Charles has been great with my early skill development. He continues every week to stress the basic for my violin training. He remains supportive and patient. We have had lessons in person and online. I am beginner at 65 years old and I would highly recommend Charles Bossert as a violin, and other strings instruments instructor. Thank You Charles for your help.

I teach flute lessons in the heart of Mount Vernon, just a few blocks away from the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, Maryland. With four years of teaching experience and a wealth of creative knowledge gained from my time at Oberlin College and Conservatory, my teaching caters to every age and ability. In addition to studying at Oberlin (and now Peabody) I grew up in a very musical household, and have two younger siblings.
I love working with all types of students, whether they’re preparing for college auditions, just beginning the flute, or only looking to play for fun, and I also have experience with students with special needs. Please contact me through this website if you would like lessons, and I will respond within a day!

My goal as a voice teacher is to create a positive environment in my studio where my students can reach all of the goals that they set out to achieve.  It is important for my students to feel a warm, welcoming atmosphere, where they can make mistakes, take risks, and ask questions. The art of singing is a whole-body experience and it is essential for students to train and practice like an athlete would train for a high-level event.  I encourage my students to do some sort of physical activity that has an emphasis on the abdominal muscles (i.e. yoga, pilates, tai chi, weight routine), so that they feel what it is like to use the whole body as well as strengthen their core muscles. This directly relates to an appoggio based breath support, which is the technique I utilize in my own singing and in my studio.  I teach my students to use their entire body when they sing. I believe that students should practice physicality with gestures, so they can get connected to their whole body and ...

Jamie is patient, encouraging, and helps you learn detailed techniques to make your voice sound better, as well as have lasting notes.

Jamie is a natural teacher of her craft! Her ability to quickly assess and adapt lessons to my daughters’ personalities and preferences of music, as well as her incredibly positive and encouraging demeanor, has made taking voice lessons a great learning experience for both of them. She is very dedicated to finding ways that work for each student to understand how to use their voice and find their breath, and even given the current circumstances of having lessons via FaceTime because of social distancing, the quality and level of expertise of her lessons have not faltered in the least. We are fans!
Marie
Jamie's approachable and friendly personality is reflected in her teaching style - she is not afraid to have you try various unconventional techniques that turn out to be super effective and fun! In the year I've been taking lessons with her, my breath support, technique, and vocal range have all improved significantly - so much so that a high note that I found strenuous a year ago is now almost within my comfort range! She is very receptive to different styles of music, and her suggestions are always challenging, fun, and geared towards developing your voice.

Richard is so patient and knowledgeable. I am very happy with our lessons. Because of my background with classical guitar he wondered if the fact that he doesn't read music and I am renewing my mind back into it would not be a good teaching set-up. Not at all. I now have an electric guitar and the five years spent playing classical, now fifteen years ago, did not give me a good foundation for understanding music theory unfortunately. I have a genre I had already picked out fingerstyle electric and now with some thinking my way through the basics I did have I still need to learn just basic strumming etc. I understand what he is referring to in music so we still speak in the same key. Also and lastly my daughter has a severe seizure/dementia disorder that is very unpredictable and our caregiver's mom just passed away so there will be times when I just can't do a week/day. He has been very understanding. I am smiling from my soul because music is my healing path for difficult stuff I couldn't pay any doctor/therapist to even call me back for. Thank you so much for your assistance. Sincerely Teresa

"Andrew is an extremely talented teacher. He's very patient and he doesn't just hear my daughter, he listens. Not only to what she plays but to what she says; I think this is why she has made such tremendous progress. I was not sure how the online lessons would work but they have not skipped a beat and if anything the online sessions are more productive. If you want a talented instructor that actually cares and will take you to the next level, look no further than Andrew!"

"Morgan started teaching my daughter beginner piano back in 2016 when she was 5 years old. A funny thing happened about a year into lessons. My wife and I had taken a video of our daughter playing the piano and we showed it to some friends. Turns out these friends know someone on the board of the Juilliard School, and when this person saw the video they reached out to my wife and I and said that they were going to recommend our daughter to a colleague of theirs at the Colburn School here in Los Angeles. So now my daughter is enrolled in a world-class performing arts school lol. Granted, my daughter is very enthusiastic about music and she puts the time in, but Morgan steers the ship in a great way. We're super grateful for this dude."

"I had taken lessons locally for several months and was very frustrated. I was given a color coded sticker and sheet music to get me playing fast however I actually wanted to learn to read and understand music.

On a lark I found Stephanie on the takelessons site. We scheduled a call where I explained my experience, frustrations, and what I wanted to accomplish. I honestly did not think online classes would work. Was I wrong!! It takes great skill in verbally correcting bow holds, etc. and Stephanie is terrific. Before I was told to practice but I never knew HOW to. Stephanie assigns specific tasks, # of time to repeat, and duration for homework. She is so friendly and easy to work with. I would recommend her for any age or skill level??"
