Mrs. Jen has been a violin teacher for our daughter for 3.5 years. She is an extremely qualified and talented musician who deeply cares about her students and is committed to teaching. She is kind and patient, but also effective and motivating. When our 8 year old daughter learned Mrs. Jen was moving she said, "I probably will never have as neat or special of a violin teacher as Mrs. Jen"- and she's right!

First lesson was fine. We took a few minutes to find each other in a cafe setting but as it was also a meet and greet session I wasn't too concerned about time. As it turns out Beth more than made up the time. She's very pleasant and easy to speak with. We went over my goals, simple traveler type words, phrases and questions, and a work schedule to cover the next several weeks. Beth told me how she was going to approach teaching me after listening to my goals. I'm looking forward to the next session where we can focus on learning the language.

I have been teaching math for 6 years. Every student presented to me has different needs. As we go through some of the student's work, I notice what he/she needs to work on, and then we put emphasis on that. My goal is to help my students understand thoroughly the material in order build a strong foundation for further expansion on the subject.

About Hissael
I have been teaching and tutoring students for 6 years now. I teach math and guitar. The thing I love most about my teaching isn't the end result of a student's passing report card or a student's accomplishment of learning a difficult musical piece. It is the effort that takes place between the student and the tasks, along with guidance. The student's ability to think and approach the tasks, whether it is music, math, or English in a way that fully immerses the student's creativity and understanding is at the foundation of my teaching. I can help your child pass his/her tests, I can help them read music and play their favorite songs, but, I encourage them to overcome the challenges that they face when they are on their own in the classroom and practice room. And that is what I have to offer.

I have a doctoral degree and 30 years of teaching experience in mathematics at public and private colleges. I have also done much one-on-one tutoring and curriculum planning. I am now retired.

I can help you learn arithmetic, algebra, finite math, trigonometry, or any other area of mathematics from primary or secondary school, or beginning college math. I have heard my students say things like "This is the first time I ever understood math!"

First of all, you have to believe that you are capable of doing mathematics. You may have heard well-meaning friends or parents say "You don't have a math brain" or "You are not a math person". These are counterproductive thoughts. In fact, anyone can learn mathematics. If you adopt a positive attitude and make good use of your study time, you can make great strides!

Hello Potential Students!

I've always believed that even the most complicated mathematical concepts can be broken down into simple, straightforward, and logical steps that anyone can understand. I'm here to show you that path forward. It's time to stop being afraid! I will help you face your math fears, fill the gaps in your knowledge, and get you back on track.

I have been tutoring math and physics for a number of years now. I have a degree in astrophysics and currently work as a patent attorney where I detail complicated new technologies for the public on a day-to-day basis.

Outside of work, I have a passion for helping kids tackle difficult subjects and raising potential in the classroom. I'll make sure you have the foundational knowledge to tackle difficult homework problems, and prepare for tests as they come around. Like everything, math is a skill that is developed with practice. I'll make sure that you have the tools to practice the right way.

About Joshua
Hello Potential Students!

I pride myself in being able to break down difficult skills into basic steps that anyone can master. The hard part is knowing how to break down those skills, but you can leave that part to me!

I've taught music and piano for a number of years, and also tutor students in difficult high school subjects such as match and physics. I have a degree in astrophysics from the University of Maryland, and now work as a patent attorney where I work to break down and detail difficult cutting-edge technologies for the public.

Outside of work, I really enjoy making and teaching music as well to people of all ages. I've specialized in jazz piano, but also really enjoy playing modern pop/rock. Students I teach piano to learn how to not just play their favorite songs, but also how to break them down and understand h
ow they were put together. This enables students to learn how to learn, and if they dare, to start making music of their own.

See you in the classroom!

I took lessons from Joshua for three months while my normal piano teacher was on vacation for the summer. In those months, my skills improved tremendously, leaving my teacher in awe of how much I improved during his hiatus. Josh worked with me on developing my technical skills and knowledge of music theory and was incredibly successful in helping me build on my previous skills. Joshua was understanding and patient as a teacher, helping me as I struggled through challenging pieces and encouraging me to continue practicing and not give up. Overall, Josh was a great teacher and I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a piano teacher!

During high school, I was given the title "Teacher Brie" because of the energetic and cheesy way I taught the information.

Much of my tutoring experience stems from helping my classmates understand information. When taking AP Calculus, my teacher left for half the year on maternity leave. With the lack of an actual math substitute teacher, I essentially taught the class and lead myself, and my classmates, to all A's and B's.

After graduating, I began officially tutoring younger students in pre-algebra, algebra, trigonometry, pre-calculus and calculus. I am currently working with a high school student on Algebra 2 and an elementary school student.

As a math major, I am very passionate about numbers and get a lot of enjoyment out of watching students' confusion turn into understanding and confidence. During my tutoring sessions, I make sure we are getting as much done as possible, but I keep it light-hearted and fun. I am a huge believer in the importance of explaining problems in multiple different ways so that the student can choose which way makes the most sense to them. My sessions also focus on confidence-building: one of the main problems I come across is that students have a perception that they are bad at math, making it harder for them to succeed.
