I have played and taught music professionally for the last 8 years. I have a diverse background as a musician, playing multiple instruments (drums, guitar, bass, and piano), composing, arranging and producing. Lessons are personalized and accommodated for the student's personal needs/goals. My lessons consist of technique, music theory, sight-reading, and most importantly learning songs/music that you want to learn. In addition to teaching you all the basics of guitar, I try to incorporate time in each lesson where we are both jamming with each other. Since I play multiple instruments, I love being able to jam with students, so that they are able to learn how to make music with other musicians. ALL AGES WELCOMED!

Students can expect to learn rhythm and lead (solo) guitar in the Blues style, which is the basis for Rock and Blues Rock guitar. I will also show you how these skills can can be applied to other popular genres. Learn how to play the fundamental blues rhythm based on the "I, IV, V" progression and the pentatonic scales to play melodies, lead lines, and solos/improvisation. Lead technique will include slides, hammer-ons and pull-offs, note bends, and vibrato. My approach emphasizes the use of ear training and transcribing by listening to classic songs by the "the masters," the most notable Blues players like BB King, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jimi Hendrix, etc.

Adam is a wonderful guitar instructor. He is very knowledgable and he is always calm, patient and very encouraging. He taught me a lot of ways to practice and enjoy music. Thank you Adam! I would highly recommend!

I took acoustic guitar lessons with Adam and he was a wonderful teacher. I had little knowledge of the guitar and felt I developed my skills quickly. Adam was patient, nice and came up with fun exercises and song selections. Would highly recommend Adam as a teacher!

Adam’s superpowers as a guitar teacher are commitment and a calm demeanor. It was clear from my first lesson that Adam was singularly dedicated to my advancement even at times when my dedication wavered. I was able to successfully learn a Death Can for Cutie song that I had loved for years (I will follow you into the dark). Though i had taken lessons in the past, i felt i had the most chemistry with Adam’s thoughtful approach to teaching guitar. Our lessons were fun and laced with lighthearted humor. I moved to NYC and Adam was 100% committed to ensuring our lessons continued via Skype. Unfortunately the move was a big life change that refocused my priorities. I wish that Adam lived in NY so we could continue playing together!

Basic out line of blues guitar approach touching on the I IV V progression and pentatonic scales to play lead lines, solos and melodies. Heavy investigation of note bending, breathing and space. Learning to let the notes "breath" and speak is key to good blues.

Ryan is professional and easy going at the same time. So far so good. I'm excited to keep going.

Ryan takes his time and tailors my lessons specifically to my level and to the type of music I’d like to play. He covers everything from the basics – like the proper way to hold the pick – to more advanced teachings like music theory. Ryan is flexible, patient, easy going, and he consistently teaches at a pace that I’m comfortable with. He provides take-home practice after every lesson and always has helpful suggestions any time I have questions. What I find incredibly helpful is that at the end of the lesson Ryan will run through the take-home practice on his guitar and let me record it on my phone so it’s easier for me to remember. When I’m ready to practice the next day I just pull up his notes and the video and I’m ready to go!

It’s obvious that Ryan has a passion for music, and it shows in his lessons. I would easily give him my highest recommendation.

Adam is a great teacher and has a passion for music. He's super friendly and patient. He works well with beginners, creating lessons tailored to your individual goals, and can even work with intermediate level musicians who want to spruce up their sound. I 100% recommend him.

WOW! Adam got me flying on my cherrywood acoustic in no time. He knows so much about different playing styles, and helped me get my sound to where I could make great cover YouTube videos! I owe it all to Adam! He’s got great stories too!
Julian
For years I’d try to pick up my acoustic (it was a gift from my uncle) and toy around with it, even trying lessons on YouTube, but couldn’t get anywhere. After my first 3 sessions with Adam, I immediately knew I’d have the tools to take off on my own if I wanted to. 6 months later I’m playing gigs at local bars! This guy knows his guitars! Super fun and chill personality too!

I have many years of experience teaching guitar lessons but also many years of experience in the classroom as a music educator. I have studied many different approaches to teaching music, from Feierabend to Kodaly to Suzuki, and apply them to my style of teaching. I have written and recorded quite a bit of original material and I also have experience performing in classic rock and folk cover bands. I have a broad base of musical knowledge that includes but is not limited to traditional baroque counterpoint, T-Bone Walker and Stevie Ray Vaughan blues licks, arranging for horn sections, and writing acoustic pop songs. And I UNDERSTAND how to work with young children (5-10yrs) as well as teens and adults.

"Ryan has definitely opened up my perspective with regard to learning my instrument and "hearing" tonal options for music I like to play. I'm a working Dad with very limited time for lessons and practice, so an online learning platform has worked best for me. Ryan has been very accommodating and flexible. More than that, he's been extremely patient with my learning style. In addition to opening up my instrument for me, he's fostered a passion for learning guitar and a taste for new music that I may not have listened to/learned otherwise. I love music and because of Ryan, I've found a very heartfelt, almost tangible, passion for playing it. Ryan...thank you!!"

He is one of those rare teachers who is not only knowledgeable, but also able to share the knowledge with his students in a comfortable and relaxing manner. I have always been afraid of the guitar but the man has cured my guitar phobia. He has made learning the guitar approachable and fun!!"

He is personable, professional, and most of all, an excellent teacher."
