About Christina

Christina has played piano since the age of 3! She was given a piano for Christmas and never looked back. She has taken private lessons starting at age 6 and went on to the prestigious Ithaca College to major in Piano Performance. She also holds a B.A. degree in Psychology from Montclair State University. Although her plan was originally to travel the world performing, she decided that her passion was teaching the joy of music to others, and has made that her life. Christina has 15 years of teaching experience in professional music studios in NJ. She began at Elisabeth's School of Piano, which has now grown into the Ringwood School of Music. While I have only had 3 lessons thus far with Christina, I can say with confidence that she is an outstanding instructor. She inquires as to how you learn, what style of teaching best works for the student, and what it is we want to learn, rather than a rigid lesson plan. That is not to say that she does not expect effort, practice & a desire to learn from her students, or that she doesn't have a lesson plan. She builds what I believe is a sound foundation for her beginner students by teaching us to read music and going note by note, chord by chord until it's done correctly. She is also very encouraging. Her ability to play all genre's of piano music is a huge asset as well. I would highly recommend her to students of all ages and abilities .

Christina is amazing! My son is autistic so it was a challenge to handle him, but Christina was able to do it and he loves his music lessons. Great teacher, very professional and creative.

I started going to Gabriel almost a year ago, and I have to say it was the best decision of my life. He helped me to become more confident in myself and my singing. I now have a greater passion for singing than ever before, and have improved drastically since my first lesson. Gabriel brings out the best in people, inspires you to do your absolute best, and helps you to reach your full potential. He is effective, personable, and by far the best vocal teacher I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Just amazing. I highly recommend him, you won't find a better teacher, individual or friend anywhere else.

I have been working with Gabriel for about five months and have already noticed an improvement in my vocal performance. Gabriel's vocal exercises have been most beneficial in helping me to strengthen the ends of my vocal range and developing a stronger, higher quality tone. I look forward to each lesson, as Gabriel is always prepared with new and challenging exercises and he encourages me to strive for ever-improving performance. Overall, while Gabriel's critiques and tips are very specific, they can be applied to the performance of music from any genre, which makes him a very effective teacher.

This was my first time taking singing lessons and Gabriel was a pleasant surprise. He gave me voice exercises and taped them and emailed them to me later so that I
could practice. He is friendly and welcoming and seemed to know instinctively what I needed to improve my singing. He is a very caring and patient instructor and it is obvious that he really loves being a music teacher. I would strongly recommend him to anyone that would like to improve their singing.

My review is basically the same as the one below - my son is a little slow at guitar and Nelson is SO patient with him. You can tell he loves music and he really enjoys the teaching process. What a great find.

I have taken 8 lessons with Nelson and I'm very happy with him as my teacher. He is an accomplished guitarist, but more importantly, as a teacher he's very patient and allows me to learn at my own pace (which is slow). I would recommend him to anyone wishing to learn to play the guitar.

About Gio

I studied music at UCF (Orlando), focusing on classical and jazz guitar, but I also have years of experience playing rock, blues, folk, hip-hop, and musical theater on both guitar and drums. I have been teaching guitar, drums, and piano for about eight years to students of all ages. Music is what I'm passionate about and it's what I enjoy. I want to inspire that same passion into the hearts and minds of others. *** Lesson Details *** I am a laid-back teacher, fun, and I focus on the needs, abilities, and ambitions of the student. In turn, students must realize that learning an instrument takes a lot of work and dedication. One can't expect to learn very much if s/he only practices or thinks about the instrument during the lesson. If the student is willing to put some time into ...

Great, creative teacher

Gio has a great way of thinking outside the box and teaching my daughter each week. He uses creative methods to engage her and help her relate to the material and provides easy instructions for practicing during the week. He is patient and easy going which allows for her not to feel overwhelmed as she's just learning the guitar. I'm very happy with how he's teaching her!

Alexander V.

Tenafly, NJ

About Alexander

Both teaching and performing have always been a large part of my life. Even as early as high school (Kiev State R.M.Gliere Higher College of music), I was already conducting private lessons and directing the wind ensemble. And it was at the St. Petersburg Conservatory in Russia, that I received my Masters Degree in Music Education, Performance and Conducting. During the period from 1977-89, I held the position of principal Clarinet in the St. Petersburg Symphony and Kiev State Opera orchestras. At the same time, I worked as a professor at the Kiev State Music Academy. When I immigrated to the US in 1989, I pursued various performance opportunities and was even offered a position in “The President’s Own” military band in Washington, DC. Unfortunately, due to extenuating ...

I have had plenty of lessons with Vengerov and he can make a young musician 100x better. He fixed a lot of the problems in regards to my bad habits on clarinet. After each lesson, I felt motivation and progress as a musician. My family, and I saw major improvement after taking lessons with Vengerov as well, and I have listened to multiple of his other students play and was always impressed at how amazing they sounded. He is a big help in my high school Wind Ensemble too.
Vengerov is helpful, professional, and is absolutely 1st rate.

Mr. Vengerov is the epitome of a great teacher. When I first came to him, my skills were lacking in just all about major aspects- tone, finger/hand placement, breathing technique, music theory, etc.. After the first lesson, he had accurately identified everything that I needed to improve upon and started with the fundamentals to build a strong base; all the while keeping the ultimate goal of becoming a better player individually, and in an ensemble, in mind. At the end of each lesson I feel as if a significant amount of progress has been made and I know exactly what to work on and how to work on it. Mr. Vengerov is an extremely patient, knowledgeable, and passionate teacher that you can always count on to be reliable and accommodating. I highly recommend taking lessons with him to anyone who has an interest in advancing their skills, because nothing is better than a teacher that truly loves what they do.
