My first priority is to inspire and motive. Find out the students wants and needs, then tackle them head on. Exploring proper voice techniques and how to use the voice. Proper breathing technique. Learn music theory fundamentals and understanding the language of music so it can be applied to the voice. Phrasing, intonation and song building.

I have been teaching private lessons now for over two years. I specialize in teaching children and teens and am a student favorite at Take Lessons with a collection of wonderful reviews from students and their parents. I am a very thorough and patient teacher. However, I expect a MINIMUM of three days a week of practice from all of my students at a length of time equal to lesson length. Without adequate practice, the student cannot flourish in fine-tuning their skills and could ultimately end up disappointed. This is completely avoidable with diligent practice.
For my younger students (ages 6-11) I utilize the Little Singers series of text written by Gregory Blankenbehler. For ages 12 and up, I utilize The Contemporary Singer: Elements of Vocal Technique written by Anne Peckham, one of my most influential Berklee professors. In addition to these texts I incorporate the use of the Vaccai: the Practical Method of Italian Singing as well as many various traditional, jazz, pop, and r&b ...

About Danielle
I am a piano-playing singer/songwriter and graduate of Berklee College of Music with a degree in Professional Music focusing on songwriting, performance, and teaching. I was a leader of my high school music ministry (choir) for four years (Bishop Brady H.S., Concord NH) and volunteered as a 2nd grade Sunday School teacher (Immaculate Heart of Mary, Concord, NH) in my senior year. I have several years of performance experience having performed at The Farm Bar & Grille in Essex, MA, the Lizard Lounge and Cantab Lounge both in Cambridge, MA. I have appeared on Community Auditions (2011) and compose music for local independent film company Door Eleven Productions. I have long had a passion for music and would feel rewarded to be able to pass my knowledge onto you! I am friendly, patient and open to just about any genre of music you would be i
nterested in exploring. I am also able to provide a solid foundation of proper breath management, vocal exercises focusing on pitch and technique, and sight-reading. My goal is for you to be able to thoroughly develop your skills as a singer and performer!

*** Lesson Details ***
I am laid-back but hardworking and expect an equal level of commitment from my students. I am primarily interested in teaching beginner-intermediate level pupils. Prospective students can expect to start each lesson with vocal exercises focusing on breath support, posture and pitch. Any professional performer understands the importance of warming up prior to performing! Once properly warmed up, you give your voice the range and flexibility it needs to sing beautifully and effectively! I encourage note-taking as well as recording the lessons either on cassette or even your cellphone to assist in practicing on your own between lessons. Depending on my students level of experience, I will then decide which songs to work on that would best fit your range and area of interest. Once a certain amount of progress has been made I will open the doors to my students deciding on songs they'd like to work on specifically as well. After 3-6 months, I would anticipate my students to be able to effectively warm-up their voices on their own through exercises we will have covered, at least a basic understanding of how to sight-read your melody and certainly have a handful of songs memorized and ready to add to your repertoire!

*** Studio Equipment ***
living room portable keyboard seating for parents

*** Travel Equipment ***
I would bring my keyboard to each lesson unless one was provided (tuned pianos are okay as well). I would also bring music and texts that I would find beneficial to each particular student. I would expect my student to provide a journal to take notes and track progress. Also, though not necessary in all cases, I would expect my student to have sheet music for songs they're interested in learning as well as CD/cassette/MP3/etc. of songs they're interested in learning.

*** Specialties ***
I would start with a foundation of proper warm-ups, breathing techniques, and vocal exercises with me accompanying on piano. We would then spend the second half of the lesson working on songs primarily of my students choosing. I would be comfortable with just about any genre thus being able to cater to each one of my student's unique areas of interest.

This product has great features

Words will never be enough to express what Danielle has done for my daughter and her love of singing. Danielle has shown so much patience and commitment through her instruction and has boosted my daughters confidence 110%. She knows how to chose the perfect song for Alexis' voice and the emails that she sends after each session provide the proper tools for my daughter to carry out her 1 hour session to a full week. I could not have picked a better vocal coach for my daughter.

Exceeds expectations

My daughter Julia has been taking singing lessons with Danielle since July. Julia is in second grade and this is her first time taking singing lessons. Danielle has devoted so much time to researching good vocal exercises and music selections for a young singer and also to learning the songs Julia was interested in singing. Danielle always follows up within 24 hours with the audio for the lesson and an encouraging email. Danielle is very patient with Julia and takes a genuine interest in her. She listens to the little stories Julia likes to share with her and remembers details of what Julia shares, and has even taken a little extra time to teach Julia a little about playing the keyboard. I can't say enough good things about Danielle. She is a fantastic teacher and a lovely person.

I run a mentoring program and one of my mentees really wanted to learn how to sing. Through Take Lessons we found Danielle. She is terrific. Very professional and very patient. My mentee is learning so much with Danielle's help. I don't think this 16 year old girl has ever really been expected to work hard on perfecting something so it has been so good for her. This whole experience has been a real joy!

I've been teaching Voice for 15 years. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to increase your range and projection, and as time goes on you'll be able to sing songs of your interest. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you!

About Steve
I'm is a graduate of the Berklee College of Music. I've been teaching private music students since 1995. I've also developed and taught classes at both the high school and college level.

As a Songwriter, Producer, and Recording Artist I recorded the single, The Friend of Africa - Steve Kercher and the African Children’s Choir, featuring legendary bassist, Abraham Laboriel, drummer, JR Robinson (Michael Jackson, Quincy Jones), and guitarist Marty Walsh (Supertramp). I also recorded the full-length album, Maiden Voyage. Both recordings are distributed through iTunes, Spotify, and other major digital music retailers and streaming services worldwide.

I work hard to develop a curriculum for each student based on their needs and interests in music. Let's talk about your goals!

“Steve has been teaching both of my children for almost t
hree years. Steve is incredibly patient and the kids really enjoy the lessons (they work hard and laugh a lot!) . More importantly, though, Steve knows what he is doing and has great experience. He teaches technical concepts and theory while giving kids the freedom to choose songs and genres they enjoy most. Steve connects with kids and they respond to his enthusiasm by wanting to practice and wanting to progress. Steve fosters a love for all music which gets the kids excited to learn songs that might be outside of what they currently know. I would strongly recommend Steve to beginners, as well as advanced musicians.” Jennifer Kuhlman, Beverly MA

I am an opera singer who grew up singing bluegrass. I love all kinds of music, I love people at all skill levels, and I’m everyone’s biggest cheerleader. I studied at a major music conservatory, lead the voice program at a dance academy for two years, and have taught hundreds of kids at inner city schools throughout the Midwest. Patience is my middle name.

About Maureen
I am a professional opera singer who grew up singing bluegrass. I graduated from Peabody Conservatory of Music with a Bachelors of Music, specifically voice.

I've been singing professionally for 15 years in a variety of settings: I grew up in a family bluegrass band, sang musical theater through high school and college, sing in a female folk ukulele duo, and have a thriving career as a classical soprano in Chicago.

I love teaching students of all skill levels. For two years I was the head of the voice department for a dance academy. While there I maintained 15 students of varying age and skill level, and created a curriculum for their dance and voice integrated musical theater program. I also created a music education program for inner city schools in Milwaukee that had their arts funding taken away.

If you choose me as your teacher, I
'll be your biggest cheerleader. I'm patient, kind, and truly want those I work with to sing beautifully and healthily. Let's make some beautiful music together!

Maureen was a student of mine for 6 years, a student of my own graduate school voice teacher's for 4 years, and a student of my current voice teacher for the last few years. Since she was 13 years old, she has understood vocal technique in a way that some singers two or three times her age would be fortunate to grasp. She often helped other singers find their way through vocal issues, even as a teenager. I have always felt that she was meant to teach voice and anyone lucky enough to work with her will have a great experience and will learn a great deal! (Also, she's a great person.)

Singing is an amazing experience; it is taking your audience on a journey. In our lesson, we will go over vocal technique to free your voice and enable you to create the journey you visualize for your audience. We will explore warmups and exercises to fit your needs but most importantly, we will go over vocal health to ensure that you have a long lasting musical career. I am ready to share the knowledge I have gained in my six years of study in vocal performance and health. I teach commercial styles such as pop and soul. In our lessons you will not only learn to become a master of your instrument but will also learn to become a well rounded professional.

About Julieta
I am vocalist, performer and songwriter based in the Inland Empire. I have a growing fascination for performing and vocal technique. I studied these subjects for many years as an undergrad student and am currently continuing my education at Azusa Pacific University as a Vocal Performance and Music Business major.
I began performing with cover bands and choirs in 2014 covering genres such as rock, soul, jazz, rnb, gospel, contemporary christian, pop, classical and I presently perform at my home church.
It is important to me as an educator to help you grow as a musician and to encourage my students to become free in their artistry. Nothing gives me more joy that to see others first learn to embrace their weaknesses and turn them into strengths. I am very patient and love to share knowledge with anyone who is interested in learning.
