"Highly engaging music teacher for children
Amanda R has been coming to my home to teach my daughters, ages 6 and 8, piano and music theory (reading music
, etc) for several months now. We are very pleased with her. After a series of private and group lessons with other highly qualified teachers, we finally found all we were looking for with Amanda. She is well-spoken, well-educated and very professional both in person and in email or phone communication. She engages the children from the first moment and is very patient with them. They trust her and enjoy working with her. Amanda was able to quickly see what the girls already knew and where their knowledge had gaps, and to tailor lessons to their abilities and interests. The practice she assigns during the week is very reasonable/not overwhelming. the girls show a very good improvement in their music skills! I would recommend Amanda to any family looking for a music teacher for their children. She clearly has a passion and gift for working with kids!"

As a first time voice student, I had no idea what to expect. I have been very nervous in music lessons as an adult. Mary is so friendly,
fun and knowledgeable and I feel she knows her craft. Lessons are enjoyable and I am not nervous, and feel comfortable even though I am such a novice."

Hi, there! My name is Brenda and I can't wait to meet you! I've been teaching private lessons since 1985 and have loved helping my students become well rounded piano players, skilled and highly expressive artists and outstanding musicians. A good musical foundation is important in having a sound piano technique and skill. One should be able to learn theory and methods easily with me. However, it is interesting to note that as my student you can develop your own artistry and technique as well. These are what I hope to deliver as your teacher ---help you learn the theory, skills, technique
and method in a fun and casual environment! Remember ... our goal is to learn as much as we can in every lesson and try to throw any questions you might have during the class. It will be greatly appreciated. To let you know more about myself, at age 5, I started playing the piano and went on to finishing Piano Pedagogy from Saint Louis Music Center and B.S. Mass Communications from Saint Louis University . My career as a music educator started when I taught piano at the Yamaha School of Music. Ten years of classical training me has helped me attain this rewarding career. As a child, I have had the opportunity to be a performer and an accompanist to many choral groups in school. My musical experiences also include performing in Cafe Vasilici, San Leandro, California, where I can play all styles especially classical music. The ability to sight read is just one of the many endowments I can teach. Others include, an impeccable love for music and a good ear for music. Brenda showed talent and a keen interest in piano playing at an early age of 5. She underwent extensive and rigid musical training at the Saint Louis Music Center (an independent music school exclusively run by the Nuns of Saint Louis University, Baguio City, Philippines) from the years 1972 to 1981. Under the tutelage of Mrs. Edna Maniquis, she learned how to effectively sight read any song, memorize her recital pieces and be very proficient in piano playing. In 1984, she continued to study with Mrs. Linda Lirag Reynado, a St. Paul's College Conservatory of Music graduate with a Major in Piano, Minor in Voice and who is the founder and owner of Baguio Music Studio, Philippines. In 1992 she finished a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education and Piano Pedagogy from Saint Louis University. As a piano student in her early years, she had the opportunity to become a finale performer in her student recitals gaining recognition as the best performer in her class. Growing up, during her high school and college years, she was involved with accompanying singers or chorus groups on the piano and joining in competitions where she won several awards and distinctions. Her musical experiences include playing in front of an audience and performing all styles and especially classical music. Her 16 years of classical training also helped her attain a teaching position at the Yamaha School of Music in the Philippines and a rewarding teaching career at the Florida Conservatory of Music in Jacksonville, Florida.
*** Lesson Details *** Have you ever started playing piano but got stumped and frustrated with the theory? Then you've come to the right class. I will teach you the keyboard skills and fundamentals you will need to become a successful pianist. I will provide you a step-by-step explanation on how to play the piano. If you need help with the written theory and you want to learn more about how to read and write notes, all you need to do is to enroll in my class. My instruction includes activities that will help you use the musical alphabet to read and write notes on the staff, identify intervals, and write sharps and flats. Not only will I emphasize note reading but I will help you develop a keen intelligent understanding of the musical notes and alphabet. In no time you will be playing the piano or keyboard and most especially read and play any music as you appreciate it!
It takes time and effort to learn how to play the piano and not all are expected to become wizards at it. For the most part, students should practice the piano/keyboard more often than not and just keep up with the course requirements when enrolled in my class. It takes enthusiasm, interest and most of all perseverance to play the piano however, with me you will succeed and be driven to become a good and skilled pianist!

My son, Vinay, learned so much from Ms. Blanchard's class. She is an exceptional Piano Teacher and can vouch for her teaching abilities and skills.
I completed musical studies at the Conservatory of Music of San Juan, Puerto Rico and graduated MAGNA CUM LAUDE, with Majors in Musical Education and as a Performing Artist. I am a qualified multilingual Music Instructor. I have performed as a guitarist with several orchestras, musical groups, bands and as classical guitar soloist I have given numerous recitals and concerts. I have worked as a Music Educator at the Social & Pedagogic Academic Institutes teaching pedagogic & didactic principles to teachers and at the same time I have been teaching classical and popular guitar at all levels
and ages at several other music schools. I wrote two guitar methods "MELODIC GUITAR" for beginners from 7 years of age and up, which has been translated from Papiamentu into the English and Spanish languages and "MELODIC GUITAR 2" which has been translated from Papiamentu into English. Although my music background is classical, I play and teach popular music, which I appreciate. Just to mention a few famous guitarists who's styles appeal to me: Carlos Santana, George Benson, Paco de Lucia, Julian Bream. I also teach electrical and acoustic guitar, bass-guitar, piano/keyboard, ukulele, Venezuelan & PR cuatro, songwriting and music theory. Music is an International language; a way to express inner feelings! And Teaching it, is my passion!

The lesson itself was very good and challenging. The only flaw was a technical issue with the video feed.

Introduction to Violin Music Notes
The violin is often considered by musicians to be one of the most challenging instruments to learn. Its roots trace back many centuries and it was clearly a definitive instrument in shaping classical music all over the world. One of the reasons it is considered a difficult instrument to learn is that it's a fretless string instrument, making violin music notes appear to be inexact, yet fingering must still be done with precision. The reward for learning this sweet-sounding elegant instrument, ho

Kawai vs. Yamaha: Who Makes Better Pianos?
Getting ready to buy your first piano, but not sure which manufacturer to look into? Here, St. Augustine, FL teacher Heather L. shares a bit about two of the best piano brands...
Two of the first questions that I get from parents of my piano students are "What kind of piano should I get?" and "What are the best piano brands?" The facts of the matter are that our modern piano is a 19th century invention about which many people, even pianists, don't know a lot about, and the curre
3 Reasons Why Piano Players Should Also Learn the Organ
There are many reasons why a music student may find themselves learning to play piano on a keyboard rather than on a baby grand: cost, space, or simply lack of access, for example. Versatility on a range of keyboard instruments is also an extremely useful string for any pianist to have to their bow, and can lead to greater practice and public performance opportunities, and even excellent opportunities to earn a little money on the side.
The organ, although not the most prevalent or popular musi
