As a teacher I am very patient with students and enjoy helping them reach their own musical goals. I emphasize knowing the basics and encourage students to study music theory and basic reading of standard notation. I always ask my students to bring in songs they want to learn as a way to motivate them to practice more.

*** Lesson Details ***
GUITAR: I expect my students to practice at least 5 days a week for at least a 1/2 hour per day. I use the Suzuki method for young students ages 8 to10. We continue learning basic folk songs by ear and then start reading standard notation and basic theory within 6 to 8 months along with classical guitar duets. For older students I use the Hal Leonard guitar method. After 3 months of lessons students can expect to know the basic open position chords and strum patterns to some basic songs as well as some famous guitar riffs and also be able to read some basic melodies in standard notation. In the first lesson, Eli will assess what your goals are with learning guitar so that he can develop a personalized lesson style that will help you to meet them. The most important part of learning about music and learning to play both electric and acoustic guitar is practicing regularly. That is why he will also help you set and continue to refine a practice routine which will help you to reach your goals in the best and most rewarding way possible.

You will learn proven methods of technique, improvisation, warm up routines, chord & scale memory improvement, music theory, and how to play your favorite songs/albums of ANY genre. Yes ANY genre, Heavy Metal, Jazz, Rock, Blues, Classical, Flamenco, Finger-Tapping, Funk, Country.

I teach guitar to all levels! I want to know your favorite songs and I will help you learn to play through the music that YOU like. Guitar is fun, even though it takes a lot of practice, and every time you have a lesson I want it to make your day better.

I have played many styles of guitar on booth acoustic and electric, including classical, jazz, blues, rock, funk, pop, folk, Latin, and Celtic. In my personal practice I am currently enjoying learning more about open tunings and live looping with a pedal. If you are interested in learning music theory, improvisation, and songwriting I have many of my own unique methods to help you on the road to creativity and composition as well as technical skill.

As a certified yoga teacher I also emphasize correct body posture and relaxation to help make your playing more efficient and decrease discomfort.

I am a teacher with several years of experience, and I think that every student can develop their own voice on the instrument. I’m always trying to find new ways to play and teach, and also make music learning fun.
