Few musicians or music students have identical goals, musical interests or physical size. So, It is NECESSARY to customize the course of study to meet student requirements. There are common issues for any serious pursuit of learning involving the guitar; right and left hand technique, fingerboard knowledge, chord knowledge, reading and interpretation.
However, to progress, it is also necessary for the student to practice daily.
I try to maintain a healthy balance between the focus on performance and technical issues.

I've been teaching and performing professionally for over 10 years. I have my BA in music and business. I have had some amazing experiences along the way. I've worked with world renowned vocal coaches, sang at Carnegie Hall, and played on various cds to raise money/awareness for charity projects. I'm grateful for all of this, but I love working with students on their music most of all. It delights me to see a student have an "aha" moment where they realize that they have what it takes to be great. I'd love to work with you, but if I don't I hope you reach your goals and have fun doing it ! ~ Carrie Jo ~

About Francisca M.
CloseThere is so much more to singing than just a great voice. The performance goes hand in hand and is something that myself as a performer, place a lot of emphasis on for those of you that are going out there and auditioning for musicals, plays, schools, bands etc.
You must always connect with the song and the story line. How do you relate?
These are all topics I go through with students that are looking for more of that edge in their overall singing experience.
We discuss character, character choices, emotion, presence, movement, microphone technique, stand out parts in the music and much more.
It is very important you can relate to the song in some way. It will not be the same as the person who wrote it, but you can still find something that will help you relate. You chose the song for a reason, even if it was for the melody, what is it about that melody you like? what is it about the guitar line, or piano line you like? etc. These and much more are topics I go through in ...
About Francisca
My teaching experience dates back to my University days. I was in my first year of my music degree when I applied for my first teaching position at a music school in Australia. I taught there throughout the Four years of my Bachelor's Degree and remained teaching
In 2012, I relocated to Miami and have been teaching from my private home studio while I continue working on my music career. As a musician and educator, I am very passionate about my teaching and like to bring the best out in my students. Every lesson is tailored specifically to your individual learning needs. I will teach you a vocal technique based on the Seth Riggs Teaching method with my own methods implemented, performance skills, repertoire selection, and audition preparation amongst other skills. It doesn't matter what your desired goal is, I can help you achieve it. The most important part of it all is that you have fun!!
And for piano I like to teach through a series of books depending on your learning levels. We can start at book one, with scales from the book A Dozen a Day, or we can take the the more traditional route of scales, or learn popular songs. This decision can be made by you and I when we meet at our first lesson and discuss what your goals are as a musician.
*** Lesson Details ***
Every lesson is tailored to your individual learning levels. I normally asses this in the first lesson. Lets start with the Singers.
Most singers are looking for help with contemporary popular music so using specific texts are void here. I will teach you a method of singing technique based on the Seth Riggs singing method, implemented with a technique called "Emotion Centered Singing" which will help you understand music beyond melody and composition but also through text and individual interpretation through story telling customed to your needs. I also teach Musical Theatre Singing, pop, rock, jazz, so if these are routes you would like to take, I can help you on your way there. I will help you choose repertoire for auditions, performances, we will work on performance and audition technique and many more fun things!!!
For the Pianists. This also depends on what you want to get out of your lessons. Do you want to learn pop songs? arrangements? Or do you want to learn classical pieces? I ask you all these questions and more at our first lesson to make sure you and I are both happy with the direction we will take. I use either Scale Books or The Dozen a Day Series or the ABRSM Piano series, Alfred's Adult Piano book and many more. Once again the important factor here is Fun based learning!
*** Studio Equipment ***
I provide a full size digital weighted piano for all Lessons, it has various different sounds and a great grand piano sound for piano students. Printer for any homework given, and stationery
*** Travel Equipment ***
I can provide some books for learning and make copies accordingly. The student should have a working piano/keyboard in the home. If i request they purchase a book for their learning development, they are required to purchase it.
*** Specialties ***
For Singing- I teach a method called Speech Level Singing. Similar to the Seth Riggs Speech level singing as well as a technique called Emotion centered singing which deals with connecting with the song and feeling the connection through the core. This is useful for performance and interpretation. I specialize in teaching, Pop, RnB, Musical Theatre, Rock and Folk
For Piano, I use a variety a books. I particularly like the Alfred's series as well as the Bastien Series. I also like to encourage other learning materials for holidays which is lots of fun!! This depends on the students learning level. I asses learning levels in the first lesson and plan lessons accordingly after that in order to have the student progress each week. I teach classical piano and contemporary, pop

I can teach all levels and many styles. I make it easy for you to learn at your own pace so you can achieve your goals and have fun playing music.
About Thomas
Tom began teaching in 1994 and still practices today instructing students of all ages on guitar and bass techniques, as well as music theory.
Tom is very laid back and embraces working at the pace that each of his students feels most comfortable. Lessons are about the student’s ambitions. If it is learning their favorite songs or a deep dive into music theory, jazz improvisation or songwriting it can be covered in strides that seem fit to the student. Books can be used for guidance and a custom lesson plan created that will fit specific criteria desired to be achieved by the student. Remember, practice makes perfect. The more you put in, the more you will get out of it!!

Micheal's business based environment in an open studio type classroom is a must. In Micheal's unique style of teaching you not only learn to play the guitar, but he also instructs you in song with a spirit of being well satisfied.
As shoppers pass through the store they enjoy the sounds of students playing their guitars following the guidance of Mr. Christian. This also gives his students a chance to perform in front of other people giving them a finer definitions for the art of music. If you are looking for a music instructor, one who focuses in on your difficult areas and searches for improvement to make you the best musician possible in all areas, or if you are just looking to learn and have lots of fun, then Mr. Christian is your contact. Please visit him at one of his jam sessions..

Since I knew nothing about guitars, I had no idea what type of guitar to purchase for Jennifer. Mr. Christian offered on his own time to go with us to help in the purchase of the guitar. He kept in mind what we could afford and the quality of the guitars, it was very reassuring to know that he was looking out for our welfare and to be able trust him.
I am very impressed with the progress Jennifer has made in playing the guitar. She looked forward to her lessons with Mike. She looked forward to her lessons with Mike. He made the lessons interesting and "fun". Mike not only taught her to play the guitar but also how to read music and understand it.
Mike is a very kind, moral, talented young man and I recommend him highly. We are sorry to see him leave, however, our loss is your gain.

Whether playing just for your own enjoyment or as part of a popular ensemble, the course in music performance will enhance your skills and confidence. You will learn how to selectively use recorded tracks from Audacity to act as sort of a "third-hand". Learn about pads and effects and when to properly use those. Discernment is key and you will learn which songs work for keyboards and which do not.

About Orla C.
CloseMy students have achieved admission into Berklee College of Music in Boston, lead roles in their school plays such as Peter Pan and Into the Woods, and new levels of confidence and vocal technique that have made them the stars of their local talent shows and concerts!
I am a vocal coach with over 10 years of experience singing on stage in bands, in professional musical theater, and in voice competitions. I've been trained in Jazz, Classical, Musical Theater (legit and contemporary styles), Rock, Pop, and Folk Music (Americana and Celtic).
I am absolutely sure that any singer of any age or ability can come to me with their audition, performance, and vocal technique goals, and together we will achieve those goals and more!
I love bringing the joy and beauty of singing to others and I can guarantee you'll leave our lessons with results beyond what you had thought possible.
About Orla
My name is Orla and I love singing and teaching others to sing! I began my vocal training at the age of 12 learning how to sing classical and musical theater music. I eventually went on to learn jazz and rock vocal techniques before going to Berklee College of Music in Boston where I learned how to sing celtic music and alternative contemporary styles.
The most important thing to me when working with singers of any age or ability is helping them learn the correct techniques to keep their voices safe and healthy while singing. With this strong foundation, my students will be able to achieve almost any style or level of singing they desire. It is totally possible to stretch your vocal range, learn a new style, or incorporate movement into your songs if you simply use the correct and healthy vocal techniques!

Performing onstage is something that is imperative to becoming a musician who stands out and people want to watch perform. From clothing choices, to stage moves, to hair styles, to different types of equipment and their pros/cons, to lighting, to the progression and order of the songs in your set..... ALL of these aspects are key when keeping your audience engaged. Let me teach them to you.
About Barney
Growing up in Austin, I picked up the guitar at church at 9 years old. I began giving lessons through my church until I graduated high school and left for Texas State University, where I continued to give lessons at the University. I also played in 4 bands in my 5 years at Texas State University, and have played in 3 more since graduating. I now live in New Braunfels, Texas with my wife and two dogs- a town lush with professional musicians, and work as a hired gun performing with many bands around the Texas Hill Country.

Identifying your influences (and their influences) and pinpointing exactly what techniques, sounds, theory and styles they use is very focal to my approach. Inside the focal point of identifying your influences, their influences, and learning the riffs, solos and licks that personify their playing and style, we will be studying their tone, vibrato, phrasing, chord progression, techniques and other aspects of their playing to identify what exactly about their playing is what drives you and makes you want to be a better guitar player. It will also help you to learn the instrument in general.
Early in your playing, we will keep it simple. We will hover around the basics in your influences, and through learning some of their more iconic riffs, we'll learn your basic chords and scales. But as you progress, we will then develop these aspects that you enjoy in others, and begin to apply them to your playing to develop your own style. We will get more into technical aspects of the guitar and deeper into music theory.
This all, of course, will be catered exactly to who you are, what you want, (your goals as a player) your improvement and how your style is developing. Come with me on this musical journey of developing your guitar playing, and you will not be disappointed! Thanks!
