Renee has a Bachelor degree from the University of Dayton in Music Therapy with an emphasis on piano, voice and music theory. She has been teaching children from age five to adult for over 12 years. In 1995 I taught children from Kindergarten to 4th grade Music at Liberty Christain Cathedral. In 2000 she worked at The Dayton Academy teaching music classes to elementary school children. In 2006 she taught voice to a school choir at Nehemiah University. In 2007 she successfully taught voice and performance to a Senior Choir at Wesley Community Center. The Senior Choir had many Choir performances. Also in 2007,she taught voice lessons and keyboard lessons to a youth choir at Maranatha Worship Center for seven years. she cond

Charlie is a certified music teacher, who teaches in areas surrounding Wendell and travels to teach in the Raleigh, Zebulon and Knightdale areas. He teaches in his home in Wendell and travels to other areas on certain days. (See availability)

He first began teaching guitar and piano during his music studies at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, MS. At the university and after receiving his degree in music education, he has taught and performed in various musical settings and venues which has included the genres of classical, jazz, blues, rock, folk and country. Besides teaching and performing, Charlie also is a songwriter who writes songs for his groups performances and teaches his more advanced students songwriting.

Drawing upon his education and experiences as both performer and teacher, he strives to rel
ate his background to his student's learning experiences and progress. As each student comes with his or her individual musical wants and interests, student lessons are designed to meet these needs of a particular student. Charlie has young students of ages 5 to 14 as well as students of upper ages. According to a student's level of musicianship (beginner, advanced or in between), students are taught how to read music, music theory in relation to their progress, chords, scales and how to write/compose their own songs. He has designed a method of teaching which is full of great musical exercises & fun illustrations for the young student to enjoy while learning skills on their instrument.

For example, students can began with simple fingerings of chords & beginning melodies played in slow rhythms to allow the student to develop at a comfortable pace. Students that can not read music notation begin simple reading exercises of note recognition, time signatures, note values, eye hand coordination and more.

*** Lesson Details ***
I design student lessons according the age, playing level and music related interests as lessons can cover a broad range of interests and musical styles. For my beginning students- to develop their understanding of playing chords and rhythms,
I teach chords as they relate to musical keys and some common rhythm patterns used in many popular songs.

For guitar students, I have designed & developed my own materials for guitar (sheets & accompanying CD) which guide students in practicing chords progressions, strum/rhythm patterns & scales/melodies in relation to chords. My students have shown much success in these methods of concentrating on developing that essential sense & feel for playing different rhythm styles. Piano instruction is centered on learning to read music notation and music theory as it relates to the student's progress.

As students advance, more emphasis is placed on improvising on melodies, different approaches to soloing and chord extensions and substitutions. Also, students are taught music theory as it relates to their progress to enable them to create their own music.

I have a good selection of method books and materials to fit each student's level of musicianship and choice of playing style(s) to extend upon their interests and goals.

My approach to teaching is to make lessons fun and enjoyable in a comfortable and relaxed setting to allow the student full
concentration on each lesson. But, also to provide the necessary guidance and encouragement to challenge and motivate students to improve and develop natural strengths and new skills.

I began piano lessons with Charlie as a total beginner and he quickly helped me find my footing. He was always patient and encouraging and asking questions designed to make sure the lessons were structured in a way that would most efficiently achieve my own personal goals. I'm usually a pretty nervous person, but Charlie has a warm presence that makes it easy even for people like me to be able to open up and focus on what's important, the music. I highly recommend him to anyone who's been thinking about learning the piano but hasn't quite been able to take the plunge yet.

My name is Pete. I've been playing guitar for over 18 years. In 2011 I graduated from the Berklee College of Music in Boston with a degree in Professional Music. There, I spent several semesters studying with Tomo Fujita (former teacher of John Mayer and Eric Krasno). I've also been lucky enough to study with some incredible guitarists like Pat Martino, Pat Metheny, Jonathan Kreisberg, Jack Pezanelli, and Gilad Hekselman. Stevie Ray Vaughan, Wes Montgomery, Dave Matthews, and Jimi Hendrix are responsible for inspiring me to play guitar and I specialize in teaching blues and jazz guitar, bass, ukulele, and piano. I firmly believe that every serious musician should study ear training and music theory and I incorporate these areas in my lessons as long as the student wants to study this way. I've performed with a bunch of great artists in t
he Boston and Philadelphia area.
In 2011, I successfully obtained my master's degree in Jazz Studies from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. The master's program was an intense submersion in music performance that shaped me into the musician that I am today. I was lucky to study with Don Glanden, Mike Kennedy, and Kevin Hanson.
I am also well versed in computer recording software and DAWs. I teach students how to use software programs such as Logic and Reason as well as notation software like Sibelius and Finale. With some basic training in these programs, I can teach a student how to effectively record and produce professional quality recordings so that a student can write, record, and produce their own music.

Because I've studied with some legendary teachers who have taught some legendary students (like John Mayer), I'm able to pass on to my students the same knowledge that these incredible teachers passed on to me. Learning guitar should be interesting and fun! While we're studying all the different aspects of the instrument, you'll also be learning how to play your favorite songs and solos! I approach each student as an individual and structure their lessons according to what I determine they need, as well as what they are interested in musically. I concentrate on many different areas; ear training, theory, playing technique, improvisation, various styles of music, and, the physics of the guitar. Understanding how the instrument works is important in my opinion. My long term goal is to teach a student how they can teach themselves down the line. Understanding why you’re playing something is just important as knowing how to play it. I aim to give a student rich and well rounded one-on-one time!

GENERAL BIOGRAPHY:

ave been teaching and performing for over a decade both in the US, and in England. I have played in various bands and have produced independent artists. I have worked for a recording studio and for various academic institutions including the Filomen M. D'Agostino Greenberg Music School in New York city.

I obtained my degree from Purchase College in New York and am a member of their Conservatory of Music.

I construct lessons for each individual student depending on their musical tastes, goals, and current skill level etc. I want each person to get as much from their time studying with me as possible. Within three to six months, I'll have you working on timing, theory, ear training, improv, and songs/styles of music you may be interested in. I'm laid back, however, I expect at least the minimum practice time between lessons, which I'll change throughout the course of our time together depending on your skill level etc. Practice materials I draw up are included. I write out everything in plain English and do not require the use of sheet music!

Cameron is an excellent teacher for me. I am 11 years old and have been playing for almost a year with him. He is patient and makes me stretch to be a better guitarist. He takes time to find songs at my level of learning and accommodates my tastes in music. I would recommend him for anyone who is interested in playing guitar.

A solid teacher with a lot of experience

My original band, Danielle and The Masses, has been recording and performing live since 2001. We are endorsed by Ani Difranco, The Black Eyed Peas, The Bruce Hornsby Band, and have shared the stage with artists as Jamie Foxx, CAKE, Metric, En Vogue, David Byrne, Berlin, Margaret Cho, Cyndi Lauper, Jonatha Brooke, Beth Hart, Semi Precious Weapons and more.

I have a great time utilizing my contacts in the industry to help my students get work/ press / entrance into the schools of their choice, etc. For example, I'm happy to report that just last year we were able to book eight musicians on GLEE, as well as lots more in other capacities including using their music in commercials and film and helping them get cast in local theatre and accepted into arts-centered schools.

*** Lesson Details ***
I start on the first lesson by becoming clear about what the new student's goals and desires are from there, we start developing technique to achieve those goals along with having fun right away doing what they came for - singing, writing, voice over, acting or using a combination of these things be it for professional purposes or personal fulfillment. Every lesson is personally customized to meet the specific goals of each student. As a teacher, I'm encouraging and fun, passionate and positive. While I'm definitely not "strict", I do appreciate focus and drive. However, I often work with people who have special needs and are working on developing those very things. I'm especially good at helping people through progress plateaus, roadblocks, stage fright, loss/ stress. Using music as a means of release and healing - for both kids and adults - is something I do a lot of and am very comfortable with.

As far as technique is concerned, I focus on utilizing posture, correct breathing and developing relaxed, strong support, so that the muscles are developed properly. We want the voice to develop without stress, enabling the student to constantly grow while steering clear of any injury that can happen as a result of straining, not to mention other habits that manifest when we sing without proper technique.

I strongly encourage students to record their lessons on a mobile device so they can practice easily on their own, and so they eventually have a record of how far they've grown.
We mostly use tracks to develop repertoire, prepare for auditioning and performances, and to have fun singing the music that excites each student the most.

Using music, writing and voice as a means of expressing yourself, growing as a performance artist, coping in challenging times, as well as a means of going professional and earning income are all areas I specialize in. Utilizing proper technique and learning how to sing / speak safely is also an area I focus on a great deal.

Learning precisely what each student wants is the key factor in my decision on how to achieve their goals. For example, using Speech Level Singing is definitely entrenched in my teaching, but I may not highlight it as much for those who want a more classical sound.

I excel with the following: first timers, very young kids, students working through stage fright, artists looking to develop their own original project, those seeking growth in their process of writing / recording / performing, those who are interested in using music and / or writing as therapy as well as with amateurs who've always wanted to do something musical but who think they are "too old" or too "untalented/short/tall/ fill in the blank" to try. I believe we all have something to say with our lives - finding the voice within you can be an incredibly powerful and transformative experience!

Danielle is such a versatile teacher that I almost feel like I have to write two glowing reviews about her. I began by taking singing lessons with her, but after a while I decided to try acting as well. This review might be slightly longer than the others, so the synopsis is: if you've ever wanted to do any singing, acting, voice acting, or any kind of performance really, talk to Danielle. You'll be glad you did.

I first met Danielle when I finally decided to try singing lessons to see what it was like. I'm so glad that Danielle is the teacher I decided to go with, she's an incredible voice coach and person. The improvements I made in such a short time with her and that I could see every lesson were so much more than I ever expected, and she's so supportive that I've ended up getting totally outside of my comfort zone without even realizing it.

Now for the second part: I decided I wanted to try acting, and since this is also something Danielle excels at doing and teaching in addition to singing, doing acting lessons with her was a no-brainer. Knowing me and my strengths, she suggested we start by trying out voice acting. I am in no way exaggerating when I say that I did one voice acting lesson with Danielle and was so encouraged by her, that I went out and got a paying job as a voice actor that same week. And Danielle helped me through every step of the process, and might have been the only person more excited about my success than I was!

Meeting Danielle and taking lessons with her has changed the entire career path I want to follow in ways I never imagined. I cannot recommend her enough! Even if you're just looking for some great singing lessons on the weekends and not a new life trajectory, you'll be glad you met Danielle :).

My 16 year old son loves his lessons with Darrell and looks forward to them every week. He'd been taking guitar lessons elsewhere that were okay-ish, but this is so much more. Darrell is great, not only does he get along with and make my son want to learn, but at the same time they are working on voice, he is also teaching keyboard and working on the guitar! We really couldn't have asked for a better instructor.

Hello and Welcome!
My name is Sarah and I am honored you have chosen to look at my profile. Finding the right teacher is so important! I always try to make sure that I accommodate what is best for the student when I approach teaching. Now a bit about me! I graduated from Lees-McRae College in May 2017 with a BFA in musical theater and a minor in art and design. I know at a glance it may be overwhelming how many classes I teach. You see as Musical Theatre Major I had to learn all about dance, makeup, singing, acting, and all of the sub categories that go with it; not to mention with my minor in art and design I know my way around with a paint brush. Art, in all forms are has always been my way of expressing, feeling, and embracing life. I took an internship at the Arkansas Arts Center Children's Theatre and I had to learn ALL aspects of
theatre and work with kids every day.

I was training American Sign Language at Northern Virginia Community College back in 2012. In 2015 I studied under an ASL master from Gallaudet University. I have continued to further my knowledge of ASL every day. I was recently the ASL captain at work who helped make sure all signs were done correctly and expressed properly.

My goal is to help you learn what you are craving to know! I try to not charge too high for lessons, I know that this is something that is for fun and is not always a possibility so I try to keep it at a lowish price so that everyone has a chance to learn. I am very flexible to schedules. I am willing to have a regular time or switching it up weekly; I have students who travel for a living so they are always on a different time zone; no matter the obstacle I will make it work for you!
Something that is great to know about me is that I never stop training, pursuing growth and knowledge. I read books in these various fields to learn more and more, take master classes, and train with my own vocal coaches. I think art - on any platform, is a great way to get out of your head, free your mind, and open up yourself. So this can be for professional training, a hobby you always wanted to pursue, or a dream you wanted to chase after.

In my class with you, or you child, I will make an individualized lesson plan that focus around what skills you already have, what skills you aim to improve/gain, and how you learn. I am very familiar with the fact that we are ALL different, which means we will all learn DIFFERENTLY. I am willing to explain something in as many ways as one needs in order to understand. I like to think of my lessons as a “safe place” to explore, have fun, grow, and be okay with making mistakes. We will always start with the basics, understand the core of the craft - for example in singing that would be our vocal anatomy and how it all connects together. I use props to help make the concept more visual and graspable as well as diagrams. This is not something someone will pick up in one lesson, so don’t come in saying “I can’t”, you can, you just have to learn HOW. I will show you the how. Remember, this is a learning process, we must embrace each step of our growth.

Some background of how I came to do what I do:
I have been working professionally for theatres for five years now; which has had me living in various towns in NC, OH, AR, and traveling nationwide for tours. I have a lot of experience under my belt for my years. I began taking performance classes as young as age 2 when I started ballet, then I began singing in choir in third grade. I started being in awe of sign language when I saw an interpreter working her magic around age ten and I asked my mom for a sign language book. Expanding my knowledge is what I do for fun, so when you pick me you pick someone who is constantly growing and learning more which will ultimately benefit the student.

I teach a variety of classes that, for the most part, circle around the arts! Some of my classes include, but are not limited to: Acting, Child Acting, Improv Audition Prep, Various styles of “Singing” classes, Ear Training, Musical Theatre, Music Performance, Various “Art” classes, Facial Exercises (Which is great for singers, and those who speak a lot day to day to help relieve tension in the face), and more!
For an explanation on each class, I will be recording a video that describes them and posting that on here soon! There is a video trailer of me singing and dancing that is currently available. Scott is a multi-talented singer-songwriter and actor from Seattle, WA and a graduate from “Boston Conservatory at Berklee School of Music." After finishing a seven month run of the Broadway Musical "Tarzan" for Disney at Tuacahn Amphitheater where he played the lead role as Tarzan for 3,000 people a night, Scott moved to Raleigh, NC to pursue his music career. Since being in Raleigh, Scott has had the chance to work with super producer Sam Harmonix along with several other incredibly talented local musicians and producers. Scott has also had the chance since his arrival to perform his original music on the runway at Charlotte Fashion Week, be apart of the cast of Gypsy at North Carolina Theatre, and perform his original music in downtown Raleigh at the Pour House Music Hall!

As a fully trained singer, actor, and dancer from the
#1 music school in the country “Boston Conservatory at Berklee School of Music” where Scott received his Bachelor of Performing Arts in Musical Theatre with an emphasis in songwriting, he surpasses the qualifications for teaching the craft more than the majority of people. Scott has worked closely with Tony award winning Broadway directors such as Liesl Tommy (Frozen Live, Broadway’s “Eclipsed”), Jason Michael Webb (Music arranger for “Frozen” and Music Director for Broadway’s “Color Purple”), and Glenn Casale (Broadway’s “Peter Pan”). Scott’s credits also include the original cast of Frozen Live (Disney Land), Rock of Ages (Norwegian Cruise Lines), Hunch Back of Notre Dame (Tuacahn Amphitheater), Peter Pan (Tuacahn Amphitheater), and Marius (Les Miserables). Scott is also a proud member of The Actor’s Equity Association (AEA).

When I started taking lessons with Scott, the only thing I really knew how to do was carry a tune. After a lesson a week for about 4 months, I've been picked to be a Semi-Finalist in a singing competition called So You Think You Can Belt in New York City, with one of the judges being a former producer from X factor (UK/US), has done consulting work for American Idol and America's Got Talent, and currently recruits for The Voice. Scott works miracles!

Scott is absolutely FABULOUS! He is everything you need in a vocal coach and more. I signed up for lessons with Scott to prep for some Broadway auditions. I'm a dancer who knows nothing about singing in an audition. Scott to the rescue! He helped me put together a songbook, taught me how to properly speak to the accompanist, and act out the lyrics I was singing. He has such a great background and knowledge in musical theater and it shows! Scott has a great personality and is so much fun to work with! 10 out of 5 stars!

I will teach you how to write chord progressions and melodies. As well as how to produce a song and take it from a simple acoustic solo piece to a full fleshed out band arrangement! You will learn basic music theory, lyric writing, and part writing. As well as the skills to write basic lead sheets so that others can play your songs with you!

I am a professional performing musician and educator in the Saint Louis area. I have a bachelors degree in Jazz Performance from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. My primary instrument is trumpet however I am a multi instrumentalist teaching piano, guitar and bass. I have learned so much music theory and songwriting from my time exploring multiple instruments that are harmonic, rhythmic, and melodic as well as my time studying theory intensively in high school and college.

My specialty is in Jazz/pop theory and arranging however, I am well versed in classical theory much akin to what you would learn in a university setting. Whether or not you are looking for tutoring for your music theory course in school, a classical musician looking to branch into jazz theory, or an aspiring songwriter looking to explore new sounds, I believe
I can aid in your music theory skills.

My method stresses the importance of ear training and recognition with sound, connecting what you hear with the theoretical concept in written form. I will teach you scales, how to make chords, voicing chords, voice leading from chord to chord, and how to use all of these skills while reading a lead sheet.

If you wish to expand your jazz skills and improvising, we will take all of the previously mentioned skills and learn how to improvise from the knowledge that we have of theory, returning to the ear to draw connections with what we hear and understanding how to recreate the sounds we hear.
