I studied music and piano at the University of Central Florida. My main focus there was classical and jazz guitar, but I also had to demonstrate my proficiency in piano. I've been playing and teaching piano for six years since then. I've worked with young children, teenagers, and even adults, so I'm happy to work with new students, novice to intermediate, of any age.
Lessons are built on a foundation of reading music notation and basic harmonic theory. We learn everything from from Bach to Beethoven and beyond! I'm happy to recommend books for beginners, depending on the age and skill level of the student.
I have been teaching guitar, drums, and piano for about eight years to students of all ages. Music is what I'm passionate about and it's what I enjoy. I want to inspire that same passion into the hearts and minds of others.

I am a laid-back teacher, fun, and I focus on the needs, abilities, and ambitions of the student. In turn, students must realize that learning an instrument takes a lot of work and dedication. One can't expect to learn very much if s/he only practices or thinks about the instrument during the lesson. If the student is willing to put some time into practicing, then I will help them go far!

My youngest student is 3.5 years old. That said, I also teach adults - sometimes parents take lessons with their kid! Believe me when I say it's very fun and productive when both parent and child knows what needs to be practiced. I usually balance out lessons with not just famous classical pieces, but also with your favorite pop tunes! Every student is different, so I adjust my lessons and provide customized material accordingly.
You will learn technical skills such as scales and arpeggios in fun ways as I incorporate them into songs they want to learn! You will also learn about putting your emotions and interpretation into the music. Music theory is a must for students in order to understand how to read notes. I'll even incorporate some songwriting or composition to develop creativity and originality!
I believe EVERYONE should have the opportunity to learn music, especially children, in a fun and enjoyable way! As someone who grew up around music (my mother is a music teacher!) I wish to give that chance to others.
I started playing the piano at around the age of four, and helped out as a substitute teacher at my mother's music school back in Singapore while in High School. I left shortly after to pursue music at Berklee College of Music, where I graduated summa cum laude in August 2013 with a Bachelor's of Music in Piano Performance and Contemporary Writing and Production!

I've been playing the piano since I was six, and I've been teaching for over ten years. I tailor my curriculum to fit your interests and abilities. I'm a Brazilian musician around 35 years old, MASTER in Piano Performance, Professor at a University in Brazil and in the US, also Bachelor in Singing and Composition. I love interacting with classes of piano and Jazz singing, for kids and adults. I have a big repertoire of classical music, pop, musical theater and all the Brazilian songs. Professor Cândida L. B. is an inspiring world class musician, classically trained and rooted in Brazilian culture. Her artistic work mixes folkloric music, bossa nova, pop, latin and african music, jazz, and all styles of world music. After 15 years teaching in a University in Brazil and in the United States, now she also created a program in which she offers her experience as a music educator for all ages music students and from all over the world. You can connect by Skype or you can also choose to use FaceTime or Google Hangout. There are easy instructions that you receive to make sure you are all set to start. You have the chance to record your class and you will receive a link to all the material we use in class. In tour or local, classes must go on!

Technical Work: [10 minutes]
- Scales, posture and technique, and 'Dozen A Day, Daily Piano Lesson Exercises' as well as other method's of technical development created by Daniel to work on dynamic shading, arpeggios, and tone often function to start the lesson, engaging the student's focus and challenging their memory to 'bring up' what was achieved in the previous lesson.
Repertoire: [15 minutes]
-Pieces are chosen from the 'Bastien Piano Teaching Method' which are supplemented by Daniel's personal collection of pieces and based on the students skill level and interest.
In this section we interact with the full capacity of the student to read music, master rhythm and technical difficulties, add increasingly subtle detail, achieve consistency and focus and all with the intention of eventually performing the work. Along the way we instill the knowledge and skills necessary to perform before an audience, often creating mock-performance environments.
Additional repertoire: [15 minutes]
- Students often learn and play Duet Repertoire with Daniel, engaging in the experience of Chamber musician creation and learning the importance of collaboration and listening.
- Students interested in pop and jazz begin work on aural skills or 'Ear Training', learning pieces by way of listening to them and then creating piano arrangements from the transcriptions they craft with Daniel's help. These arrangements become pieces in the student's repertoire.
Music Theory: [10 minutes]
- Theory: Students are taught early on to read 'key signatures' and 'time signatures' in tandem with the development of their scale work and their repertoire. Students learn the significance of the ordering of the scales, the intervals (distance between notes) which define them and multiple ways to deconstruct and define a scale and its parts, thereby allowing students to continue learning on their own, as well as developing the terminology to communicate with other musicians.
Theory gradually increases in complexity based on the student’s interest and skill level, to encompass every facet of chord making, harmony relationships and Roman Numeral Analysis.
- Vocab Word: Students receive a 'Vocab Word' every lesson. This word is a musical term, which will help the student to accurately communicate with Daniel and other musicians as well as more deeply understand the musical language.
- Flash Cards: Students also receive and develop a 'flash-card library'. This is a note-learning game which students play in each lesson with the goal of 'beating last weeks time' using increasing skills in sheet-music reading. As the student learns more notes and achieves faster times, the 'flash card library' grows and the challenge increases.
Improvisation: [5 minutes]
- Every lesson Daniel and the student improvise at least one piece of music. The student is guided over a period of weeks to internalize the concept of improvisation, eventually freeing them to the infinite and inspiring possibilities inherent in the practice of 'Improv'. Improvisations use and thereby reinforce the scales learned at the beginning of each lesson and demonstrate the importance of listening, collaboration, imagination and harmony.
The Color Game: [5 minutes]
- This is a game played at the end of each lesson in which Daniel and the student take turns striking a 'triad' (a chord with three notes). With eyes closed, the two participants begin to 'listen closely' to the chord as it is then restruck and eventually attempt to 'hear a color'. Students may also 'hear' shapes, textures, and scenes, which Daniel and the student then share with each other to great fascination and amusement, revealing similarities of interpretation and most importantly, opening the students mind to a new and magical understanding of sound.
This game, related to the psychological phenomenon of synesthesia, engages the students imagination, self-confidence and concludes each lesson is a fun, inspiring and exciting way.
- All of Daniel's students keep a 'piano notebook', in which they receive a practice plan at the close of each lesson. The practice plan outlines the goals and methods of practice for the coming week, as well as containing advice from and a synopsis of that day's lesson. The notebook further serves as a workbook and a reference used throughout the learning process.
