*** Studio Equipment ***
Lessons in the basement studio, piano, guitars, amps, hand drums, a bass, woodwinds, FULL DRUM SET!

*** Travel Equipment ***

I have Alto and Tenor Saxophones, and can teach you to play and read, improvise, and how to make it sing

About Scott
Hi! I'm Scott. I perform with a one-man band setup I created which utilizes a modified guitar and home-made foot pedals to control a drum set, while I sing on top of it all. I have a recording studio at home, and have performed with bands as a singer, guitarist, saxophonist, bassist, percussionist, and as a sound engineer. I've written, performed and recorded my own album which made it to the 2nd round of the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards, and was a voting member of the Philadelphia Chapter of the Grammy Committee and NARAS (National Association or the Recording Arts and Sciences.) I started piano lessons from age 5 and just kept picking up more instruments and gear as I got older and never stopped learning or enjoying it!

*** Lesson Details ***
I have been teaching Guitars, Basses, Percussion, Piano, Saxophone, Music Production, Re
cording, and Live Sound for 16 years.

I can teach you note-reading, tabs, ear training, music theory, composition, improvisation in just about any style of music.

Working with people writing songs is something I enjoy thoroughly; I can help you write and record your own songs. A computer and internet access are preferred to take full advantage of the technology for learning and producing music.

Knowledgeable in Instrument repair, set-up, and maintenance, I can help you fix it, and how to spot a good instrument.

Patient and experienced, with a broad knowledge of music in most areas, I can give you hundreds of good references from previous students I've taught over the years

*** Studio Equipment ***

Guitars, basses, percussion and drum sets, a piano, saxophones, hand drums, a 20-track digital recording studio with monitors that are equalized to the room's acoustics for accurate listening and mixing, plus an assortment of microphones, amps, mic stands, cables, and connectors.

I currently teach alto and tenor saxophone at the New School for Leadership and the Arts, but I have many years' experience teaching music to students of all ages. I teach to the abilities, passions, and ambitions of the student(s).

About Gio
I studied music at UCF (Orlando), focusing on classical and jazz guitar, but I also have years of experience playing rock, blues, folk, hip-hop, and musical theater on both guitar and drums.

I have been teaching guitar, drums, and piano for about eight years to students of all ages. Music is what I'm passionate about and it's what I enjoy. I want to inspire that same passion into the hearts and minds of others.

*** Lesson Details ***
I am a laid-back teacher, fun, and I focus on the needs, abilities, and ambitions of the student. In turn, students must realize that learning an instrument takes a lot of work and dedication. One can't expect to learn very much if s/he only practices or thinks about the instrument during the lesson. If the student is willing to put some time into practicing, then I will help them go far!

*** Studi
o Equipment ***
I have several guitars, a drum kit, djembe, mandolin, clarinet and full-size keyboard.

I've been teaching saxophone for about 6 years on and off. I will work with students to develop a good tone, technique-through scales and etudes, and rhythmic internalization by incorporating drum tracks and metronome throughout the lesson. My philosophy is make music fun but also make it so my students have fun putting the work in to get to be a better musician. My style varies from student to student depending on their specific needs but I will always bring energy and fun to all my lessons.

About Sarah
Hi, I'm a 25 year old saxophonist attending UMSL. I went to Berklee College of Music on a full scholarship. I specialize in fundamentals, like technique, building a solid sound, and music theory. I also specialize in higher level playing such as jazz and improvising. I've been teaching lessons since I was a sophomore in high school. I have studied with the very best (Jim Odgren, Dino Govoni, Mike Lee, John Wojciechowski, Bob Mintzer, Marcus Strickland, to name a few). My teaching style is friendly and energetic; I want students to be excited about playing saxophone. It's my passion and I look forward to letting my students find their passion for music as well. I also work at a saxophone shop where I test out horns and mouthpieces and work with social media and sales.

My prices are negotiable! if you are having financial troubles I am
glad to make a payment plan or lessen my costs.

Sarah is very easy to work with, always interested in helping you the student have fun with the sax, as she has. Despite her great experience and background (or because of it?) she never seemed bored or working beneath herself with a beginner. I could say more, but I better take this time to practice!

My goal in teaching is to make my students not just good saxophonists, but better musicians in every aspect. I like to discuss the music with students, get them to think about the music in new and interesting ways, teach how to practice and philosophies for approaching musical styles, and the theory behind the music. Students can expect all of this and more while having fun and being able to express themselves through the music they want to play.

Students are expected to have their own saxophone for all lessons.

About Eddie
Hello there, I'm Eddie! Music, since the first time I picked up the saxophone, has been the passion of my life. I almost always have an instrument in my hands or have music coming out of my speakers. I earned my degree in performance from the University of Miami in 2012 and have 1 year of experience teaching. As part of my undergraduate studies, I became proficient in all saxophones including alto, tenor, soprano and bari. In addition to that, I have also become well versed in the piano, guitar, flute, and clarinet. Music is my passion and I want to bring this same passion to any student I teach.

I believe in getting students playing music they love as soon as possible. I have 9 years of teaching experience, as well as a masters degree in music education from Northwestern University. In that time I have learned how to teach important technique and ear training through playing fun and engaging pieces of music in a variety of styles, from classical to jazz, funk, RnB, ska, and more. Music is a fun, practical subject, and it should be taught that way.

About Laurie
I have 9 years of teaching experience as a private teacher, a classroom music teacher, and a band director. I employ many different styles and methods while teaching, to ensure my students receive a well rounded music education, but also have fun. I love to use backing tracks, and I like to teach technique and important fundamentals through playing pieces of music in the styles my students love, while also introducing them to new styles and new pieces. I love music and what it does for the world, and I pass that love and passion on to my students. I am positive and encouraging, while still providing specific and structured feedback to students. I studied classical clarinet during my Bachelors of Music Education at the University of Illinois, taught as a high school band director, and went on to received a Master's in Music Education with
a jazz emphasis while playing jazz saxophone at Northwestern University. I have spent the last 4 years teaching at a British International School in China, and performing in orchestras, funk bands, and more around Beijing. This has given me the experience and knowledge base to teach students of all ages and backgrounds, as well as to teach many different instruments across a wide range of styles, including: clarinet, flute, saxophone, oboe, bassoon, trumpet, trombone, euphonium, tuba, beginning piano, and rock bands.

I have been working with Eric for the past 10 years. He has helped my Downey HS Jazz Program tremendously through his method of teaching jazz improvisation. Eric made my job a lot easier, having students understanding the art of creating something out of nothing! As it is very frightening for young musicians to improvise, Eric developed a sense of confidence in our students when it comes to it. I can’t thank him enough for what he does every week

I have been playing the Saxophone for 17 years, played at Bard College, participated in a jazz band, competed at NYSSMA 4 times, and received a perfect score for every performance. Currently I have been teaching a 10 year old how to play, so I am experienced with beginners and intermediate levels. I like to make my lessons fun yet challenging, I encourage and push my students to be the best possible musicians. I play along with every one of my students, and enjoy it just as much as them.

About Cory
Hello there!

I have been playing the saxophone for 17 years now. I have competed in saxophone competitions, was apart of a jazz band all through high school, was apart of the school's marching band, and participated in NYSSMA 4 years in a row and received a perfect score every year.

I still play my saxophone almost everyday! I cherish the joy it brings to others around me when I play. Growing up I would practice the saxophone for so many hours that it was only natural that my little brother picked up the saxophone as he enters middle school. Over the past four years he has received personal one-on-one lessons from me. Since my teaching structure was based around a fun environment, many of his classmates and friends requested lessons from me which I happily agreed to.

I look forward to working with students that want to start their lif
elong enjoyment with the saxophone!
