Learn your way with an instructor who puts student needs first. I have a Doctor of Music Arts degree in Saxophone Performance and 7 years of teaching experience working with beginners in 5th/6th grade through college music majors. As a performer, I play classical recitals, big band swing dance gigs, festivals, and more. As a teacher, I focus on what the student wants to learn - anything from basic foundation skills; scales and technique; theory; improvisation; and relevant repertoire. I place an emphasis on relaxation and removal of tension from the body which will dramatically improve the student's playing abilities.

About Dr. Nick

Hello! If you would like to learn music, challenge your abilities, and express yourself by connecting with your inner artist, I can be your guide. If you want to get over the anxiety of playing music in front of others, I can help you transform that tension into confidence. Dr. Nick S. is a native

Hey there! I'm a multi-instrumentalist with a strong foundation in Guitar, Bass, and Drums.

My lessons are curated behind a few things:
-the understanding of music theory (scales, chord progressions, rhythmic structure, song composition etc.)
-student's requests to learn specific songs and creating original song
-having FUN!

Because in my experience, you're not learning if you're not enjoying what you're doing.

After 6 years, of playing drums, I began my time as a guitar player. I grew as a guitar player tremendously fast because of my understanding and practice of rhythm. I began as an acoustic/folk guitarist, progressed into a blues/funk guitarist, and now play mainly jazz and neo-soul. I also am accustomed to teach many other genres. I now write, produce, and perform my own music and stream online.

When you take lessons with me you can expect that the lessons will increase your music theory knowledge, finger/hand dexterity, rhythm, ear training, performance ...

About Kevin

I am a Multi-Instrumentalist who teaches Guitar, Drums, Bass, Music Production, Audio Engineering, Cinematography, Photography, and Video Editing. My instrumental experience includes 13 years of live performance, recording and songwriting. I focus my lessons around the understanding of music the

I have learned so much in just a few short lessons with Kevin. He is a great teacher, and a great musician. We explored so much more than I anticipated and he put me on the right track to teach myself more on my on time, which I am very grateful for. You will learn a LOT from Kevin!!

Great lesson, I leaned so much from Kevin! He has so much patience and is really good with giving tips and tricks.

Highly recommend Kevin! Just started drums and did 2 months of lessons with him at his in-home studio. Really cool set up, and he listens to what you’re interested in learning, while also recommending what to practice during the week between lessons. Also had a few jam sessions with him which were awesome!
Super chill guy, and I’m sure he’s great for every skill level and age. Thanks Kevin, will be back soon for follow up sessions!

When my son was 11, he decided to take piano lessons. Mr Montavo, asked him why he chose that instrument and proceeded to have a conversation about the importance of practicing and not giving up. He is an amazing pianist and has a good knowledge of how to help kids succeed and grow as a musician. He helps with educating the parents on what kind of keyboard, piano, and music is best for your child
