About Denise
I hold a Master's in Voice Performance degree from University of New Orleans and Bachelor of Science degree in Voice Performance from State Music Academy, Sofia, Bulgaria.
In 2001, I toured with International European Opera Company which performed numerous times in Denmark, France, Italy and USA.
I currently perform and teach in the New Orleans area and love to share my knowledge and experience with my students. There is so much more to performance then just beautiful vocalizing.....

*** Lesson Details ***
My teaching is based on my own personal, classical training from Europe and North America. Whether it's opera, oratorio, musical theater or pop-style singing that is desired, I believe that classical technique is an essential source of proper singing that can be used to train singers of all genres.
Just like a piano, flute or vi
olin, your voice is an instrument.
The purpose of voice lessons is to help you develop a beautiful and dynamic singing voice and also to teach you to use your voice in a healthy age-appropriate way that will keep you singing for many years to come!
As your teacher, I want your lesson to be more than just singing through a few songs.
While what specifically happens during a voice lesson can vary greatly from student to student and from week to week, the overall structure of the lessons remains similar.
We will always start with some combination of warm-ups for your breath, body, and voice. Just as you wouldn't go running without first stretching and warming up your muscles, you don't want to start singing full songs without first getting your body and voice warmed up.
Warm-ups will also introduce you to new techniques for properly using your voice in a healthy and beautiful way.
After warm-ups, we will work on songs. Typically, you will sing through the song once, and then we will go through it in small, manageable chunks, applying the techniques from the warm-ups to the songs.
During the lesson we will also work on expression and acting. A song isn't just pretty notes—it tells a story. If it's a song from a musical, there's a specific character that sings it. It's your job as a singer to tell the story and to make it fun and exciting for the audience.
While there's a lot of hard work that goes on during a lesson, voice lessons are lots of fun! As your teacher, I am here to encourage you, support you, and guide you in your vocal studies. I look forward to working with you soon!

Phenomenal teacher. She really helped me understand concepts practically and has revolutionized my practice and I feel that I can finally sing with the sound I’ve been searching for and trying to emulate. I can’t thank her enough and I can finally get closer to my goals of beautiful singing. She is so patient even as I struggle, and she truly is a star.

About Maximillian
I've been playing music since I was 7 years old. The first record I remember playing on repeat and learning all the lyrics to was The Beatles' Rubber Soul. My musical tastes span many genres including rock, funk, R&B, jazz, folk, and many more. I love helping people discover new music, because hearing a great record for the first time can be a life changing experience. Although I first learned to play by ear, I took a strong interest in music theory in school, so I am able to teach in either style. I've been teaching lessons for 10 years now, and have watched my students grow into great players. I studied music at Ramapo College of New Jersey, worked as a touring musician and audio engineer in Nashville for 3 years, and now reside in Boston, where I play with many different musical groups. I also studied with legendary studio owner and au
dio engineer Lou Gonzalez, founder of QUAD Studios. His new studio, QUAD Lakeside in Raymond, Maine, is one that I helped build and use to record and produce bands from around the northeast.

Hi there, my name is Benji and I have been teaching private lessons since 2013. I started playing the violin at age 4 when my parents signed me up for Suzuki violin lessons. l feel in love with the violin and began to play non-stop. I also have been competing in state fiddle competitions since the age 6. I am trained in classical and fiddle/bluegrass music and enjoy both styles.

I individualize lesson plans around students wants and needs. My most important goal is to put a love and admiration of music in my students. For that reason, I focus on a variety of musical styles of interest to the student.

Don't hesitate to reach out with any questions you may have and I can't wait to help you reach your goals!

I'm really enjoying learning the fiddle. Benji is a very good instructor. He has a great deal of experience and knowledge, has great intuition about how to present and teach, encourage and challenge me based on where I am moment to moment. He is very patient and encouraging, with a calm energy, which are excellent qualities in a teacher. I highly recommend him.

About Jennifer
My Philosophy and Teaching Model:
As a teacher, I strive to always put my students first. I work closely with you to help you grow as a musician and as a student. I do not believe in a one-size-fits-all teaching model. Instead, I believe in a flexible and customizable teaching method, which means that I create a highly personalized learning experience for each student I work with, no matter their ability level or background. Whether you have been playing for twenty years and want to get back in shape or you first touched the flute last week, I can help you to improve upon your existing skills and help you advance to the next level.
After our first lesson together, I will create a customized curriculum designed specifically to address your needs as a student, and I will work with you to reach milestone goals as you progress th
rough your studies. You will have weekly goals, you will be given regular performance opportunities, you will be trained in music theory, and you will learn pedagogical techniques. I like to teach every student foundational techniques, then build upon their musical interpretation skills, and, for more advanced students, I teach music theory.
I pride myself in giving my students 110%, and I value giving my students a highly personalized private lesson experience. I hope that this philosophy resonates with you as you search for a music mentor, and I encourage you to reach out if you are interested in having private lessons tailored specifically for you.

My experience:
I started playing the flute when I was in fourth grade. My elementary school offered weekly flute classes, then in fifth grade we had weekly orchestra classes. But I loved the flute so much I wanted more. I began private lessons at 10 years old, and I have never looked back. From there, I went on to play in my high school's marching band, concert band, pit orchestra, and symphony orchestra; I played in three different flute choirs and my local youth orchestra outside of school; I earned two performance degrees from the University of North Texas (Bachelor of Music) and Stony Brook University (Master of Music); I have performed with orchestras in the United States, Canada, and Europe; I have played in pit orchestras for musicals and operas; I have competed in solo competitions, I have auditioned for professional orchestras; and I have taught dozens of students of all ages across the country.
I remain eternally grateful to all my generous mentors who have inspired me throughout my career. My mentors include notable flutists Dr. Mary Karen Clardy, Dr. Elizabeth McNutt, Francine Ross Pancost, Dr. James Scott, Terri Sundberg, Jim Walker, and Carol Wincenc.

I have listened to Jennifer as she gave flute lessons to several young beginning students. I observed that she truly cares about her students and invests herself in their progress. She has a creative teaching style, always coming up with new ways to approach the challenges of each individual student. She spends time to discover the students’ goals and structures their lesson plans accordingly. Jennifer is also a good communicator with the parents of younger students, making sure they are informed and inviting them to observe lessons if they wish. I’m sure you’ll find her a delight to work with.

About Emily
I have been playing/totally nerding out about the bassoon since I was twelve years old. It is a world I have been in love with since, and I am absolutely thrilled at the opportunity to share the same experience I've had with people of all ages.

I'm currently a freelance musician working with professional orchestras and opera and theatre companies based in Central Illinois and Eastern Michigan. My Bachelor of Music is in Bassoon Performance from Illinois Wesleyan University, and I hold the Master of Music degree in Bassoon Performance from the University of Michigan.

I am passionate about chamber and new music. I have played in several chamber music groups, some of them being very experimental, often employing the use of interactive lighting for the hearing impaired. In 2016, I spent a month in Kyustendil, Bulgaria playing in grou
ps coached by members of the Bulgarian Radio Symphony. I thoroughly enjoy the opportunity working with other musicians to provide new experiences to all.

Many years ago I was coached in a chamber music setting by Cornelia (in one hour the piece had been wholly transformed), and when my daughter, then 6, came to me and said she wanted to play the violin, I knew exactly whom to call. I was a little worried then that Cornelia might not take beginners, but to my joy, her attitude is (excuse me for putting words in your mouth, Cornelia) "Of course I take beginners! How else to keep them from developing bad habits in the first place?" Fast forward to now: that 6 year-old became the concertmistress of the NEC Youth Symphony in Boston, has traveled around the country and around Asia playing the violin with the highly competitive National Youth Orchestra, and continues to play with excellent players to this day--and all because she was set on the right path by Cornelia, who is focused and kind. She's also demanding of excellence, and wildly enthusiastic about your progress. If you want to pay for lessons but don't really care about what kind of job you do, go somewhere else. Cornelia is the real deal. Violin isn't easy: if you want to start right, start here. If you want to get better, you've come to the right place. If you want really to think about the music you're playing, she's your guy. Plus she's got a great laugh.

Cornelia is fantastic! We have been going to her for years. We have also heard from friends that she is the best violin teacher in the area. It would be hard not to agree. If you want to learn to play violin, she is the teacher for you. If you do not want to work hard and be accurate with your playing, then probably better to move on.

Take guitar lessons with a Berklee College of Music graduate! All levels welcome! I will help you reach any goal whether you want to play professionally or just want to learn your favorite song. I have a strong background in music theory and have learned both Jazz and Classical theory from some of the best professors and musicians in the world. My favorite thing as a teacher is to dissect a student's favorite song and show them the "how" and the "why" of the song. What makes it sound so good? It's so gratifying to see a student use a concept that I've explained to them from their favorite song and reuse it in their own way to make their own music. I can't wait to work with you and watch you flourish as a musician!
