Mr Yakov is very pleasant, patient and professional. He makes learning fun. One of my daughters is very shy and particular. I was concerned for her first violin. But she ended up loving the lesson and the instructor. We did some lessons online and at his studio. During the online lesson, the connection with our internet was horrible. He could hear her playing but she couldn't hear him. Yet, patiently, he got creative and taught the lesson with my daughter through chat. The environment of the studio is comfortable. You can tell he's passionate about what he does. That left me with a great impression of him. We look forward to more lessons with him for as long as we can.
Thanks Mr Yakov!!!
I currently teach trumpet at the New School for Leadership and the Arts, but I have many years' experience teaching music to students of all ages. I teach to the abilities, passions, and ambitions of the student(s).
I studied music at UCF (Orlando), focusing on classical and jazz guitar, but I also have years of experience playing rock, blues, folk, hip-hop, and musical theater on both guitar and drums.
I have been teaching guitar, drums, and piano for about eight years to students of all ages. Music is what I'm passionate about and it's what I enjoy. I want to inspire that same passion into the hearts and minds of others.
*** Lesson Details *** I am a laid-back teacher, fun, and I focus on the needs, abilities, and ambitions of the student. In turn, students must realize that learning an instrument takes a lot of work and dedication. One can't expect to learn very much if s/he only practices or thinks about the instrument during the lesson. If the student is willing to put some time into practicing, then I will help them go far!
o Equipment *** I have several guitars, a drum kit, djembe, mandolin, clarinet and full-size keyboard.
*** Specialties *** Guitar: Classical, jazz, American or Irish folk, rock and pop; lead or rhythm. Drums & Percussion: All genres Piano: Classical (includes sight reading)
I've been teaching trumpet for 20 years and my students have gone on to the State level Band Auditions and won multiple times. I specialize in classical, jazz and klezmer style, typically use best published books, and have the renovated, quiet and spacious studio, music stands, audio equipment. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you!

Meet the Business Owner
Business Owner Dimitry Chernavsky is the Principal Clarinetist of the Livingston Symphony Orchestra, the Co-Principal of the Hanover Wind Symphony, and a member of the 'A La Mode' clarinet quartet.
Dimitry is a graduate of Kiev Tchaikovsky Conservatory, where he received a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Music Performance and Education.
Our 12-year old son has been learning clarinet from Mr. Dimitry for about a year now and we highly recommend him to prospective students for his deep music knowledge, rich clarinet performance experience and above all, just being a great clarinet teacher.
In a year's time with Mr. Dimitry, our son's progress has been very impressive. After our son started lessons with Mr. Dimitry, it quickly became apparent that Mr. Dimitry is a very experienced teacher for young musicians. He engages our son effectively to keep him interested in music and clarinet while at the same time sets high expectations for him. Our son always looks forward to clarinet lessons and also is motivated to practice pieces at home.
Mr. Dimitry not only teaches sound clarinet skills, but also emphasizes the importance of playing music the right way, that is to tell stories and express feelings through music rather than to play music like a technician. Although it is difficult for a young musician to fully appreciate this concept, it does go a long way in preparing him to become a really good musician in the long run.
Mr. Dimitry is very polite, pleasant and professional. We recommend him without any reservation.

My 7 year old son has been taking recorder lessons from Dimitry for almost 1 year now. Dimitry is very patient, encouraging, and enganging - considering that my son is on the younger side. Dimitry provides music instruction that is appropriate age and level wise, so my son feels accomplished and challenged at the same time.
We plan to continue with Dimitry and hopefully advance to the clarinet once his fingers can cover the clarinet holes and he has learned more music theory. My son looks forward to his music lessons. We are very pleased with his musical instruction.

Incredibly amiable, professional, and talented as a teacher.
As a senior in high school now graduating and transferring into college, I started my lessons with Dimitry in December last year and had to end this summer at the end of the music school's program. Even though my time learning the saxophone was short, Dimitry used my past musical experience to help guide me through the instrument. His lessons did not feel long in any sense of the word, and in fact some two-hour lessons I took to make up missed weeks blew by, as I was constantly engaged by his teachings. During my studies with him I found myself in the presence of a true musician, and this was only further driven home when I saw him play in the Hanover Wind Symphony at the Morristown Community Theater with Stanley Drucker. I would highly recommend Dimitry as an instructor for a student at any level.
As a trumpet player, I feel confident instructing beginners and advanced students on this instrument. I tailor my lessons to students individual needs, using many different respected trumpet methods to meet the challenges of the individual players.

Hired Kristen to help our son Eliot who was played French horn but was really interested in doing drum corps. I have to say, my husband and I eavesdropped on their lessons and Kristen really is a very patient and encouraging teacher. Our son was really happy and even I could tell he improved during his time studying with her. Would highly recommend.

Kristen was my horn tutor during my year of study abroad. I arrived in the country with one goal, to march in a drum and bugle corps for my age out year. It would be an understatement to say she really helped me make the most of my musical experience in the country.
I was really impressed. Kristen draws on the richness of her own performing experiences and she has a natural talent for teaching. I always left her lessons with fresh energy, a new challenge and just enough technical and musical direction to be pushing beyond my comfort zones as a musician.
I don't want to hammer the zero-to-hero story, but with Kristen's help I went from no marching experience, to marching on mellophone in a world class drum and bugle corps that summer. It was the most amazing year of musical development, both outdoors and in a solo and concert ensemble settings, and I owe a large part of that to Kristen for her supportive approach, flexibility and, of course, her expertise.
I should add, she's really relatable and I had great fun during lessons. 10/10 would take lessons again if I were in the right country!

Had my first lesson with Jerry and though we had some technology issues I truly enjoyed his teaching and thoroughness of instruction. I wanted a professional trumpet player and experienced teacher and Jerry is really meeting my expectations. I’m truly looking forward to working with him each week. Also, his follow up after the lesson was outstanding.

Great first lesson. Told me things I forgot about. I'm sure he can get me to the next level.
Online Special ! 15 minutes extra time for students who book online at no extra cost. //clinician, professional trumpet player & maker// Over the past 26 years I developed my own technique and teaching methodology how to play brass instruments the most efficient way.
The lip is the sound source which creates a standing airwave within the instrument and the trumpet functions as a filter and amplifier.
I also developed a special tongue technique which requires less movement when phrasing notes ( single, double and triple tongue) and therefore is faster, requires less effort, is very versatile, usable in any style of music and is much more accurate in hitting the notes.
If you understand these two aspects and are able to implement them you perform better with practicing less.
I cover all aspects of trumpet playing ( technique, breathing, posture, embochoure, equipment, phrasing, sight reading, improvisation, high range, endurance, sound quality, repertoire etc.).
Franz, trumpeter, clinician, composer, and brass instrument maker is the founder and artistic director of the internationally renowned Outreach Music Festival and Academy and leads his own group, Franz's IDO Quartet. His feed-forward approach, building on traditions, and looking beyond the fashionable trend leads to his distinctive style.
Franz is constantly evolving as an artist, producer & teacher searching for new ways to collaboratively expanding the musical language. Franz was born in Tyrol, Austria. Growing up with traditional Austrian brass music as a soloist, he soon became interested in jazz. She is an alumnus of the Conservatory of the City of Vienna and received an M.S. degree from the Manhattan School of Music, where he studied with Lew Soloff.
As a composer, his stylistic versatility grew to include works for full o
rchestra, chamber groups, choral works, and multimedia events. He received commissioned works from many prestigious venues and institutions. His works were premiered at places like the 'Theater an der Wien,' U.N. Headquarters NYC ( Year Of the Mountains Launch Event), Red Bull Hangar 7, European Forum Alpbach, Austrian Cultural Forum NYC & Washington, Lincoln Plaza, etc.
As a bandleader he performed at the Jazz Standard, Dizzy's Coca-Cola Club Lincoln Center, Porgy & Bess, Brucknerhaus Linz and many Jazz Festivals (Vienna Jazz Festival, Espoo Jazz Festival, etc.) Franz is co-leading a brass trio with the legends Dave Taylor (bass trombone ) and John Clark ( french horn). He also has duos with percussion super star Mino Cinelu and pianist Michael Wolff.
Franz also works often with leading classical artists like Dietmar Küblböck ( principal Trombone Vienna Philharmonic) and Gerhard Fluch ( principal trumpet Bruckner Orchester Linz). Franz taught at many workshops ( Jazzmarathon Mattighofen, Jazzworkshop Pulawy/Poland, SUNY Purchase, Friedberg Jazz Cocktail, etc.) and is regularly hired for masterclasses ( University of Music and Theater Leipzig, Music University Tunis, Musikschule Wiener Neustadt, brass bands, masterclasses at music exhibitions, etc.)
In partnership with his father, Franz sen., who is a famous trumpet virtuoso in Austria and started his career in the mid-'50s, Franz jun. is also handcrafting innovative horns & accessories (Hybrass, DeeflexxBrass). The family business was established in 1965.
Franz is a deeply knowledgeable instructor who truly cares about sharing his expertise. Plus his easy-going demeanor makes him a great mentor, can't recommend him enough!

As a teacher he is able to take the student from their level of playing and introduce them to new concepts on the instrument, thus raising their musicianship to much higher levels.
"Colin has helped Christian improve greatly in a short amount of time. Beginner trumpet- he had pressure problems and embouchure adjustments to make. His
notes were too low when playing per his band teacher, so I found Colin to help. So glad we did, would highly recommend him."
"first meeting great!"
"I think we're off to a strong start. Dustin focused right in on exactly the kind of guidance and feedback that is needed. I think he is going to be a real
ly effective teacher for my son."
"Mark is an excellent music instructor who works so well with kids. His knowledge, expertise and instruction, not to mention his dry sense of humor, always
had us looking forward to the next lesson. He's an awesome instructor, as well as human being and we would recommend him to anyone looking to improve their playing ability."
"My jazz instructor in High School led me to Bobby three years ago. He taught me a lot of things about playing the trumpet and greatly increased my ability
as a trumpet player. He is very, and inspired me to want to get better at playing through encouragement and his high quality playing. Every lesson is very personal and fun. I know that sounds cheesy, but I looked forward to every lesson I had with Bobby. Bobby is a very skilled player, and unlike many great players, he can teach just as well as he can play. Bobby and I also spent a lot of time talking about Jazz theory. I am now fairly knowledgeable about theory, one of the best in my school, and I learned it all from Bobby. If you take lessons with Bobby your trumpet skills will vastly improve, and if you want to learn jazz, Bobby teaches jazz theory as well as he teaches trumpet, if not better. The last thing I have to say is something that Bobby told me at our very first lesson, "we will both learn from each other, you will learn trumpet and jazz skills, and I will learn how to effectively teach you." Every lesson with Bobby is extremely personal, and he is constantly improving his already great teaching skills."
"After just one lesson, my son was even more interested in playing his trumpet. He went home and practiced everything David taught him. David gave him some
tips on making the sounds flow more naturally."
"Peter is very nice and my son really enjoyed his lesson. I really am glad we got Peter as his teacher!"
"With Mr. Hackl, you get not only world-class training and experience, but also access to the best equipment and technological skill!"
"Carlos provided a lot of good feedback. The lesson went very well. We are thrilled to have him teach our son how to play the 🎺 trumpet."
Whether you play trumpet, trombone, French horn, or any other brass instrument, there are several key factors to improving. Development of tone, technical facility and embouchure are important components. All of these areas will improve if you develop endurance.
The Mechanics of Developing Endurance
Developing endurance is nothing more than developing the ability to play your instrument while maintaining proper technique for an extended period of time. As many beginners know, practicing …
