Hello everyone! I've been singing since the age of 3 and performing since the age of 6. I am not only an experienced music teacher with a passion for music and teaching, but an experienced performer, and songwriter. I started performing at a young age with the Columbia School of Theatrical Arts, and as I grew older I studied different techniques such as speech level singing, classical, and even techniques from Brett Manning, one of the most amazing vocal coaches today who teaches artists such as Haley Williams from Paramore. I have experience performing many styles of music, and also was a voice major in college. The students I teach will benefit from my contemporary techniques, and can learn to sing in almost any style of music they choose.

Do you want to learn how to sing your favorite song just like the artist?
I can teach you the techniques! Or how about how to make a cover song your own based off of your own unique voice? We can work together to find, develop, and build the amazing qualities that you have in your voice. I will not only work on aspects of what you would like to improve on with your voice personally, but I will make an individual plan for you that will dramatically improve your voice! I will work with you individually to strengthen any weakness you may have in a fun environment. I am fun, encouraging and motivating! When asking students to do any vocal exercises, I will explain what the certain exercise does to improve your voice so that you can have the knowledge you need to be a good vocalist, and not just know how to sing properly. You will learn many things in lessons and what I teach you will vary on where you are vocally.

Lynzi is a passionate and fun teacher that will give you all the tools you need to improve your vocal abilities! First she'll find your range and work out a warm-up routine, which she'll fine-tune as necessary, that will challenge you on different vowels, scales, jumps, crescendos/decrescendos, etc. She's also very helpful with body/jaw relaxation and breath support techniques that will help you develop your optimal tone and control. Charlie is a certified music teacher, who teaches in areas surrounding Wendell and travels to teach in the Raleigh, Zebulon and Knightdale areas. He teaches in his home in Wendell and travels to other areas on certain days. (See availability)

He first began teaching guitar and piano during his music studies at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, MS. At the university and after receiving his degree in music education, he has taught and performed in various musical settings and venues which has included the genres of classical, jazz, blues, rock, folk and country. Besides teaching and performing, Charlie also is a songwriter who writes songs for his groups performances and teaches his more advanced students songwriting.

Drawing upon his education and experiences as both performer and teacher, he strives to rel
ate his background to his student's learning experiences and progress. As each student comes with his or her individual musical wants and interests, student lessons are designed to meet these needs of a particular student. Charlie has young students of ages 5 to 14 as well as students of upper ages. According to a student's level of musicianship (beginner, advanced or in between), students are taught how to read music, music theory in relation to their progress, chords, scales and how to write/compose their own songs. He has designed a method of teaching which is full of great musical exercises & fun illustrations for the young student to enjoy while learning skills on their instrument.

For example, students can began with simple fingerings of chords & beginning melodies played in slow rhythms to allow the student to develop at a comfortable pace. Students that can not read music notation begin simple reading exercises of note recognition, time signatures, note values, eye hand coordination and more.

*** Lesson Details ***
I design student lessons according the age, playing level and music related interests as lessons can cover a broad range of interests and musical styles. For my beginning students- to develop their understanding of playing chords and rhythms,
I teach chords as they relate to musical keys and some common rhythm patterns used in many popular songs.

For guitar students, I have designed & developed my own materials for guitar (sheets & accompanying CD) which guide students in practicing chords progressions, strum/rhythm patterns & scales/melodies in relation to chords. My students have shown much success in these methods of concentrating on developing that essential sense & feel for playing different rhythm styles. Piano instruction is centered on learning to read music notation and music theory as it relates to the student's progress.

As students advance, more emphasis is placed on improvising on melodies, different approaches to soloing and chord extensions and substitutions. Also, students are taught music theory as it relates to their progress to enable them to create their own music.

I have a good selection of method books and materials to fit each student's level of musicianship and choice of playing style(s) to extend upon their interests and goals.

My approach to teaching is to make lessons fun and enjoyable in a comfortable and relaxed setting to allow the student full
concentration on each lesson. But, also to provide the necessary guidance and encouragement to challenge and motivate students to improve and develop natural strengths and new skills.

I have a good selection of materials (many I've developed), extra instruments if needed and recording equipment. The student will need the instrument and an amp for electric guitar.

I began piano lessons with Charlie as a total beginner and he quickly helped me find my footing. He was always patient and encouraging and asking questions designed to make sure the lessons were structured in a way that would most efficiently achieve my own personal goals. I'm usually a pretty nervous person, but Charlie has a warm presence that makes it easy even for people like me to be able to open up and focus on what's important, the music. I highly recommend him to anyone who's been thinking about learning the piano but hasn't quite been able to take the plunge yet.

My background includes ten years of classical training with Maestro Julio Berrocal, as well as vocal training through the Feldekrais approach with Marcy Lindhiemer. Voice
I am an empathetic teacher, sensitive to the students individual process of learning. My singing lessons usually start with breathing and relaxation exercises. Vocal exercise come next, then when the student is fully warmed up, we will begin to work on songs. It is important that the student be part of the process of picking material since the more they personally respond to the material the more apt they are to be engaged in their lessons and the more quickly they will learn. After three to six months they will understand the fundamentals of breathing and relaxation and its importance to proper vocal training. They will have begun the process of extending their range and will understand the principles of performance in song.
Acting
As an acting teacher and coach, I tailor my classes to the needs of each student. I utilize improvisatory and sensory techniques to help unleash spontaneity. I also encourage the students to use their personal experiences as a way to access a full range of emotions. I enjoy working with the student on script analysis, so as to discover the underlying motivations of the character the student is working on.
Creative and Lyric Writing
I use prompts as a way to get the student writing. Often, I will ask the student to write for stretches of time without editing themselves. It is important to unleash imagination before beginning the process of editing. Many times it is the unexpected that is the must compelling.

Steven B. is an exceptional piano teacher. He knows how to motivate and encourage a student, and is very accommodating with regard to a student's particular interests.
One of his most outstanding teaching features is that he has an entirely unique approach to ear training (playing by ear). He creates customized playing-by-ear, step-by-step, walk-through recordings--which he professionally produces in his home studio.
These recordings break down a piece in such a way which allows a student to learn how to recognize intervals, chords, chord inversions, melodic lines, and more.
I cannot emphasize enough the (often under-appreciated) value of such ear training for students at all levels.

Ryan L. is a local composer, conductor, musician and musicologist. He holds a Masters degree in Musicology from California State University, Long Beach Cole Conservatory of Music. He is a professor of music at Woodbury University where he teaches a course in Music and Film. Additionally he is also the music director for Conundrum Theatre Co., Burbank Community Theater and Santa Ana College where he auditions, and rehearses singers, and the contracts and conducts the orchestra in all musical performances for the community.

As a classical/jazz trumpet player he has performed with tournament of Roses Honor band, the Pasadena Pops Orchestra, the Crown City Symphony and in various musical theater productions. He performs regularly with his jazz band the Crown City Combo in various venues in the greater LA area.

composition Ryan is an avid composer, composing for various genres and ensembles. Among these genres Ryan’s specialty is composing new musical theater works/songwriting. I hold a Bachelor Degree in Music Composition and Theory from Pacific Lutheran University and a Masters Degree in Music Education from Boston University. I have taught through university level and am current Assistant Professor of Music at Pierce College, near Tacoma, Washington. I have been asked to do guest lecturing at Seattle University in the art of Film Score, where I have studied with an Emmy-winning composer.

Combined with her training and professional experience, Nicole teaches singers to switch gracefully between multiple styles. She practices what she preaches: one night she might be singing Beyoncé, and the next morning she might be singing Handel's Messiah!

Nicole has been a young artist for Cedar Rapids Opera Theatre, Metropolitan International Music Festival, and for Tiroler Opern Programm, under international instructors, including Elizabeth Bachman (from the Metropolitan Opera), Kim Josephson (Metropolitan Opera), Sharon Cheng (Caramoor),
Michael Fennely (Carnegie Hall), Wei-En Hsu (Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra), and Candace Evans (Santa Fe Opera). Nicole earned her Associates in Theatre from Brigham Young University ('12) and went on to acquire her BM in Vocal Performance from Illinois Wesleyan University ('14). Nicole obtained additional training from Boston University, Elon University, and the University of Alaska Anchorage.

Nicole is a very professional, dedicated and enthusiastic teacher. Not limited to Broadway singing, she's very knowledgeable about many different methods of singing and can teach various techniques based on how you want to showcase your voice. She's extremely caring and makes sure her students can take something from her lesson each time. Wish I could give her 10 stars!!!

Paola graduated from the acclaimed Frost School of Music at the University of Miami. Since then, she has released her debut EP titled 'Lluvia' which is available on all digital platforms. She has worked with artists such as Gloria and Emilio Estefan, Raquel Sofia, Natalia LaFourcade, and more.

She is currently on a full scholarship at Frost, pursuing her masters degree in Arts Management and acting as the Teaching Assistant for the Contemporary Music program.

Her ability to write in both English and Spanish is extremely impressive, and I have seen a lot of growth in my songwriting skills since I began working with her! Paola is a great teacher. I tend to write in English, but we worked together on a Spanish language song a few weeks ago. Paola was able to help me expand on my ideas, and clean the song up in general. She also explained nuances of Spanish grammar and vocabulary in a way that made them easy to apply to the song. Overall, great working with her!
