Even though my background is in Musical Theatre and Opera, I specialize in integrating the classical technique into other styles of music, such as rock or country, to help the singer have a more rich and healthy voice.

About john
Johnny was born and raised in Florence, South Carolina where at the young age of 16 made the most important decision of his life. He walked off of the baseball field and joined show choir. Since that day music has become a driving force in his life. He received his bachelors of music in classical voice performance from Belmont University in Nashville TN, and will be receiving his Masters of Fine Arts in Vocal Pedagogy and Classical Voice Performance from the prestigious Westminster choir college in Princeton NJ.

Johnny teaches singers from ages 10 to 94 whose aspirations range from perform
ing on Broadway, or just simply to sing better in the shower. Johnny believes that performing music should always be fun, because without fun music is just organized sound, not the language of the soul.

Informal, Relaxed and you get results

John is a very gifted teacher. He quickly hones in on what you need to do to make your voice become what it needs to be and treats you more like a buddy than a subordinate.Within the first 3 lessons I was sounding much better and more at ease with singing. You want to learn to sing? He'll teach you.

Many of his students have become professional musicians across many genres, educators themselves, or satisfied amateur hobbyists.

*** Lesson Details ***
As a teacher many have described my style as nurturing-but-firm. When I see a student's potential, I make sure that student can attain it. I expect a willingness to learn, a desire to succeed, and a want for excellence. In return, I offer the tools to get the student there!

I know that not every student benefits best from only one method. As such, I employ a variety of teaching tools and methods to best suit each student. Strings students can expect to see a little bit of traditional training, a little bit of Suzuki and little bit of contemporary training. Voice students can see some Sieber vocalizes, some Vaccai, classical, jazz, and musical theater training built on an old-world teaching technique. It's all about giving the student the tools to do whatever he/she wants with his/her music of choice!

On your first lesson, I'll go over the materials needed, what you need to work on, and the very basics so you can immediately get to enjoying your new craft. In a few months, you'll be confident making new music or making better music. Within a year, you should be well prepared for one of my studio recitals!

*** Studio Equipment ***
I have a commercial music teaching studio used solely for the purposes of teaching. In the studio there is a piano, my music library, photo copier, computer, audio equipment, stereo, music stands, standing mirror, and various teaching tools. There is a waiting area for parents, siblings and other visitors.

*** Specialties ***
Voice: All Genres -- child-adult, all levels (beginning through advanced).
Violin: All Styles -- all levels (beginning through advanced).
Viola: All Styles -- all levels (beginning through advanced).

How often have you heard a music director say you need to "PROJECT?!" Well, I'll teach you how to do it WITHOUT belting or hurting your vocal cords.

About Tyler
I have been singing for 16 years. I've performed for thousands of people, and been all over the country doing what I love - making music. I am lucky enough to have been on stage with members of *NSYNC and Fleetwood Mac, and I can't wait to see what else the future has in store! I am passionate about sharing what I've learned over the years with anyone who loves to sing, whether you're new to music and are starting from scratch, or you're a seasoned performer who is ready to take your craft to the next level. After earning a Bachelor's degree in Vocal Performance, as well as a Master's in Comme
rcial Vocal Performance, I have the skills and knowledge necessary to help each student.

VOICE LESSONS: Students can sing whatever kind of music they want! With a focus on the student's overall vocal health first and foremost, I tailor each lesson to suit what that student needs to improve their singing. The main goal for ALL students is to get rid of any muscular tension that may be hindering their performances. Singing is meant to be easy and fun, NOT tense, tight, and rigid. I help students physically and mentally get into the right place to sing efficiently and gracefully, so they can focus on truly performing the songs for their audiences.

After spending years watching Tyler perform and grow as a musician and songwriter, I was quite ecstatic when I got the chance to work with him. His genuine personality and overt passion for music are a powerful attributes that aid in his already easy-going teaching style. Though he was professionally schooled, he doesn't ever belabor the formalities or "rules" of music, but rather adheres to them seamlessly while also making crafty suggestions along the way.
He is always kind and always interested in making the music, or musicians he is surrounded by, better.
I still cherish the lessons he gave me and the career he helped me shape. Anyone taking notes from him will greatly benefit from this fine young gentleman and skilled musician.

Tyler fuses passion with technique to help his students achieve the freedom as a performer to fully express themselves musically. He is well-studied academically, as well as a road-tested talent. This unique perspective is a real asset to his students!

Using my expertise as a performer and writer of musical theater, you will start with an excellent foundation for technique that will make Broadway-style singing effortless and fun. You will also learn to act a song in both interpreting the lyrics and moving your body. Finally, we will build your "rep" book with songs that fit your voice and cast-type so that you can feel confident auditioning for and performing in musicals.

I have a Bachelor of Music in musical theater performance from Catholic University and have experience performing regionally as well as coaching in New York. As a musical theater writer, I regularly work with both aspiring and current Broadway performers.

About Natalie
Hi, everyone!

I'm so excited to be in Music City! I just moved to Nashville from New York City where I worked with Broadway performers and kids auditioning for some of the most competitive performance schools in the country. I'm confident I can help you achieve your music goals, whether they be learning to produce a powerful, resonate, healthy sound with your voice, becoming proficient in piano from everything from Bach to Billy Joel, or writing clear, catchy songs that will have a big impact on an audience.
