I am extremely patient and understanding. I will work with you to achieve your musical goals, from mastering a Beethoven Sonata, learning music theory, composing, to playing pop songs.

I am a professional pianist with a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the Juilliard School, and currently working on my Doctoral of Musical Arts at Manhattan School of Music. I have worked with several world-renowned pianists including Robert McDonald, Horacio Gutierrez, and Haesun Paik. Their influence not only helped me develop as a pianist but also taught me how to teach and showed me the impact of truly masterful teacher can have on their students.

I serve as a piano faculty member at Bronx Conservatory of Music and Lindeblad School of Music, in addition to teaching private students. I have taught students at varying levels of experience and from varying backgrounds, ranging from 4-year-old to adult. Some of them had their very first piano lesson with me and others are promising concert pianists at Juilliard pre-college.

I teach children of various ages to grow musically and have a sense of satisfaction and fulfillment. Based on various experiences, I would like to introduce the resources that student need.

Experienced musician with 3 years of teaching experience to a wide range of ages. I am encouraging with a focus on emotional release through music. I don't want to force someone to care about piano. I want to teach them how it can be used as a form of self expression, and how to make that beautiful. However, I am firm about the importance of practice.

Strong instrumental playing begins with a solid understanding of the fundamentals of music and the simple act of making a sound from the instrument. Students learn to play music by ear first, and are later introduced to music notation. More advanced lessons emphasize sight-reading, expression, and improvisation.

Thomas has studied piano for 15 years, and continues to play regularly. His education has included courses specifically on musical instruction methodologies, and he has been trained as a pianist at the collegiate level.

I am a current Juilliard undergraduate with experience formally teaching beginner- intermediate level students. I welcome students of all levels who are interested in advancing their knowledge and ability to become pianistically proficient. For all my students, I emphasize the importance of practicing efficiently while developing critical listening skills. Although practicing might usually seem laborious, I strive to help students seek the enjoyment out of the music that they want to play.
