I have performance arts training and experience and have a liberal arts degree from Columbia University/Master of Fine Arts Education from City College of NY. I perform as a Jazz Vocalist at various night spots, concert halls, and social events. As a Voice Coach, I have the good fortune to share my vocal skills while working with this organization. Singing is the joy I share as a performer and as a teacher. Anyone can sing, and do it on a superior level. It takes desire and the willingness to practice the skills necessary until the goal is achieved.

My voice students have performed on and off Broadway, been nominated for NJ Paper Mill Playhouse's Rising Star Awards, have been accepted to pre-college musical theater programs on full scholarship, have earned multiple leading roles in high school musicals and plays, have performed major choral works at Carnegie Hall, have sung in church choirs and for weddings, and have released their own pop/rock albums.
I look forward to the pleasure of meeting and working with you!

I thoroughly enjoyed working with him and look forward to the opportunity to be under his leadership once again. Because of Mr. J, I have decided to seek additional acting training for my own career.

The teacher was able to discern my exact needs, and then focus on those, and create in-the-moment scenes to energize my abilities as well as stimulate my own ideas in the directions necessary for my development.

Although Kyla is very nice and I could see her being a good acting teacher there were a-lot of issues. Late almost every-time and often seemed frazzled or caught off guard for my lesson. She was helpful with her acting technics for the first couple of lessons once we got into it, but then I took a week off for a vacation. She bumped the prices double the cost and did not inform me as a student. When I came back and was ready to purchase my next set, that we had already discussed a date and time, I noticed the price increase and questioned her. It was difficult for me to understand why she did not inform her current students of a price increase (and a big one at that). I was very clear with her in pervious lessons where I stood financially and that this was an investment already. Although she isn't an "expensive" teacher being a college student made this transition difficult. I was able to look past some of the other issues but the miscommunication between students was a NO WAY for me. Unfortunately, although she has potential as a good teacher she did not handle my lessons professionally.

Method acting requires you to fully embrace your transformation into your character. To create an authentic experience for your audience, you need to lose the speech inflections, facial expressions, and physical mannerisms that wouldn't make sense. For example, when an actor plays a depressed man, his cynical speech won't be convincing if he delivers it with perfect, confident posture.
