I am versed in all the major training methodologies from Suzuki to Alfred, but I craft my teaching to the goals and personalities of my students. I teach both my sight and by ear training--believing that they both work together.

I've been playing piano for almost as long as the bass, my primary instrument. Piano offers amazing flexibility to make multiple voices sound out at once, and it's important to so many genres. I can teach reading music, hand independence, improvisation, and especially how to play jazz piano chords.

I have loved this instrument from the beginning, and you will, too. I've performed a diverse array of music in many different contexts, from playing jazz in cafes and Debussy & Bach in recitals, to leading Beatles singalongs from the piano bench. In music school, I tutored many of my peers in the piano curriculum. People start playing piano for different reasons and with different goals, and my job as your teacher is to help you meet those goals, while also giving you a firm understanding of music and how the instrument works. I look forward to helping you discover the musical magic of the piano!

LESSON STYLE
My goal as a teacher and mentor to my students, (with innovative lesson planning), is to effectively teach them in a way as to save years of training to get them to their desired goal.

A student (beginner) studying with me for a year often sounds like they have the musical maturity of someone that has been taking 3 or 4 years of lessons.

During lessons, Munro utilizes modern teaching techniques to assure quality results for his students. He has experience and success working with students of all ages, regardless of previous experience.
