I've been singing professionally & learning voice myself for over 25 years ~ I focus on breath control, body awareness, vocal ranges, manipulation of sounds, placement/delivery, using one's belting voice properly, performance, ear training, harmony, solfeggio, reading music if one is interested etc. I teach everything from Contemporary/Pop, R&B, & Soul to Jazz, to Punk Rock & Indie Rock to Country to Musical Theater ~ everything but full on Opera, but I did study Opera for 1 year. I love teaching Voice and helping people discover their own unique sound.

In singing, we learn ear training, as well as note-reading, and a variety of vocal techniques, including breathing, pronunciation, strengthening the vocal muscles, and expanding the student's range. We also talk about the story telling behind the lyrics of a song and various performing techniques.

For books, I use the Full Voice Workbook series, in combination with some of my own materials for ear-training and basic theory. I use a variety of songbooks that focus on Disney songs, Broadway/show tunes, classical, and folk songs, depending on the student's age. If there are songs the student wants to work on outside of our regular lesson material, I encourage them to bring that to the lesson as well.

My name is Sam Williams and I'm a senior songwriting major at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. I have seven years of choral experience and six years of musical theatre experience at the Community School of the Arts in my hometown of Marion, Indiana. I am a Nashville recording artist specializing in the folk/pop genre and have performed around Indiana and Tennessee for the past 8 years. With my classical and commercial voice experience, I am able to teach in any preferred genre!

I would love to use my experience and knowledge to help you or your child grow as a singer. There is no prior experience needed! My goal to help develop techniques and a foundation that will help you grow in your musical abilities.

I love teaching and I have been doing it for 14 years. I started teaching as an adjunct professor at Florida State University while receiving my Masters degree in vocal performance. I have gone on to sing with small Opera companies, Universal Studios, and cruise ships. However, teaching is something that I remain passionate about. For me it is rewarding to see my students grow as performers and become stronger singers.

I offer an individual approach with every student I work with! The lessons are catered to students' goals. I will be graduating in May with a BFA in musical theatre and I have experience teaching ages 4-13. I can teach the following vocal styles:

I will be instructing you on the basics of proper playing techniques, music theory, and musicianship. You will learn to read notated music and also play by ear which will make you a well rounded player.
