Hi, I am a multi-international prize winner and a dedicated teacher. A piano performance graduate of Manhattan School of Music and University of Illinois, I have collaborated as soloist with major orchestras in China, USA, Europe and South America for fifteen years.

In the summer of 2006, I made my critically acclaimed European debut at the International Piano Festivals held in Spain and Canary Islands. In 2008, I was selected by famous New York critics David Dubal to perform in his lecture concert series, live broadcast on WQXR. From October of 2008 to July 2009, I won five international competition awards around globe, which led me to several concert tours in the following years. In August of 2009, I participated in the prestigious George Enescu International Music Festival in Bucharest. In May of 2010, I participated in the Gilmor
e Keyboard Festival Masterclass in Kalamazoo. That year also marked my recital and concerto debut in Panama and Colombia as well as in Krannert Center of Performing Arts in Illinois. In 2012, I made my solo recital debut at Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert Series in Chicago. Besides my frequent solo appearances,I have been an active collaborative chamber musician.I have performed a number of chamber music concerts with many instrumentalists around the world, highlighting a tour with a string quartet around the Netherlands in August, 2007, after having received two-week-long coaching with Menahem Pressler and Shumel Ashkenasi.

Along with my performing career, I have been teaching young piano students since I was eighteen. I have experience teaching all age-group in masterclasses and private lessons.

I love teaching all age-group piano students! I find teaching is rewarding when a student is making progress, learning effectively and having fun with music. My teaching style and lesson focus will be unique for each individual person, and I'm very flexible in adapting to each student's needs and personality. My specialty is to discover and make each student find their own technique and sound on piano.

Magic piano teacher

I have known Jingjing personally through his performances for five years and recently my 6-year old son started having lessons with him. At first, my son wasn't really be able to sit tight for 10 minutes but after a few lessons, he could concentrate for 25-30 minutes. Jingjing's lessons are magical! And my son enjoys the lessons now. He already played a few folk songs and was encouraged to compose his own music at the piano. I really appreciate Jingjing's effort!

Great mentor!

I've worked with JINGJING WANG for 3 years and he's been always reliable, patient and creative. He taught me many different ways to practice and it was such an incredible experience. Now I am a piano teacher myself and I will keep learning from him.

About Carolyn
Coming from a large extended family in Hawaii, I was surrounded by luau music, kachi-kachi dancing, Japanese bon dances, handsome local guys singing and playing their guitars and my aunties strumming their ukes and singing old songs. I reveled in walking alone in Nature or playing piano and singing in empty, stain-glassed churches – just wailing in the dark and colored light!

I studied: classical piano, organ, oboe, clarinet, violin, voice, and guitar. I sang in jazz trios and pop bands, earned income as a church organist/choir accompanist, and spent 15 years teaching private piano lessons to students of all ages.
I studied drawing and painting, I drew trees, animals, the ocean, sky and mountains, still life, and the people around me.

Upon arriving in New York City, I entered into a journey of playing at a Washington Heights gos
pel church, living in a building filled with musicians, accompanying vocal master classes, studying Sanskrit, Indian raga, world percussion, creative arts therapy and performance wellness.

I now compose and sing my songs - interweaving voice with keyboard or guitar. Besides teaching privately, I can be found performing my songs in clubs, outdoor festivals, coffee houses, and poetry/healing events. I currently attended a certificate program in sound & music healing and the focus of my music rests here. I incorporate many techniques to aid students in relaxation, breath awareness, and de-stressing.

One day, I decided to learn ukulele by myself but I became quickly stuck. I found Carolyn on this website and then went to her place to take my first lesson. Carolyn is super sweet; very welcoming, smiling, fun to work with. She is very positive and gives great feedbacks all the time! I learnt a lot during our session!! At some point, we sat at her piano to talk about notes and keys: it was very interesting to switch to another instrument. In addition, her place has very harmonious vibes: when I left I felt so much better!!! I definitely recommend Carolyn for music lessons! And I look forward to our next ukulele lesson!

I teach out of the Alfred's Piano course, but am open to trying out any music books you may already have in your home. I do expect my students to purchase the books they would like to learn out of and to have the material I have given them for homework ready, completed, and practiced by the time we have our weekly lesson. I recommend at least twenty to thirty minutes of practice every day, and will give rewards for having practiced well, and for performing well in our lessons. I would love it for my students to be clear on what they would like to learn, and I love using songs that the student enjoys to make his or her music learning process fun.

My name is Ronald S. At the age of 9, I started playing the guitar for my Father's Gospel Group who is a great Gospel D.J. (Big Clyde). Through the years I have taken several guitar courses from several instructors. In the last seven months I have taken instructions from Mr. Christian, I have excelled further and have learned more than all my other adventures.

Micheal's business based environment in an open studio type classroom is a must. In Micheal's unique style of teaching you not only learn to play the guitar, but he also instructs you in song with a spirit of being well satisfied.

As shoppers pass through the store they enjoy the sounds of students playing their guitars following the guidance of Mr. Christian. This also gives his students a chance to perform in front of other people giving them a finer definitions for the art of music. In April of this year, I retained Michael to instruct my 13 year old daughter, Jennifer, in guitar lessons. I was quite impressed with Mr. Michael right from the beginning.

Since I knew nothing about guitars, I had no idea what type of guitar to purchase for Jennifer. Mr. Christian offered on his own time to go with us to help in the purchase of the guitar. He kept in mind what we could afford and the quality of the guitars, it was very reassuring to know that he was looking out for our welfare and to be able trust him.

I am very impressed with the progress Jennifer has made in playing the guitar. She looked forward to her lessons with Mike. She looked forward to her lessons with Mike. He made the lessons interesting and "fun". Mike not only taught her to play the guitar but also how to read music and understand it.

Mike is a very kind, moral, talented young man and I recommend him highly. We are sorry to see him leave, however, our loss is your gain.

Having attended Westminster Choir College and taken music theory based classes in highschool, I have had experience with everything from basic theory to music analysis to ear training and more. I have taken practical theory classes and music history/world music classes which have contributed to my understanding of the patterns in and characteristics of a wide variety of musical genres. At Drexel University, as a music therapy masters student, I was expected to improvise and transpose at a moments notice. About me!

I am a Westminster Choir College '11 Alum  who graduated with a Bachelor's of Arts in Music, summa cum laude. I also have my master's degree in music therapy from Drexel University. I am also a Member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing and a  Board Certified Music Therapist. During my time at school I performed at Carnegie Hall and the Kimmel Center, and did music therapy work with older adults, as well as disadvantaged children and parents.

I also have my own parent/child music class I host every Thursday September-May. It's never to early to start a music education!

I have been teaching for over four years and now have a studio of more than 70 happy students. Teaching music is my passion, and I love seeing students grow!

I often draw upon my experience from my master's degree in music therapy, which taught me that music can have a profound effect on the human brain and upon cognitive development.  My skills as a music therapist allow me to better understand a student's cognitive strengths and areas for improvement, and to develop individualized teaching strategies which utilize student strengths.

Andrew is a dynamic educator with years of experience teaching students of all ages. He recently graduated from the prestigious Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, where he studied classical percussion, jazz, and Afro-Cuban music. To the extent of what I learned in my experience, Andrew is a great percussion teacher for students looking to join a band or marching band. He obviously had a great amount of knowledge and experience with the instrument itself but also the teaching of it. By the end of the first lesson we had already moved to patterns with 8 strikes on each hand and was presented with an arsenal of other exercises for afterwards to find a rate of improvement when given time. He is a very patient teacher and is sensitive to mistakes and which ones to focus on. I could safely recommend him to any of my friends who are also into percussion, and can speak from experience that any nervousness of getting a new teacher quickly dissolves after the first lesson. Great teacher.

I thought as a theatre teacher that I didn't have much more to learn. I was wrong. Vandi has given me the confidence to sing. Hi, I am a native New Yorker and a guitar player since age 13. I played in blues/rock bands throughout my teens, getting to play the legendary clubs of my Greenwich Village neighborhood. My discovery of Spanish classical guitar music occurred in college at UC Berkeley, and I graduated with a BA in Music, then spent two years playing in Europe, before returning home and forming the band Not Heaven; we played the club circuit, Danceteria to CBGB.

I also began teaching at the American Institute of Guitar in NYC, and writing guitar instruction books (still in print!). Along the way I did a Master’s in Guitar Performance at Stony Brook, and have continued to publish, perform and teach the music which inspires me.

Classical and Flamenco music are my primary involvement, as a teacher, performer and composer.
