guitar. Drummers should be well versed in all genres of music. Rock, Jazz, Latin, Swing, etc. Most of my students begin with concert and marching styles on a practice pad, then advance to the drum set. I teach note recognition and placement, rudiments, linear playing, moeller method, rhythm theory, sub-division of notes and time, and the sight-reading to support these techniques.
I have been playing drum kit and percussion for over ten years and teaching for about seven. I've played a little bit of everything - pop, rock, punk, hip-hop, ska/reggae, blues, jazz, and even musical theater. In addition to drum kit, I can play and teach hand drums (djembe and conga) in contemporary or traditional African, Latin, American styles. I'm happy to share my skills and expertise with drummers of all ages and skill levels.
I studied music at UCF (Orlando), focusing on classical and jazz guitar, but I also have years of experience playing rock, blues, folk, hip-hop, and musical theater on both guitar and drums.
I have been teaching guitar, drums, and piano for about eight years to students of all ages. Music is what I'm passionate about and it's what I enjoy. I want to inspire that same passion into the hearts and minds of others.
*** Lesson Details *** I am a laid-back teacher, fun, and I focus on the needs, abilities, and ambitions of the student. In turn, students must realize that learning an instrument takes a lot of work and dedication. One can't expect to learn very much if s/he only practices or thinks about the instrument during the lesson. If the student is willing to put some time into practicing, then I will help them go far!

My name is Ray, I'm 31 years old, and was born in Queens, NY. I studied classical music for many years as a youngster at the Aaron Copeland School of Music college preparatory program. During this program I was introduced to Jazz, and around the same time began experimenting with synthesizers. I went on to study Electronic Production & Design at Berklee College of Music in Boston, and quickly became a very sought after studio musician and performer.
I've been successfully teaching many instruments and proficiency levels for approximately 16 years now, and can say with pride that teaching is my passion, and I anticipate it remaining a very important part of my life.
I enjoy reading nonfiction books on science, math, and philosophy.
*** Lesson Details *** My music lessons are unique for three main reasons:

ave a very deep understanding of music, sound, and theory, and feel music to be one of my native languages.

*** Equipment *** Students must have their own instrument, and purchase their own materials (books, etc). From time to time I make my way to a local music shop, and am happy to purchase materials for reimbursement.
*** Specialties *** Classical music is my background, and what I believe to be the most cognitively and emotionally fulfilling style of music to listen to, study, and play. That said, I'm also a big fan of pop music (as well as other genres), and encourage students to enjoy, for example, learning their favorite songs from the radio.
My understanding of music theory is extremely thorough, and I'm happy to incorporate as much or as little of it as the student's interest dictates, nevertheless maintaining the minimal amount of theory necessary to get the most out of learning music and the instrument.

My son and daughter both take from Ray and they love him!!! My daughter started with him after she had had 2 other teachers and she improved immediately. She loves going to Ray because he teaches her to play the songs that she likes. Now she plays so many songs for memory!! My son loves going to piano and is always excited to see Ray.
With a degree in drum/percussion performance, Andrew specializes in djembe, congas, Latin percussion, snare, and various auxiliary percussion.

Andrew is a graduate of Musicians Institute College of Contemporary Music in Hollywood, California with a degree in drum/percussion performance.
Andrew spends his time teaching drums, recording drums and playing drums for local artists/bands. While in Los Angeles he performed with many independent artists and also had the privilege to work with some well know artists, such as Scott Shriner of Weezer, Nikki Sixx of Mötley Crüe, and The Blue Man Group.
In 2005, Andrew was hired as the drum instructor at Los Angeles City College. Since then, he has authored three different drum books and has taught music at Southern California Music Scho

I want to find out who their favorite bands/drummers are, what their lesson goals are and most importantly, how they learn best. I can adapt my teaching approach to suit each individual student. I worked with Andrew for over 2 years learning the drums. Fabulous teacher! Andrew taught me technique, timing, different genres of drumming but most importantly inspired me to keep stretching in my playing. His love of music shines through his teaching.
My approach to teaching has a very heavy emphasis on implementing the idea of mindfulness into the students life. I have found that this is not only the quickest way to learn, but also the most motivating way to learn any skill for both my students and myself. A simple awareness of the finite details that go into a craft, while at the same time acting upon them in way that is loose and detached has helped me learn an array of new skills and has profoundly changed my life as well as others for the better.
Very knowledgeable. I liked being educated or informed about the process of my son's lesson before and after.

After 30 years I finally decided to learn how to play drums. Kevin clearly knows what he's doing in any genre of drumming! It seemed like every lesson he had a clear/thorough plan, didn't stress me out by teaching to rapidly, or bore me by going to slowly. A very solid teacher.

Been trying to get my middle-schooler to practice for a few years now. It's like pulling teeth.
Kevin has somehow broken through to him. Fun lessons. Incredibly useful homework. Couldn't recommend him more.
I teach children, adolescents , and adults. I have also worked with special needs populations for many years in a variety of settings. I am very patient adept and compassionate. I am also very skilled at my instrument as I studied music at the University Level. My goals are to combine my experience teaching special education with my experience studying and teaching music performance. I am very enthusiastic about teaching students at advanced levels as well. I teach piano and drumset. I teach various styles of music and hope to engender my students' love for music and the arts. I consider myself a mentor, a Music Therapist, and an educator.
David explains things in a manner that I could easily understand. He was calm, patient, and respectful of skill level.

David is a very skilled drummer and a very enthusiastic teacher. In lessons, he seems to like to split time between practicing rudiments and learning to play different rhythms on the set. He is also exceptionally patient and supportive with my 9-year-old, highly distractible daughter. David is very positive, pointing out things that are going well and interesting rhythms that they discover. I am really glad we found David--he is an excellent teacher and I love watching my daughter learn so much about music!

My process is based on (but does not adhere strictly to
