I have been trained specifically in English language pedagogy. I received my M.A. Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) in 2016. I have taught learners at all levels from basic (Arabic and Chinese speakers who were still learning the roman alphabet) to advanced (graduate students who needed help following the conventions of academic English). Whatever your English language need is, I can help.
Courtney attended Truman State University where she graduated with a B.A. in English in 2011. After that, she moved across the country to Washington State University where she received her M.A. in English Literature and began teaching international students. After that, she moved back to the midwest where she worked on her M.A. TESOL at Central Michigan University while teaching English to speakers of other languages full-time. She completed her M.A. TESOL in 2016.

Hi there, I'd like you to know a little bit more about me. I was born upstate NY, my parents are both from Brazil and decided to move back when I was five years old. I lived in the city of Belo Horizonte until I graduate High School and decided to move back to the US to continue my studies. I then fell in love with Spanish and not only decided to study it but to make it my career. I got certified in Translation/Interpretation from Spanish to English and vice versa. I am now double-majoring on Spanish/ Latin American Studies at UNCC and hope one day working at the US State Department. I truly think that being a bilingual nowadays is not just a plus but a must. Therefore, I shall pass on my passion for languages and help others lean them with love and joy other than just a necessity.
I have 20 years of experience teaching ESL in many different settings: pre-school, elementary school, high school (international schools), after school tutoring and dyslexia support, adult classes at language institutes and Business English at multinational companies. I have taught in Italy, Mexico and China. I am also fluent in Spanish, Italian, Dutch and some German, so I can support my lessons in the native language of many ESL students when needed, although full-immersion (English only) is preferred .
