I'm a music-loving stay-at-home dad who enjoys sharing his hobbies of guitar and trumpet with the world! I have been teaching students of all ages, from elementary-age to older adults, for over 4 years now and I particularly enjoy introducing beginners to the joys of a new instrument. Whether you are just picking up your instrument for the first time, or dusting it off after years of sitting in the closet, I'm honored you would consider me to help you along your journey.

While I have studied music and music education at the university level, I have also learned a great deal through real-world experience and playing alongside other musicians and gleaning whatever I can from them. I have played both trumpet and guitar my whole life and consider myself to be a life-long learner of both instruments. For the beginner we start learning immediately, by choosing what guitar and why. The different methods of sitting with the guitar, as well as standing.We then go over tuning your instrument, these things make us more familiar with the instrument. We then learn new songs by playing either chords (harmony) or melodic lines, (melodies or scales). The beginner will also learn to use "proper technique" which includes playing on fingertips, thumb placement for the fretting hand and other approaches. The picking hand techniques include and are not limited to finger picking, or the use of the plectrum.

For intermediate player it's all about theory and practice. This level of student will learn scale and chordal theory, and apply them to existing songs as well as learning the new songs with the theory in mind. My goal is to help you start making great music and improve your skills quickly in a fun and easy to understand way. Lessons are based on YOUR personal goals and music interests. Learn the basic foundations and fundamentals then we dive right into your favorite songs and styles and focus on what interests you most.

Learn finger chords, bar chords, chord inversions, songs, scales, tricks, tips, licks and riffs, pitch, harmony, ear training, how to solo and improvise all up and down the fretboard and more.

I can also help you with singing, songwriting, recording, music gear and many other aspects of the music business.

I teach technique as it relates medically to our physiology in an attempt to make your playing effortless so your musicality comes through unincombered by technical challenges. The repertoire my students work on is their choice which, guided by myself, makes their musical journey unique.
