Basic - intermediate piano of all ages. Method books that I have used with many successful students will be the core of the lessons and student's weekly practice. In addition to piano techniques, a clear philosophy of effective practicing will be taught.

About Jonathan
About

I am a Florida native, active doctoral student, teacher and practitioner. My career includes performing and recording as a guitarist and teaching subjects such as music or math. Grade-school academic strengths in mathematics represent my enthusiasm for the subject. The math equivalent in music can be considered music theory, which is another passion of mine. I hope to take these well-rounded characteristics to teach and influence others with what I have learned in my education and career thus far.

Education & Teaching Experience:

I am currently pursuing my Doctorate of Musical Arts from Shenandoah University and hold a Masters of Music from the University of Akron and a Bachelor of Music from Stetson University (all degrees with a guitar performance emphasis). I also have a temporary teaching certificate for Music K-12 fro
m the Florida Department of Education. I have taught in Florida as a preferred substitute for general music classes, K-12. In college, I have given study sessions for music theory levels ranging from 4-part writing to post-serialism.

Degrees:
Doctorate of Musical Arts: Guitar Performance; Shenandoah University, expected May 2017/2018
Master of Music: Guitar Performance; University of Akron, May 2014
Bachelor of Music: Guitar Performance; Stetson University, 2011

While giving lessons:
I ensure that every student receives fundamental foundation pertaining to the subject. While learning the basics, I advise that the student organizes their lessons and materials in a way that displays progress over time. With the proper knowledge, we can treat the heart of a subject with refinement in order to grasp it's purpose and reason---whether its music or math.

Why?
My students have grown with confidence through a sense of accomplishment. Success does not only affect a person's well-being but can also impact other dimensions of their lives.

About Kareem
A native of the Pacific Northwest, saxophonist Kareem K is a performer, composer, and educator, who is in high demand for his talents both on and off the stage.

Growing up in the northwest with its vibrant music scene allowed Kareem the opportunity to study with, listen to and perform with world class jazz artists residing in the area. Artists such as Tracy Knoop, Jay Thomas, Don Lanphere, Bill Ramsay, Hadley Caliman, Julian Priester and many others had a large impact on Kareem early in his musical education. This direction and guidance continues to inspire and lead Kareem as he continues his lifelong passion undertaking a career as a professional musician.

Today, as a performing artist he spends most of his time leading his group for which he composes and arranges most of the music. The band is constantly on the move as a sought af
ter performing group and spends most of its time performing in and around the Pacific Northwest. When not leading his own group Kareem can be seen and heard performing as a sideman with many other top notch musical acts and projects, most notably The Paperboys from Vancouver BC.

As an educator Kareem divides his time teaching jazz improvisation as an artist in residence at The Tacoma School of the Arts, directing the award winning student jazz ensemble at Pierce College, conducting masterclasses and workshops at schools around the Puget Sound area, and maintaining a full load of private students. Along with his teaching duties Kareem is the director or The Tacoma Jazz Association, serves on the Tacoma Arts Commission, and is a D'Addario Woodwinds performing artist.

Kareem holds a Bachelors Degree of Music from Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle Washington which he attended after receiving a full scholarship.

Throughout his years of teaching Kareem has worked with students of all ages and abilities, from beginners just getting started, to advanced players who simply want new ideas and direction.

*** Lesson Details ***
Lessons are relaxed and are focused on what you would like to learn.

I usually begin with assessing where students are in their abilities and then come up with a lesson plan based on what they already know and what they would like to accomplish.
They can be geared towards a 5 year old with no musical training whatsoever, or to an advanced musician who wants to further develop their skills.

Topics that I cover in lessons throughout a typical day of teaching include: Instrument technique, sight reading skills ( note and rhythm recognition ), memorization skills, music theory, ear training, improvising, and composing.

After 3 to 6 months of lessons and regular practice a beginning student should have a good command of their instrument and a strong foundation of sight reading. At this point we normally will also have started some music theory as well. For students wanting to focus on jazz we will have already begun improvising as well.

*** Studio Equipment ***
5x10 room w/ piano and seating for parents

*** Specialties ***
I focus on the basics of learning to read music and basic technique on the instruments that I teach. From there I proceed with theory, ear training, improvising, composition etc. It all depends on what the students want to learn. I am comfortable teaching classical music as well as jazz, rock, composition, and improvisation.

Kareem has been teaching me since I was in the fourth grade. I am currently in 8th grade, and man what can I say, he's as good as it gets! After two years I was in my middle school jazz band, which is not easy for a person who has only been playing for two years. You, yourself will be able to see extreme progress within just a few lessons! You must know Kareem teaches at Pierce College, a class at the Tacoma School of the Arts (which I hopefully will be attending and taking his class), teaches numerous private students every week, and lastly he performs with a stellar jazz band of his own! He is extremely dedicated to the musical field. If I were anybody reading this review and wanted to start playing any of the variety of instruments he plays, I would call Kareem K.!

Michelle does a great job with my 6 year old son. He has been getting weekly lessons for over a year now, and is making a lot of progress. He also enjoys the lessons enough to look forward to them. I was worried he would lose interest, but so far that is not the case. Michelle makes it fun and provides small rewards and lots of encouragement. I wanted to expose my son to the experience and enjoyment that comes with learning to play music, and Michelle has made that possible.

Over 30 years experience, love helping others learn the language of music!

About Stephanie
I am a career musician, and conservatory trained violin, piano and vocal instructor with over 25 years teaching experience, and a resume spanning many pages. I also am a well endorsed composer. Furthermore, I LOVE teaching! I am a competition judge, member of National Music Teachers Association, and Suzuki Association of the Americas. I have proven results, as documented on my students YouTube channel. With my instruction, you will learn quickly and most importantly, correctly, saving you time and resources as you reach your musical goals. Fact: One of the only activities that activates, stimulates, and uses the entire brain is music, so let's get started!

Some people have difficulty reaching a teachers' studio. For this reason, I have perfected my ability to teach via Skype or FaceTime. It is an advantage for my students to b
e instructed by a quality teacher. It's worth a try, isn't it?

Please note: I only accept weekly lesson students. Also, due to my performances, I'm not always able to this calendar up to date....so when you request a lesson time, allow me to communicate with you, if we need to adjust it a bit. It almost always works out if you don't mind doing that.

*** Lesson Details ***
All the students on my Student YouTube channel who have studied under three years, are practicing 2 hours a week, and you will have a similar result. That's 20 minutes a day, 6 days a week. Students under 5 practice about 10-15 minutes a day.

Please have an assignment book that lies flat, and keep it next to your music books as you practice between lessons. My instructions are very detailed to insure your best progress.

*** Studio Equipment ***
For on-line lessons, you will need a quiet place, and please test your sound and video prior to beginning of lesson. For students under 13 or so, do have a parent or caregiver taking notes while we work together.

*** Specialties ***
I have much experience with various learning styles, and in fact, am featured in a documentary made of one of my autistic students.

She asks that you practice 20 minutes a day. Since she inspires you to improve and do your best, it is easy to practice longer than requested. She has brought joy back into my life through music. I am accepting new private students for piano lessons. I have extensive experience teaching children and adults of all levels for 29 years. I also conducted many large projects like musicals with children and they enjoy working with me very much. I have a PhD in Music and I'm a professor at Tennessee State University.

I'm very good with little ones. They think we play on the piano while I'm doing my job. My first aim is to welcome them to world of music and share my love of music. This is very important for me as once they feel and understand music, it will have an important place in their lives.

My sessions for ages between 4-6 will be 30 minutes most but I highly advice 1 hour of lessons for older students, teenagers and adults.

About Dr. Tem
“As an artist/educator who has a childlike soul, I both feel and sense life, and reflect this through my art; teaching is the best way to share and convey this understanding to younger generations. “Revealing students’ spirits with the love of music and helping them to use it with passion while making music” is my main philosophy in teaching.”

Dr. Tem

A composer and music technologist. Composing experience is diverse and includes composing for orchestras, and composing with computers for multimedia, computer games and film. Academic, research and work experience in Music Composition, Film Scoring, Music Theory and Ear Training, Piano, E-Learning, Music Technology, Computer Music, Sound Design, Game Audio and Game Technologies among favorite areas. Teaching in institutes offering such curriculum.

Has been the Director of Music &
Sound Production Department at SEBIT LLC., Between 1996-2015. SEBIT's primary areas of focus are E-Learning, Multimedia and Game Development, as well as research in these areas. It is located at Skysong, Arizona State University, Scottsdale AZ, USA.

I've been teaching Piano for 9 almost 10 years and my students have gone on to develop a deep love for music! Within the first few lessons, you'll start playing simple scales and as time goes on, you'll be able to sight read like a pro. I also specialize in music ear training and vocal harmony. I love working with students of all experience levels and look forward to working with you and your child.

About Kenneth
Hi, there! My name is Kenneth and I can't wait to meet you! I've been teaching private lessons since 2009 and have loved helping my students sight read, play by ear, and further their music knowledge in theory. I went to Norfolk State University and majored in Music Education. I'm a knowledgeable, caring, and disciplined musician who will have high expectations of the students I teach. With me being your child's teacher you can also look forward to me being an awesome role model for your child. I am one of the youth leaders at my church and have a few youth musicians under my tutelage there as well. I am fully aware that not every person learns the exact same way, with that being said you can rest assured that I will cater to you and your child's learning needs. I look forward to helping you and/or your child reach your goals!

Chordal Ear Training changes everything!

Although classically trained, I have developed a Chordal Ear Training approach that utilizes the full spectrum of both sight-reading and playing 'by ear.'

This gives the student the maximum advantage when learning piano or advanced performance skills. My students learn not only 'piano' but the joy of Music itself.

As a teacher AND performer for many years, I've noticed that 'joy in learning AND playing' is the most important factor in inspiring a student/performer to be diligent and even passionate about their practice. Thus, they become highly motivated, get noticeably better, improve remarkably and quickly, and gain confidence in their ability and talent.

About Todd
What do Star Wars, Billy Joel and Dallas Holm all have in common?

All three inspired me to attempt to play music.

Music has played a very significant role in my life since high school, where 'study hall' was my chance to first play by ear on a grand piano. I LOVED playing music and singing!

Evidently it 'took.' I sooned gained admission through audition to the University of Tennessee where I studied classical, jazz and vocal music with Dr. Bill Dorn, Dean of Piano, and acclaimed jazz master and author Dr. Jerry Coker.

From the World's Fair to the Biltmore House, I have enjoyed performing at these and many other venues. Yet, teaching is my first love musically.

Over the years I have found teaching not only sight-reading based methods but chordal and ear training to be essential elements of enhancing my students and student
performers.

You see, reading sheet music is only a piece of the pie. When you add ear-training, active listening, performance training, multi-genre analysis, accompaniment and collaboration to the educational mix, students begin to understand and LOVE music.

Once students love music, there is no stopping them! Students practice and PLAY more, and they get better because of their enhanced practicing. It becomes less work and more PLAY!

And passionate students become PERFORMERS! Whether for audiences of one or hundreds, the satisfaction and sense of fulfillment is amazing, and THAT is why I teach. The rewards and excitement are mutual, for the student, for me and their audiences.

I have been performing and teaching for over 35 years and love to share my amazing musical experiences (and experience). It could change your approach to music, enhance your appreciation and understanding of music, and quite possibly change your musical life.

As a teacher he took me beyond the fundamentals into theory, key changes, cordal ear training, musical stylizing and so much more. Todd is very patient and knowledgeable; a wonderful communicator, entertainer, and teacher. I highly recommend him!
