About Alexander
My name is Alex, and my passion is teaching music. I offer clients a unique learning experience with customized lesson plans and personalized attention to fit your exact goals and needs. These aren’t just words to me…they are a commitment I make to everyone that I have the pleasure of working with.

Here’s who I am…

I earned a Bachelor's of Music from Berklee College of Music where I studied Bass Performance and Composition. I have years of experience playing upright and electric bass in many styles such as rock, jazz, orchestral, and big band. I’ve studied a variety of instruments over the last 20 years including guitar, bass, drums, ukulele, and piano.

Here’s what I can do for you…

I will give you my full attention and unyielding patience with each and every lesson. Together we will explore the principals of music that
will enable you to learn to play in any style you choose to study. Ultimately my job is not to teach you to play, but to show you how to teach yourself. I will arm you with a thorough understanding of technique and theory.

I love working with kids and adults. I love brand new players with no experience as well as seasoned players who just want to fill in some gaps in their knowledge. Whatever your age, and wherever you’re at with your playing, I hope you will give me the chance to help you have more fun and confidence in music.

Every player I work with gets access to a personal online Lesson Journal where you can see my notes from our lessons, do homework from your “Stuff to work on” lists, and access my entire digital library! Every lesson is designed just for you.

Let’s get started…

You can take lessons at my studio, in your home, or online via Skype.

For lessons in my studio, I can provide instruments and amplifiers for both of us.

There is ample seating for parents to sit in on lessons. Parking is available in the driveway.

You’re going to love your lessons!

Students are taught sight reading of music, chords and strum/rhythm patterns and music theory as it relates to their progress.

About Charles
Charlie is a certified music teacher, who teaches in areas surrounding Wendell and travels to teach in the Raleigh, Zebulon and Knightdale areas. He teaches in his home in Wendell and travels to other areas on certain days. (See availability)

He first began teaching guitar and piano during his music studies at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, MS. At the university and after receiving his degree in music education, he has taught and performed in various musical settings and venues which has included the genres of classical, jazz, blues, rock, folk and country. Besides teaching and performing, Charlie also is a songwriter who writes songs for his groups performances and teaches his more advanced students songwriting.

Drawing upon his education and experiences as both performer and teacher, he strives to rel
ate his background to his student's learning experiences and progress. As each student comes with his or her individual musical wants and interests, student lessons are designed to meet these needs of a particular student. Charlie has young students of ages 5 to 14 as well as students of upper ages. According to a student's level of musicianship (beginner, advanced or in between), students are taught how to read music, music theory in relation to their progress, chords, scales and how to write/compose their own songs. He has designed a method of teaching which is full of great musical exercises & fun illustrations for the young student to enjoy while learning skills on their instrument.

For example, students can began with simple fingerings of chords & beginning melodies played in slow rhythms to allow the student to develop at a comfortable pace. Students that can not read music notation begin simple reading exercises of note recognition, time signatures, note values, eye hand coordination and more.

*** Lesson Details ***
I design student lessons according the age, playing level and music related interests as lessons can cover a broad range of interests and musical styles. For my beginning students- to develop their understanding of playing chords and rhythms,
I teach chords as they relate to musical keys and some common rhythm patterns used in many popular songs.

For guitar students, I have designed & developed my own materials for guitar (sheets & accompanying CD) which guide students in practicing chords progressions, strum/rhythm patterns & scales/melodies in relation to chords. My students have shown much success in these methods of concentrating on developing that essential sense & feel for playing different rhythm styles. Piano instruction is centered on learning to read music notation and music theory as it relates to the student's progress.

As students advance, more emphasis is placed on improvising on melodies, different approaches to soloing and chord extensions and substitutions. Also, students are taught music theory as it relates to their progress to enable them to create their own music.

I have a good selection of method books and materials to fit each student's level of musicianship and choice of playing style(s) to extend upon their interests and goals.

My approach to teaching is to make lessons fun and enjoyable in a comfortable and relaxed setting to allow the student full
concentration on each lesson. But, also to provide the necessary guidance and encouragement to challenge and motivate students to improve and develop natural strengths and new skills.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I have a good selection of materials (many I've developed), extra instruments if needed and recording equipment. The student will need the instrument and an amp for electric guitar.

*** Specialties ***
Teach theory as relates to students progress- examples, chords as relate to major scales, understanding of I IV V chords
in popular music genres, develop knowledge of chords & rhythmic sense before learning songs. I teach in styles of blues,
rock. jazz, country and classical.

I began piano lessons with Charlie as a total beginner and he quickly helped me find my footing. He was always patient and encouraging and asking questions designed to make sure the lessons were structured in a way that would most efficiently achieve my own personal goals. I'm usually a pretty nervous person, but Charlie has a warm presence that makes it easy even for people like me to be able to open up and focus on what's important, the music. I highly recommend him to anyone who's been thinking about learning the piano but hasn't quite been able to take the plunge yet.

About David R.

Close

Student can learn strumming techniques, accompanying, finger-style techniques, popular and classical solo arrangements.

About David
David discovered his love for music early on at the age of seven with the musical/movie: The Sound of Music. He and his siblings would entertain their babysitter by acting out the entire musical - singing and dancing along with the soundtrack. To make it even more fun, they would sometimes speed up the vinyl record and perform in extra-fast mode!

He vividly remembers his first real musical instruction back in elementary school:
“Everyone in 4th Grade was given a Recorder to learn how to play 'Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star'. When the music teacher had the class play together, she noticed that I wasn't looking down at my music booklet as I played, since I was 'playing by ear'. Not only was my booklet turned to the wrong page; it was upside down as well! To admonish me, she had me stand up in front of the whole class and play
solo - as she held the booklet in front of me. Enthusiastically, I rendered the complete song correctly, only pretending to read from the page as she held it, but actually 'playing by ear'. Upon getting to the end of the tune, I suddenly broke out in a jazzed-up, improvised version of 'Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star', arousing the whole class to spontaneously tap their feet in rhythm and clap with delight . . . my first solo performance!”

David eventually took up guitar in his teens, becoming involved with playing for musicals such as "Godspell" and "Jesus Christ Superstar". During high school, he also played in the Bluegrass band 'Odell & Zeke', and in the Rock band 'Ring Wraith', performing for local dances and proms.

Extremely versatile within classical and popular guitar styles, David played in the Top-40-Hit music video, Shine Shine, by The Bee Gees' Barry Gibb – alongside pop-star legend - Michael Jackson. David is also mentioned in Just Jazz Guitar Magazine for his jazz endeavors; and he has years of experience as a church music director.

As a Classical concert guitarist, David has performed throughout the USA and Europe. His live performances have been broadcast on television and radio: NPR’s Performance Today (USA); CBC’s Arts National (Canada); RAI Television’s In Concerto (Italy), and the Hungarian National Television. Successful in competitions, David won First Prize in the 20th International Guitar Competition in Milan, Italy and First Prize in the National Wurlitzer Artist Competition, USA. He has received other awards and grants as well, including a Solo Recitalist Grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Governor's Award from Department of State, Florida. Moreover, he was chosen for the rosters of both the California State Touring Program and the North Carolina Visiting Artists Program.

David’s 35 years of teaching and performing experience, coupled with intensive years of formal studies with many of the world's greatest guitarists, including Andres Segovia, Eliot Fisk, David Russell, Christopher Parkening, Holzman, Ghiglia, Morgen, Tomas, Isbin - have afforded him a rich and in-depth understanding of music and the guitar. He shares all of this with his students in an insightful and uniquely original manner.

David was very knowledgeable about music and made it easy to understand. This was especially important to me since I am starting new, not having any musical background other than a love for music and a passion to play. This instructor helped me realize I have potential which is also important. After just one lesson I was able to take what he taught me and put some of his advice together musically and it is starting to make sense. I am looking forward to my future lessons!

With Ukulele lessons the main goal is to create a student-teacher environment where we can have fun and learn simultaneously. The Ukulele is an inherently joyful instrument that can bring a smile to anyones face, and through lessons we will learn to harness this incredible power!
Lessons will consist of learning basic chords and singing songs! We will eventually progress to more harmonically complex chords as well as learning beginning and advanced music theory in the process.
We will learn music ranging form early American folk and blues to pop and jazz standards. I also like to focus on writing original songs on the Ukulele as well as any other personal musical goals students wish to achieve.

About Cameron
Cameron began playing guitar at the age of 14, as a kid who found great Inspiration in classic rock music, idolizing such groups as Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, The Beatles, and many more. This was only the beginning of a life long intimate relationship with music and guitar playing. Since his first introduction to the guitar he quickly grew, establishing a love for blues and all of its incarnations, from Chicago Blues to the varying acoustic and electric styles found in New Orleans, Mississippi, and South Carolina among other places.
Through high school Cameron played in rock and blues bands writing original music and getting his first real experiences as a composer and a bandleader. High School was also the place where Cameron discovered his interest in Jazz music as he began playing guitar in the school's Jazz band. Following hi
gh school Cameron began playing more jazz music as he attended Bellevue College studying theory and composition with Dr. Brian Cobb and guitar performance with Mark Hillard Wilson. After this he soon met renowned Jazz Guitarist Chris Spencer, with whom he studied with for years to follow.
Cameron eventually found himself at Cornish College of the Arts where he received a Bachelors degree in Music Composition. While at Cornish he had the opportunity to play guitar and compose for Jazz Orchestras, Latin Jazz ensembles, and Modern Jazz groups while playing under the direction of internationally know musicians such as Wayne Horvitz, Tom Varner, Jovino Santos Neto and Chuck Deardorf.
In the realm of composition Cameron studied privately with composers Jarrad Powell and Tom Baker, with a deep focus in contemporary classical music. He is now the composer for the quickly rising interdisciplinary arts group the Pendleton House.
Currently Cameron spends his time working as a guitar player in Seattle while also writing chamber music for various ensembles and art groups. He performs on a regular basis with a variety of groups in the Seattle area including the Seattle based jazz trio Honeysuckle Rye, folk and bluegrass group Modern Bygones, as well as the orchestral pop band Sebastian and the Deep Blue.

*** Lesson Details ***
In the world of music education it is important to recognize that everyone learns differently and there is no universally prescribed teaching method that works for all students. Everyone must find how he or she learns best. As a teacher I acknowledge this and incorporate it into my method of instruction. Anyone can find success as a proficient instrumentalist if they are able to learn on there own terms and find what they are doing enjoyable.
Lessons will start with an assessment of what the student wants to learn and what their goals are. From there, we will determine the proper approach to meet those goals while keeping things fun and interesting. Once a particular skill level and interest are established I will develop an individualized lesson plan for the student to fit their wants and needs. The goal with beginning students is to get them up and running right away with chords and melodies, learning the fundamentals while being able to play their favorite songs. For all students I like to extensively focus on knowledge of the fret board and the many possible approaches to mastering it, as well as looking at creative practice methods and daily routines. A musician’s method of practicing can greatly determine their rate of improvement. For more intermediate and advanced students the general focus will shift to topics such as ear training, rhythm, music theory and music notation (if desired) and, their application to the guitar.
For students interested in composition, we will focus more on analysis and the application of theory. We will look at songs or pieces that are of interest to the student and take them apart to figure out what makes them great. We will also look at many different kinds of music and their construction. A large part of music composition in the 21st century is the integration of electronic and computer music. For students looking for an introduction into pre-recorded and live electronic music with or without the use of guitar or other instruments, this is strength of mine that I love to teach.
Whether you are a serious musician or just looking for a fun hobby, I can get you where you want to be in your musical life. I’m fun, friendly and music is my passion and profession and I love to share it.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can bring extra guitars if needed, acoustic or electric.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in getting beginners up and running right away while helping each guitarist to find there own voice and have fun at the same time! When playing non-original music I specialize in blues, jazz and popular music.

I've been teaching Ukulele on and off for 10 years and my students have gone on to accomplish great success by becoming proficient enough to play in different musical groups. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to play some basic chords to get you playing the music you love right away!

All you will need to get started is a Ukulele and a passion to learn. I can't wait to meet you and teach you! Once you sign up, I will let you know which instructional book to purchase.

About Debbie
Introduction:

Debbie is available for lessons in her home studio in Potterstone Village, Pittsboro. Music is a lifelong gift that Debbie is so excited to share with you and help you accomplish all your musical dreams and goals. She especially loves to work with children and adults with ADD and ADHD because she knows personally how music can positively impact and benefit the brain of one diagnosed with those conditions. In fact, ADD and ADHD are conditions that are viewed as a benefit when learning music, and strengthens your ability to learn and play an instrument. And conversely, learning a musical instrument actually increases your ability to focus and concentrate, translating to all other areas of your life as well.

Debbie has been playing guitar, ukulele, and clarinet for over years 30 and has been giving private lessons since
1997. Debbie teaches children and adults from beginner to intermediate levels. She especially enjoys teaching parents who want to learn just a few basic chords on guitar and ukulele to give them the ability to create a fun and engaging musical experience that they can share with their children. Getting started is really easy and lots of fun in the process!

Debbie enjoys a variety of musical genres including, but not limited to; classical, jazz, folk, rock, pop, and children's music.

So, if you are looking to change your life or the life of your child, give them the gift of music by scheduling a lesson with Debbie right now. If you do not see a time on her schedule that is convenient for you, please contact her and she will make every effort to work with you to get you scheduled for a time that works best for you.

Experience:

Debbie attended Suffolk College in Selden, New York, where she earned her degree in music performance as a clarinet and voice major. She continued her musical training in music performance at the prestigious Aaron Copeland School of Music at Queens College in Flushing, Queens, NY, where admittance is by audition only, also majoring in clarinet and voice. In addition to learning about musical performance, she also received vigorous training in music theory, sight reading, dictation, and ear training. All these skills are paramount to succeeding as an exceptional musician and musical instructor.

Although Debbie was trained as a classical clarinetist and vocalist, she was also a member of the guitar ensemble and played clarinet and alto sax in the jazz band, giving her experience in other genres of music as well beyond classical.

After graduating college, Debbie spent a few years playing her clarinet and alto sax in the orchestra for numerous musicals in theaters around the New York area. In addition, she also sang and played acoustic guitar during college with her band in local establishments around Long Island.

Most recently, before the birth of her children, Debbie was active in the musical program of her church in Cary, NC, where she sang in the choir, played clarinet in the chamber orchestra for special musical events, and played guitar and ukulele, and sang for the children's Sunday school. Activities she looks forward to returning to in the near future.

Currently, Debbie plays mostly for her own pleasure, and plays guitar and ukulele on a regular basis for her Wife and two young children, engaging them in fun singing and dancing musical time. "Music is a staple in our home and I hope to help you make it a staple in your home as well. Music truly brings people and families together!"

Beginning ukulele students will be taught the basics in a fun but productive way. I will teach a strong foundation so a student can move forward with confidence. Lessons would be individualized to focus on areas that need the most guidance.

You will learn the basics about rhythm, harmony, and melody and how they apply to ukulele. You will become fluent in the 12 basic keys to a degree where you can play simple songs in any of them.

About Melissa
I have been teaching since 2006 on a variety of topics. I graduated with an BA from the University of Wisconsin. My degree is in History with and emphasis on East Asian history.

I've taught all age groups from age 2 up to retirees. My teaching experience includes one-on-one and group classes in a variety of settings. I've taught corporate classes, private lessons, small groups, and traditional classroom lessons.

We have a student-centric philosophy of learning. Lessons are generally relaxed and designed to work towards accomplishing student determined goals. While all students will study similar fundamentals regarding technique, theory, and performance, every lesson is as different as every person. Special focus on topics like music theory, self-accompaniment, composition, song writing, and home recording are available as well.

What are your personal goals? We'll tell you what you need to do to get there, and help you take the steps to achieve your aspirations.

Lessons with small children are more focused on just having fun while developing a good musical foundation, but we prefer for them to have as much personal ownership of their lesson as possible.

I have experience teaching students from beginner to advanced ages 4+. This is a fun instrument especially for kids to start with as they progress through their musical journey.

About Salvador
I am a professional musician and educator. I have always enjoyed and been eager to share the musical knowledge that I learned from the very first music lesson I ever had; this feeling in me has never changed. I simply love to help people who want to learn new instruments.
I am patient and encouraging, helping you to always believe in yourself and I believe and have the educational means to help you do it. Whether it is piano, guitar or some other instrument you want to learn, I can help you.
I was became entirely dedicated to music when I was 14 years old. I learned Classical/Jazz/Pop Guitar, Piano and Flute/Recorder/Alto Sax. As soon as I started learning, I started teaching. In my church there were a lot of kids that didn't have the opportunity to learn music, so I volunteered and became their music teacher passing on to them whateve
r I learned myself.
As I grew older, I kept on studying and teaching music as a church volunteer and noticed that my own skills would dramatically improve just because I was devoted to my student's learning.
I pursued a degree in Music Education in New York City at the Aaron Copland School of Music. The education and experience I gained from college, drastically improved my teaching skills and I was able to work as a Music Teaching Assistant for a private school in NYC, a Senior Chess instructor for after school programs and a Private Music Studio teacher.
Nowadays I am an active music teacher and performer, looking for new students and opportunities to share the love of music. I always reach out to people who have musical interests and want to further develop or experiment with music.

I will be very happy to be your music teacher!

Mr. Salvador is a great instructor. He takes his time helping my daughter learn. He focuses on her foundation. The way she holds the guitar, position of feet and fingers. I appreciate how he is helping her become a well rounded musician. I’ve seen my daughter improve.

I have worked with Sal for the past year. He was the music teacher at the school I used to work at and he was wonderful with all the children of different age groups. I am also a nanny and he teaches piano to the child I take care of and he is very patient, loving, and nice. He is a good instructor.

Heyo! My name is Ben T. I have 11 years of formal guitar education. I have used this formal education to learn the ukulele and have become very proficient and comfortable with the instrument. I can play and teach the finger-style technique, as well as the strumming style playing. I look forward to teaching you to shred on the ukulele!

About Benjamin
Hello! My name is Ben T. I've had 11 years of formal guitar education, and I've used this formal education to teach myself the ukulele. I've become very proficient with this instrument and I feel comfortable teaching students finger-style techniques as well as strumming patterns.

Students can expect to improve week to week on their ukulele playing skills. These might include: recognizing and playing chords, reading tablature, playing using the finger-style technique, and strumming technique.

Music has had an awesome positive impact on my life, and I'd love to share that with others!
